This was a nice, cozy cabin! We loved the proximity to the Volcano National Park, the fire stove heater, and the lush vegetation. We did wish the host responded to our question about trash and that the hot tub got hotter. Overall, solid stay.
This place was so much fun. So magically tucked away from the rest of the world. We loved returning to this place after several days of hiking, swimming and exploring around the island. The property was exactly as advertised. Comfortable, clean, and perfectly located for Volcano National Park. Due to its proximity, we were able to be one of the first to the park when the volcano began to erupt!Zero complaints!
The whole family loved our stay at this cute and cozy cabin in the rainforest. The cabin is well stocked with everything you need and we enjoyed the gas fireplace and the hot tub. The cabin is close to restaurants, a market, and Volcanoes NP. Ten out of ten we recommend!
We loved this rainforest hideaway for wildlife viewing and exploring the park. Well equipped. Kiddo enjoyed the games and family movie nights when the rain came in. Hot tub is a bonus too. Just be aware that there's no covered area for grilling or eating outside.

Peaceful and relaxing
We loved our stay! We hung out in the mossy, cushy lawn for hours. Furniture and beds were comfy and kitchen pretty well equip. We loved the jacuzzi! Such a cute, quite neighborhood. We walked to the store and nearby ohelo cafe. We also biked to the neighborhood farmers market on Sunday. Close to the park. We didn't even want to leave because it was so relaxing just hanging out and looking at the surrounding Forrest.
This is the most perfect place to stay in Volcano. It is remote, set within the gorgeous lush rainforest, yet if you have a car you can see everthing you would want to see. VERY comfortable and private, stocked with housewares, blankets, towels, and shower supplies, games, instructions and suggestions. The host is available and very helpful. I would suggest buying distilled water because all the island's water supply is rainwater. There is a water filter pitcher available if you are okay with the rainwater. The place is truly a wonderful home away from home. And the Big Island is a magical land, deeply spiritual and steeped in history and tradition. There is something for everyone. Aloha!
This home is a gem set in a lovely tropical garden. It's comfortable, roomy--large windows let in light and lush views of the surrounding garden. Sun in the morning on the front porch and mid-afternoon on the back deck. We used the wonderful hot tub nearly every day of our week-long visit. Songbirds sang and pheasants visited every day. Living room furniture was comfortable and NOT worn. The bed was firm and comfy. The vases of fresh anthurium were a lovely touch. The close proximity to the national park was a plus.
Unfortunately, the poor quality of dishware in the kitchen (red paint peeling off wine glasses, old, plastic plates, foodstuff cooked onto the bottom of a saucepan, badly scratched other pans, at least one sticky cabinet shelf, etc) pulled this 5-plus star rental to a 4. The owner/manager said replacing these items is his number one priority. I hope he does.
This cabin is comfortable and extremely well outfitted, everything we needed was there. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, all the pots, pans, baking, crock pot, rice cooker, coffee pot, etc., etc. The hot tub was the perfect temperature and immaculately clean. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Just a lovely cozy cabin tucked in a gorgeous rainforest setting. Waking to the birds chirping and listening to the frogs at night was charming.
This is in a rainforest and the environment is damp. We come from Oregon so damp is something we are pretty used to but not necessarily tropical damp. Run the dehumidifier at night, I noticed the damp at night only.
The proximity to Volcanos National Park (5 or so minutes) is perfect, especially for a quick trip after dinner and dark to see the glow of the lava lake, a sight not to be missed.
As a former VRBO owner, i dare to say that this property is absolutely perfect. Obviously, everything you need is provided and fully functionnal but what makes it perfect is the attention given to details: the jungle garden is beautifull and well maintained, board games are provided as well as the very much appreciated binoculars for birds and for the volcano. Lamps and batteries are also given and very useful to visit a lava tube. There was a clean jacuzzi ready for us and the path can be illuminated at night. Coffee was provide... Well, the property is charming and makes you feel cosy at home
That is one of the best vrbo we have been too (and we are owners ourselves). Quiet, all amenities, comfortable bed, great location in a lush forest, minutes away from volcano park. Highly recommend.
