This charming 1940s-era two-story private home is cozy yet spacious, featuring 3 œ bedrooms, a comfortable family room, and a fully stocked kitchenâproviding visitors, wedding parties, conference attendees, or video crews with the comfort of home and the convenience of a downtown location. With its timeless architecture and unique character, this home reflects the charm of its era while being close to shops, restaurants, museums, the train station, and tour buses. And for outdoor enthusiasts, itâs just minutes from the park strip, coastal trail, Westchester Lagoon, Ship Creek, and stunning mountain views.
This house has the potential to be awesome, but is ruined by its condition and cleanliness. The first thing that strikes you upon entering is the smell. It smells as if it has been sealed up for years with no fresh air. Very musty smelling. After you get used to the smell, itâs hard to ignore the wall to wall shag carpet that is throughout the house, or the fact that every piece of furniture in the living room has holes in it.
The host was very nice and helpful, and the house was a good place to say. The house needs some work, but I get the feeling that it is a fairly new purchase and a work in progress.
Had 3 days in Alaska before our cruise.
Large house with good amenities and good location for downtown.
Some work needed to repair window frames which offset the otherwise very good experience.
Very comfortable.
Excellent host who was in regular contact
This property has multiple bedrooms which served our family well during our short stay. Bob, the owner, responded quickly when we had questions. The home is clean and well maintained. The location is also close to the sights we visited. Definitely recommend it.
We loved the location and the amount of space. Beds were comfortable. We wish there would have been enough chairs, dishes, and towels for our entire group. Just be aware extra people beyond six are charged an additional fee.
This was a perfect place to stay while attending an Anchorage Conference. Instead of booking several hotel rooms, we decided to book this house. It has plenty of room, parking and we were able to discuss the different sessions we were attending. This will definitely be our go-to place for future conferences--and for play!
Here to see Hamilton. Perfect very convenient older house. Comfortable beds. No complaints. Interesting books. Very much appreciated being able to walk easily to downtown and coastal trail
We saw this listing and were excited to stay based on the reviews. We understood that the house was older and we were fine with that. When we arrived, we saw two exterior windows broken and boarded up with particle board, we also saw window trim ripped off walls and placed behind the loungers in the living room, and the house was just not clean. We found our bathroom towels in the dryer on the last day we were there. It looked like the house had some leaks in the walls and the downstairs toilet didnât flush. This house could be super nice but definitely needs some work.its in a great location, close to downtown and the host was very responsive.
Stayed here with a group of 5 friends. Fun, quirky place. Plenty of beds & bedrooms. Recommend downstairs bedrooms as the sun sets quite late and some light does get in.
Spent a couple of nights here on our way from Denali/Talkeetna to Seward. The house was old but nice. The downstairs is a little dark and maybe not ideal for anyone who struggles with stairs as they are pretty steep. My only real complaint was the kitchen was not clean. The refrigerator still had food left in it from previous travelers and needed a good cleaning. There seemed to be a little confusion about when we were coming so maybe that contributed to this. Got to meet and speak to the owner who was extremely nice and helpful. I would stay here again, but please clean the kitchen a little better.
This house was in a great location for my trip with my friends. Everything was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Check in and check out was easy. The host responded to all my messages in a very timely manner. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
Bob was able to book us relatively last minute and was a great host. He popped by to make sure we were settled. The house is what it is, and definitely isnât âmodernâ. That said, it had everything we needed. The stairs are a little steep and are definitely âof the eraâ. Thereâs a few low doorways to get to the downstairs which could be tough for people with mobility challenges or small children. The house could easily sleep up to 8 and has plenty of space for cooking and hosting a larger group. Of note there is not a large dining table (itâs also not shown in the pictures) but as long as you arenât hoping yo sit 8 around the table thereâs very few places that can beat this place for cost and space in Anchorage!
An updated home with 1,920 sq ft., a modern kitchen and full baths, 4 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, plus a 5th (semi-private) bedroom with a double bed, and a family room with a sleeper sofa. Perfect for larger groups or families needing separate spaces. Backyard with a beautiful garden (in summer). New bedding, towels, shower curtains, blankets, housewares, and kitchen items. Decorated with a touch of The Last Frontier and reminiscent of Anchorage's tent city and gold rush era.
