Isolated cottage with good view close to many winery and Brewers.
If you like to stay in a private , isolated, yet with good view you will like my place . There is a one track rail road above the house but donât run many times that make you feel annoying. The gravel driveway is quite steep at the top of hill but you wonât stuck and Iâm working on brick pave even though take time to finish by myself. 22 minutes to Charlottesville. Just few miles to vineyards, breweries, Shenandoah national Park, crozet.
Location was in the middle of all the winery hopping we wanted to do. Had to travel a bit for restaurants, but we ended up using food that we brought so didn't need it much. We weren't bothered by the train since reading the reviews, but it did come at different hours of the night each day.
Our stay was nice and quiet, we had camp fires nightly, and while the train is loud it scarcely goes by. My only true issue was the long, uphill, potholed, gravel, dirt, and Mason block driveway was very difficult to ascend on motorcycles,. Overall it was a pleasure
The house had three clean bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Kitchen and living room were spacious and had everything we needed. The house had a very welcoming atmosphere overall. The view from the deck was beautiful. We had a great stay - thank you.
This was a convenient location for us on our trip. It was clean and had everything we needed for our one night stay. It was very loud between the interstate and railroad tracks, but it wasnât a huge deal for just one night.
This house was perfectly sized for three adults and a baby-- felt safe to have our two-year-old wandering around and had three rooms so she could nap/sleep while we enjoyed the patio.
Everything was very clean and we had all we needed! Close drive to Shenandoah!
Overpriced! Absolutely disgusting with mouse droppings.
To start off, the manager/owner. He was great with responding to questions quickly. We had an issue with the app and couldn't get the address and he provided it. We had to reach out to get the access code to the house door due to it never being provided. We shouldn't of had too. Now for the not so great. Once we were able to get into the house you are immediately smacked in the face with the smell of incense that the owner burns. It is very strong and personally i cant stand the smell. We contemplated leaving. Upon entry after choking on the smell. Your eyes gravitate towards the dishwasher that is absolutely discussing and dirty and had a wooden spatula inside. Next we noticed how discussing the stove was, with built up grease inside, residue of something on the outside with a pot on top that had liquid residue that smelled like burnt oil. The stove is missing a coil for cooking. It was so discussing we bought food and refused to use anything in the kitchen. From there its hard not to notice the wall next to the stove with grease and oil splatter all over the wall. And directly above the stove on the ceiling there is heat and grease markings and a brown spot from excessive heat from a burner. The microwave handle was greasy. The fridge had missing chelf bars to hold items, that looked like they were ripped out. Anyone staying for an extended time wouldn't be able to utilize the fridge. The list is so long of issues i cant fit it all. Absolutely overpriced!!!
The home is in a fairly rough neighborhood. Having said that, the home was what I expected. The house is very dated but it was clean. The beds were comfortable. We did not hear the train although the road noise from the highway is fairly loud when you are outside. It served our purposes well.
There was food in the freezer, fridge and on counters. All were past their prime. Property manager said they had used cleaners that were not their regular.
Trains in the middle of the night were a surprise.
Pleasant decor.
The house was very tidy and clean, except that my thirteen year old granddaughter found dirty underwear under her bed.
We had a very difficult time driving to it in the dark...1am. I realize you can't control GPS but it got confused repeatedly and we had to back up in the pitch dark more than once. Sort of Twilight Zone. Finally found it.
The location of the house was perfect for what we had planned for the weekend which was to attend several wineries over our 3-day weekend. A lot of them are withing 10-15 minutes from the house. We were also only 10 minutes from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park so it was an easy access to hiking and picnicking. The reviews do mention that Interstate 64 runs close by the house and you can see it through the trees and it was noisy but we were only at the house at night so it wasn't that disturbing. However the train that runs right behind the house did come through at 2:00 am and it was frightening until we figured it out was the train. We used the firepit both nights and there was plenty of wood available for our use so that was a plus. Make sure to bring your own lighter though. The house is a little outdated but everything worked and the beds were comfortable.
One story normal house - not a high end place. Three bedrooms of good size, and one bathroom. Nice large TV and front sliding doors to deck with view of the mountains. Yes, the highway is 1/4 mile away and a rail line behind the house. Kitchen has what you should need. We enjoyed our stay!
A nice house - plenty of room, good kitchen, three decent bedrooms and the most comfortable bedside rug imaginable! Access was fine in our two wheel drive car. The only problem is it directly overlooks a loud freeway so it was too noisy to enjoy the deck or outdoor space. It was quiet inside so fine as a base or if you don't mind traffic noise when sitting outside.