The cabin is surrounded by lush vegetation so it is quiet and secluded. The sound of birds and frogs added to the charm. The cabin is cozy and has everything youâd need. The beds are comfortable. It was nice to relax in the hot tub.
Everything was smooth sailing. There were some basic pantry items, so if you can, check what they have before stocking up. That said, the closest place to pick up provisions is 25 minutes away. All amenities were as described. Smart tv provided every conceivable streaming option. Wi-Fi was also fast and reliable as was the cell service
Brita filtered water was provided so bottled water is unnecessary. Kitchen had all major appliances and dinnerware. Four days leisurely exploring Volcano Nat'l Park at any hour of the day then "chilling" in the hot tub and the cabin was a luxury. You won't be disappointed. Lava viewing tip, get to the lookout an hour before sunrise rather than sunset. Zero crowd and getting up that early shouldn't be a problem if your body is still in your mainland time zone. You also need to take into account the 20 minute hike to the lookout point from the Devastation Trail parking lot.
Although our stay was cut short by flight changes and delays were really enjoyed our time in the cabin. Everything was as pictured. We enjoyed the close proximity to Volcanoes National Park. Overall we had a great time on the big island starting at This cabin. Thank you!
We came for four nights to contemplate our 55 years of marriage, our lives, and especially the life and death of our older son who died 23 years ago on June 8âthe date we began our stay. We have made a practice of being away from our home in Honolulu on June 8. This trip was especially meaningful thanks to the beauty, quiet, privacy, and simplicity of the cottage and grounds. We spent many hours in the hot tub talking and listening. Meditation came easily. For grandeur, we drove the short distance to Desolation trail in volcanoes park. We went at 10:00 pm as the crowd was thinning. A moving experience.
The cottage and grounds are perfect! One piece of advice to visitors: Leave your phone at home. I did. It was wonderful!
Thanks, Ken and Ann
What a gem!
So glad we found this cabin in Volcano, just minutes from volcanoes national park. It allowed us to have a homebase to go and explore daily. Highly recommend.
This cozy cabin surrounded by lush rainforest was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Everything we needed was there along with many additional thoughtful touches. The hosts were great at communicating with us and the property was just minutes from the entrance to volcano national park. The fireplace kept us warm in the evenings and the hot tub was a real delight. It was also very close to several markets and tasty restaurants, including a wonderful Thai food truck! We look forward to coming back again soon!
What a great cabin so accessible to volcanoes park and restaurants . Inside had all amenities needed and outside a great back lanai to sun on and watch the apapane birds sing in the ohia trees above. The hot tub in the yard was a nice treat too ! Will be back
I am a picky traveler, so take my comments as such. This is a cabin, and it is cute. As with any wood cabin, I know as I own one, you need to keep up with cob webs, this cabin has plenty. The cabin does not have a dishwasher, leaving me a little concerned about the cleanliness. The towels all have an odor from laundry soap, and we are sensitive to odors. The bed linens are old and need replacing. The cabin has all you need to stay in Volcano and that part is great. We are hotel people, not rental people.
This was our third or fourth stay at this lovely property. The cabin smells of cedar and the yard is absolutely enchanting fern forest. We love this place; it never disappoints
Property is fantastic. Gorgeous cabin in tropical forest setting, very accessible to Volcanoes National Park. House was very well equipped. Immaculate. Definitely would stay here again if visiting the volcanoes.
We are an extended family born here in the Islands. Grew up enjoying the outdoors, spending many days at the beach and exploring what our Island has to offer. The outdoors, hiking especially up here at the Volcano National park is a favorite place to be.
We chose this property for the cozy and quaint feel that it has to offer. Updated with charm and added some old with the new . Love the surrounding area with all of the Ohi'a trees , fern, ginger plants, Camellia trees and the music of the birds that sing all day.
Private, relaxing setting. Outside hot tub to soak in surrounded by the forested area. Deck with shade from the porch umbrella makes for a nice place to sit under to enjoy the outdoors. Great location in to the park.
