Tri-level house with large windows throughout making the living space bright and sunny. Kitchen fully stocked. Double bed was very comfortable. Private parking on small side driveway. Two full bathrooms on upper and lower levels, none on first floor living area, good to know for those with issues negotiating stairs. The neighborhood is very quiet and scenic, just a few miles away from Halibut State Park. The host was in contact to see if I had questions and was settling in. Good and timely communication throughout.Nice place for a weekend getaway or family vacation.
We loved our stay in Gloucester. The place had everything we need and Rachel was very informative. Gloucester is a cute little town close to Eatsern Head light house. Plum cove beach is right around and we loved it
What a wonderful house and what a wonderful time we had there. The main floor has an excellent, fully stocked kitchen and comfy living room. Downstairs is the main bedroom and bathroom with an extra large tub. A real bonus is that it's nice and cool down there (there's also a floor fan if needed). Upstairs from the main floor is a very large bedroom with 3 single beds and a second bathroom with shower. One evening we walked down to the dock area (about a quarter mile away) to watch the sunset. It's only about 3 miles to the great Rockport shops, and a couple of additional miles to downtown Gloucester. And there's a nice place (the Lobster Pool) for lobster rolls and excellent fish & chips just a mile to the east. We took a short drive to Wingaersheek Beach, which is an incredible place with large rock formations that are islands at high tide but can be walked out to at low (so go as the tide is going out to low tide). I didn't photograph the rental but have included a photo of Wingaersheek Beach. This was a wonderful rental experience, which we definitely will repeat. A big thank you to Rachel, who was a great hostess.
Convenient homebase to explore Cape Ann. The house is very clean, has good looking decor, sheets and towels were clean and comfortable and A/C works well. The stairs are steep and narrow, but thatâs to be expected in older houses. We enjoyed our stay very much!
I would have liked exra
blankets, but otherwise everthing was good! The kids loved staying in the attic room! We had plenty of space! Beautiful town as well!
The kitchen: There were no sponges and no dish towels, which made it somewhat difficult to clean our own dishes or bigger pots and pans. There was also only one roll of paper towels provided for our 3 day stay, which wasnât enough as there were no kitchen towels. There was no broom or vacuum to clean up either. There was a major lack of kitchen utensils.
Living Room: The TV was hard to use and there was no manual or explanation on how to use it. The back door dead bolt would not lock.
Upstairs/bedrooms: There were only 5 towels provided even though there were 7 guests. One of the upstairs windows (sky light) is broken and would not open. The beds upstairs have wheels and are on wooden floors, which allowed them to roll around. One of the beds had a metal piece jutting out, and one of our family members badly cut their leg and bruised themselves on it. Itâs very unsafe, especially if there are children running around.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. The property and neighborhood are beautiful and quiet. There were just some inconveniences that could definitely be improved upon.
Very nice, quiet area, with a few local restaurants and shops near by. Train station was about 5 miles away, easy straight shot drive from house, to take train into Boston. Beach area is close by. Good communication from host. House was clean and comfortable for our stay with 4 teenagers and 2 adults.
My family and I have been on the North Shore for the last 10 years and love exploring all that this area has to offer! We love to enjoy Gloucester beaches, or adventure to local coffeeshops and breweries. I'm looking forward to hosting you here in our neck of the woods. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Lanesville is a small seaside village in Gloucester, tucked away from downtown on the very top of Cape Ann, close to the border of Rockport. There are a few hundred year-round residents in downtown Lanesville but it becomes quite a popular place to rent in the summer! There is a small strip of downtown businesses along Washington Street, including a post office, liquor store, and Cove cafe.
