I was a bit worried as I drove up to the motel. It's not on the most beautiful stretch of Broadway, especially at night. But the check in process was efficient (although the security window made it hard for me to hear the desk clerk). The room was much, much nicer than I expected...Much better appointed. The room was very clean. Parking was offered and was secure. It was perfect for what I wanted - a room to crash in after seeing a jazz show in Oakland.

I suggest slippers. I wouldnt walk bare footed. The bathroom floor was atrocious. It needed gel bleach and a big scrub brush. They said no vaping, but vaping would help with the smell. I brought a diffuser. However it was a perfect over night stay.

Simple but clean and updated. Comfortable bed. Felt very secure in gated space. Close to lots of restaurants, public transit.

Some apprehension but unwarranted

When I first saw the place I was a little concerned. It’s a classic motel. With lots of security. But everything worked out well. It’s just a few blocks from great restaurants. The rooms are recently renovated and everything was clean. I can’t think of anything that was wrong Would stay again

Good price, but the photos were not realistic

I rented this spot for a stay during a work event and was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the space. The photos looked very clean and modern, like one of those condos ppl rent out on VRBO. When I arrived I realized it's a motel, which is fine, but the room had a dirty floor, the bed frame was stained fabric, and it smelled heavily of cleaner as if it were supposed to cover something up.

Bare bones accommodation

It lacked comfort. there were no chairs to sit on, no place to hang up your clothes. The walls were so thin that we could hear the couple next door as clearly as if they were in the same room as us. The bed was uncomfortable. The shower curtain was too short and water leaked out onto the floor.

It’s a motel, not a typical vacation rental by OWNER

Was surprised to find a typical motel with graffiti on the outside. But behind the locked gates was plenty of parking and an extremely helpful and accommodating man at the front desk. Rooms were cute and newly refurbished. But not as clean as I’d hoped. The TV frequently stopped working, but I have streaming on my phone so it’s okay. Would have been more annoyed if I was trying to watch with someone else.

You can have clean or cheap, but you can't have both

I booked two nights and only stayed one. This room hasnt seen a vacuum or a mop in months. The shower is black, the walls, light switches, artwork, literally everything in this room has black filthy fingerprints on every inch of it. I think the best we got was clean towels and sheets. We made due for one night, I used a wash rag to wipe the floor to clear up some of the tumbleweeds of pubes, hair, and dirt all over.Thankfully I bring my own pillowcases and pillow protectors, and I borrowed a blanket from the family member I was visiting. The neighboring room was partying and playing loud music all night. I had zero confidence that any other room would be cleaner and I was exhausted so I just got some sleep and booked another hotel elsewhere.The host will not refund me for the second night because I didn't waste my first night moving to another, almost certainly, filthy room.I took several photos if needed.

It's not in what anyone would call an upscale neighborhood, but lots of great coffee and food options within walking distance and a clear, reasonably quiet space. I had breakfast at Mama's Royal Cafe twice and both were solid. I had coffee and hot chocolate several times at Mother Tongue (excellent, though expensive pour over coffee), and a good lunch at Brenda's, all less than a five minute walk. I didn't get the connection in the listing to the aquarium, but I also didn't have time to explore it. If you are fine with a motel as opposed to a hotel, you should come away happey.
