A wonderful family vacation with all we were hoping for - good fishing, a nice swimming area, wonderful sunsets in a very peaceful setting. The chalet and bunkhouse worked out perfectly for our family. Susan was very accommodating and communicated well.We hope to return.
Our family had an exceptional time staying at this alpine chalet. The host and the caretaker were very attentive to our needs. The property has everything you need to have for vacationing. It is exceptionally clean. The beach is sandy and private. The sunsets were beautiful. Thank for sharing this gem of a spot!
If you are looking for a getaway this is THE place. Chalet on a pond that was so peaceful and quiet. Canoeing kayaking fishing swimming and local hiking. 10 out of 10.
We just spent a week at the Alpine Chalet and had a wonderful time. It's so peaceful paddling on the pond, watching the local birds and beautiful sunsets. It's centrally located to larger lakes small town, streams and mountains. It has something for everyone, or you can just relax at the pond in a little slice of heaven. I would highly recommend this cottage.
We absolutely loved our weeklong stay at the Chalet. The house was very clean and had everything one would need.
We spent lots of time down by the water. It was the perfect beach for our kids to play in the sand and swim. We enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and sâmores by the fire. We also spent a day at Santaâs village, drove the auto road to the summit of Mount Washington, and enjoyed shopping on the quaint Main Streets of Norway and Bridgton.
Also, Sue was a great communicator and made everything so easy! Definitely recommend!
We had the most amazing week at the chalet! The house was clean and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the washer and dryer were very nice to have. The bedrooms werenât ideal for traveling with young kids (ours are 2 and 4), but we made it work. There is a downstairs bedroom with two twins, and two upstairs loft rooms where you have to walk through one to get to the other and both lofts open to the rest of the house with a short railing. The 4th bedroom is across the driveway in the âbunkhouseâ which is an adorable space with twin bunks, full size bed, and a couch and fridge. The bedroom set up wasnât completely clear to me from the listing, but it ended up working pretty well for us. There is also an awesome patio, grill, and deck at the house.
The best part of the property by far though is the beach area! Big, sandy, private beach with three boats, shed for storing beach gear, and plenty of chairs, floats, life jackets, and sand toys. The water was warm and clear and there are only a handful of houses on the pond so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We spent all day, every day in the water. It was perfect for little kids and adults. We were all sad to leave and canât wait to return!
What a wonderful week we spent at Sueâs chalet on Proctor Pond. Our 5 grandkids 13-9yrs fished, swam enjoyed s'mores in the evening on beach and hot chocolate mornings on the patio over looking pond. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out in the chalet and the cute bunk house which 2 of the kids chose to stay in. We would not hesitate to stay in this summer rental again. Susan answered every and all questions we had.
We had an amazing time at Sue's chalet. Being on such a beautiful pond made a huge, positive impact on our trip. She has everything you need for a great time - life jackets, floaties, canoe, kayak, lots of paddles, fire pit supplies... the list goes on. Our kids and adults loved the easy water access! It was also terrific to eat meals outside and enjoy coffee overlooking the view. Our in-laws are getting older, and were a little concerned about the steps down to the water, but they managed ok. Our kids LOVED having their own space in the bunk house (didn't mind not having a bathroom there). A heads up that the queen and double rooms upstairs are part of the loft and don't have walls/doors, so best if you're with people you're comfortable with! We found we had everything we needed for a perfect week. Great hikes and fun things to do close by and within 30-45 minute drive and so nice to be in the quiet beauty. THANK YOU!
We had a great time at Proctor Pond. I went with my 3 children and a friend and their children. We had a great time swimming and canoeing in the pond as well as making sâmores on the beach at night. We took a day trip to Conway Railway and rode the train and browsed the shops. All in all it was a positive experience.
We stayed here for a week in early August with my husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and two grandkids (5&6). We had a blast swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and enjoying the fire pit by the lake. NH attractions like Mt. Washington and Santaâs Village are within reasonable driving distance. The house offered everything we needed. Communication with Susan prior to the trip was timely and friendly. Definitely recommend this property!!!
We had two families stay here both with children under three. One family stayed in the bunk house the other in the cabin. The cabin is very nice and itâs lofted so the bedrooms look out over the first floor living space.
Super quiet area this week we were the only people to swim on the pond or even canoe on it.
Nice gentle mountain views over the pond on the patio is perfect for morning coffee!!
What a great spot to get away from all the noise. House was well stocked with all those little things you might forget. The pond was clean. We fished and swam all day every day - even in the rain!! Saw eagles each day. We would definitely recommend the chalet to our friends!!
We had a great week here! The house was clean, and had an open layout which worked well for our family of 4. The beach was sandy and had many chairs and toys for the kids. There was great communication from the host and we were impressed at the level of detail to make us comfortable- there was bug spray and citronella candles to help with mosquitos. We had to provide our own linens and towels which made it a bit tricky, but otherwise we had a fantastic week!
We enjoyed our stay on Proctor Pond. Even though you could hear cars on the highway during the day, it really didn't affect the fun we had. The water was fresh. We swam off our little beach, kayaked, canoed, and saw deer, loons, ducks and turtles. We ventured into the town of Norway and enjoyed art galleries and restaurants. We climbed nearby Tire 'Em Out Mountain. Great view at the top. The chalet itself was a very cool lodge. The bunk house did not have a restroom. Something to consider.
We had such a fun week at the chalet. It was exactly what we had been looking forward to months before when we booked. The house is clean, cozy, and stocked with all the amenities one could imagine. Sue was a fantastic host and provided great communication before and during our stay. The home is very private and most days we felt like we were the only ones around for miles.
The beach was a huge plus. It provided us with hours of swimming, fishing, relaxing, and good old fashion fun! As the listing says there are many stairs to walk down to get to the beach. A railing would be a huge bonus, but we were fine making the trek up and down the stairs when needed. Also, the stairs in the home leading up to the second floor may be difficult for very young or old. Fortunately, the bedroom on the first floor is where my 70-something parents stayed when they visited for a few nights. All the beds were comfy!
Our kids (5 and 8) shared the bed at the top of the stairs on the second floor and enjoyed it. We stayed during a very warm and humid week but Sue provides many fans in the home to cool off with and every morning we all woke up feeling cool and searching for an extra blanket (which there are many). Adding a screen door at the front entrance may circulate more air?
During our week we made a trips to Santa's Village, North Conway/Mount Cranmore, Bethel, (great hiking trails), Bridgton/Harrison, South Paris to visit family and also made stops at the local general stores (AJ's Everything and Melby's). The closest large grocery store is about 20 minutes away.
We ate dinner outside a few nights (thank you for the citronella candles â although bugs werenât too bad) and had a campfire on a couple of nights. There was even plenty of provided firewood - a huge plus!!
The bald eagle we spotted on the first morning was special and got us completely in Maine vacation mode! The canoe, kayaks and other inflatables and beach toys were awesome to have!
We would definitely rent this chalet again. Thanks so much for a wonderful week. We were truly sad to leave.
If you want a quiet, peaceful setting, this is the place for you! We spent 95% of our time on the private beach swimming, kayaking, building sandcastles, canoeing and fishing. We caught sunfish, bass, crappies, pickerel and more RIGHT off the beach. It was awesome. There were also so many turtles that my kids loved to see.
Sue was fantastic and so organized. Any question we may have had was answered on a piece of paper left out in the camp.
Would definitely return again.
