Mele Nani in Volcano, Hawaii is our sweet two bedroom, one full bathroom vacation home. Our favorite spot is the hanging lounger on the covered, front lanai. Gently rock to the bird song all around while sipping your morning coffee. We offer a small wood burning fireplace for chilly evenings. The living room has a comfy sofa, chair, flat screen TV for streaming your favorite channels and free WiFi. Our custom kitchen is full of appliances, cookware and dishes for cooking local produce til your heart's content. The full bathroom has a bathtub and shower combo that we stock with a starter supply of soaps, detergents, and paper products for our guests.

Please note: Some mapping software shows the correct location but indicates that the address is in Kailua-Kona. IT IS NOT. The house is in Volcano near the National Park entrance.

Located in the Ohia Estates neighborhood, Mele Nani, is less than a 10 minute drive to the famed Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and about a 40 minute drive into Hilo. We provide local recommendations (Things To Do and Restaurants!) in a binder located in the home. Volcano Village has a few wonderful restaurants and fantastic galleries. Within an hour's drive you can experience dashing waterfalls, craggy hikes around dormant volcanoes, daring ocean cliff outlooks, vibrant cultural shops and restaurants, and most of the world's varied climate zones. We recommend staying at least a week and packing light layers and sturdy shoes to get the full 'Big Island' adventure. E komo mai (welcome)!

What to Bring: Volcano can be chilly at night and when it rains so pack a few long layers and sturdy hiking shoes to maximize your enjoyment of our location! We stock fire wood and a starter supply of essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent and soaps. While we do not stock shampoo, sunscreen, or bug repellant there may be some left by previous guests that you're welcome to use.

The best of the best!

We had an amazing stay with this property! The location is perfect—just a short drive to Volcano National Park, making it super convenient for exploring. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, allowing us to fully relax after a day of adventure. The home itself is clean, modern, and well-maintained, with all the amenities we needed. One of our favorite features was the old wood fireplace, which added so much charm and kept us warm during the cool evenings at this elevation. The outside full-size hanging swing bed is the most comfortable place to relax. If you’re looking for a cozy, comfortable, and well-located stay near the park, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommend!

Great location!

This was a great property between Hilo, Kilauea, and Punalu'u Beach. The property had everything we needed to make meals and we loved the separate twin beds for the kids. So nice being so close to the volcano, it made for easy access and a short drive after a day of hiking. Everyone loved the day bed on the porch and the wildlife that came to visit.

A wonderful stay

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful cottage / house for four nights in September. We absolutely loved it. It's sparkling clean, and fully equipped with everything we needed. We did our own cooking, without eating out, so we really appreciated the kitchen. The owners put together a great "manual" with various procedures, activity recommendations, and more. The location is peaceful and perfect for visiting the National Park, Hilo, and the coast.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was comfortable, conveniently located. Grounds were attractive, appreciated the games cabinet; bed was comfortable. Would happily return. The only negative was the wood stove for heating and kindling must have been wet- could not get a fire going.

Our favorite place on the island

We have now stayed 3 times in this home and totally love it! Perfect spot. Close to the park and volcano and Hilo. Quiet and can see the stars from the yard. The swinging bed is perfect for laying out and reading a book.

Quaint cottage

This house was adorable! Tucked into a private setting but only minutes from food, gas, parks and everything available in Volcano. The house was immaculate, super clean. Communication with the owner was easy and fast. The beds were comfortable, it was perfect for our quick 2 night trip to see Volcano National Park.

Great home in amazing location

Lots of privacy with rainforest all around. We listened to the coqui frogs all night. Only a few minutes from the national park. Recently renovated with modern floors and windows. Nicely stocked kitchen but no dishwasher.

Perfect house in the perfect location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family was only on the Big Island for 5 nights. We spent 3 nights up in the Kona area, but wanted to spend 2 nights closer to the National Park. We found this gem and are so glad that we booked it. Communication with the hosts was seamless. The house itself was perfect. We actually wished we would have been able to stay longer. Everything was so clean, it had all the amenities that we needed, and the beds and pillows were really comfortable (which is huge for me). My daughter spent much of her time reading on the bed swing on the porch. The location to Volcanoes NP and the Hilo area was great. Would 100% recommend this house to anyone.

Close to Volcano National Park. Convenient to Hilo (east) and South Point (west) Quiet location, safe neighborhood. Comfortable, good bed and handy kitchen. The wood fireplace was very appreciated. Two weeks of seeing a lot, and doing nothing.

A Slice of Heaven

We absolutely loved staying at this sweet house. We fell asleep to the lullaby of nature and rain. We spent most of our time on the porch taking in cool breezes and slow moments. We were surprised with many extras in the house: beach toys, beach towels, games, umbrellas, spices, and much more. You made us feel right at home! We had a wonderful stay! Mahalo!

Lovely Property!

We had such a wonderful stay here. Such a cute little home. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. We loved the privacy. The home was very clean and comfortable. Loved the decor as well. I have one recommendation: just need one more blanket for the big bed. We stayed at several hotels/resorts on the Big Island and this was, by far, our favorite place. The nearby restaurants are close but limited in number so make a reservation. We really enjoyed the Kīlauea Lodge Restaurant-great service and food.

Happy at Mele Nani Hideaway!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lovely little house with plenty of elbow room for our group of 3. We spent most of our time exploring the Park, so weren't able to take full advantage of the swing on the lanai. Nice kitchen made it easy to cook breakfasts and dinner. A few ideas for improvement: We were only given 1 dish towel for the visit, so I would suggest that they supply a few more. We also needed the spare tp roll from a drawer next to the sink and it was wet, so possibly some leakage from the faucet? These are small things in the big picture, because you're in Hawaii!
