We had such a fun week at the chalet. It was exactly what we had been looking forward to months before when we booked. The house is clean, cozy, and stocked with all the amenities one could imagine. Sue was a fantastic host and provided great communication before and during our stay. The home is very private and most days we felt like we were the only ones around for miles.
The beach was a huge plus. It provided us with hours of swimming, fishing, relaxing, and good old fashion fun! As the listing says there are many stairs to walk down to get to the beach. A railing would be a huge bonus, but we were fine making the trek up and down the stairs when needed. Also, the stairs in the home leading up to the second floor may be difficult for very young or old. Fortunately, the bedroom on the first floor is where my 70-something parents stayed when they visited for a few nights. All the beds were comfy!
Our kids (5 and 8) shared the bed at the top of the stairs on the second floor and enjoyed it. We stayed during a very warm and humid week but Sue provides many fans in the home to cool off with and every morning we all woke up feeling cool and searching for an extra blanket (which there are many). Adding a screen door at the front entrance may circulate more air?
During our week we made a trips to Santa's Village, North Conway/Mount Cranmore, Bethel, (great hiking trails), Bridgton/Harrison, South Paris to visit family and also made stops at the local general stores (AJ's Everything and Melby's). The closest large grocery store is about 20 minutes away.
We ate dinner outside a few nights (thank you for the citronella candles â although bugs werenât too bad) and had a campfire on a couple of nights. There was even plenty of provided firewood - a huge plus!!
The bald eagle we spotted on the first morning was special and got us completely in Maine vacation mode! The canoe, kayaks and other inflatables and beach toys were awesome to have!
We would definitely rent this chalet again. Thanks so much for a wonderful week. We were truly sad to leave.
