Great older home in South Anchorage

Our family stayed here at the start of our Alaskan adventure. It’s a big older home with lots of room to spread out. The only downfall for us was the fact that we booked several adventures taking us north and that added time to our outgoing and return drives. But that’s on us for selecting a south Anchorage location. Hosts were responsive to questions and the home was clean.

Perfect Base Camp For Alaska Adventures

We took a group of high school seniors to Anchorage for their Senior Trip. This house was the perfect base camp. Most of the excursions we were doing were outside of anchorage within two hours' drive in different directions. The house was the perfect location and size for our group. Everyone had their own room and there was space to spare. The house is much bigger than the pictures imply and more beautiful than I was expecting. It was clean, filled with everything we needed and as private and secluded as we were hoping. Communication with the owner was instant. Any question we had was answered within minutes. I would highly recommend this for families, large groups and anyone else looking for a great place to stay while in Anchorage!! Thanks for adding greatness and class to our Alaskan adventure and helping to make memories these young people will never forget.

Perfect location and accommodations for all of our family. Everyone had their own room and then there was lots of room for the family to gather together. Great place to stay before going on our land and cruise tour. Easy check-in and check out process and owners are very helpful. Great Alaskan experience!

Great house for a larger group / family

Seven family members thoroughly enjoyed staying at the hillside house - room for all of us to have some space as well as great areas for the family to gather. Multiple sitting/living room areas and a big kitchen with dining area. The host was responsive and helpful - the area is peaceful and quiet. Would certainly recommend, especially for larger groups!

We could not have found a better vacation home after a cramped 7 day cruise! Unbelievable amount of space, Large spacious comfortable bedrooms. All the utensils, kitchen supplies that we needed. The owner very pleasant and courteous. Highly, highly recommended!

Great stay.

We loved this house. The house is huge. It is well insulated. Our group ranged from 8 y/o to 75 y/o. We could not hear each other in the morning. The house was comfortable and secluded, but close enough to town to be conveniently located. We would absolutely stay here again.

House was quiet, located off the road. Several family rooms. Comfortable bedrooms and well-appointed kitchen. It was a last-minute stay due to family emergency. Owner very accommodating to give us same day check in.

We rented this property as our home base for the 4 generation family vacation, and it was perfect! SO much space to spread out and have our privacy, as well as the large family get together areas. Loved everything about this home.

O’Malley Road

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Anchorage. The house offered plenty of space for our entire group. It is centrally located and made it easy to get around. Bob was great and took care of all our need.

Secluded hillside getaway

This spacious and secluded house on a private road in Anchorage, AK, was an absolute gem. After a long journey, finding a beer in the refrigerator was a delightful touch. The house provided ample space for my family of four, with every comfort thoughtfully provided. A resident moose added a unique charm to the property. The huge kitchen, cozy dining area, and back deck were perfect for family time and outdoor grilling. The fully stocked amenities, incredibly comfortable beds, and blackout curtains ensured a restful stay. The overall vibe of the house was fantastic. We highly recommend this home & will be staying here again on our next trip to AK!!

Quiet, large home

House was perfect for our group of three couples for a week. There's plenty of space to spread out and have privacy and also gathering places to enjoy as a group. We loved the kitchen for breakfast and coffee every morning. It's a super quiet location and easy access to all of Anchorage. Owner promptly responded when contacted. It feels like you're stepping into the 80's when you're in the house, but it's super clean and comfortable.

Great house in a quiet neighborhood

I started in the house together with my colleagues for about five weeks, when we needed to work in Anchorage. There is a lot of space in the house and comfortable bed rooms for five persons who don't want to share a room. It was very easy to communicate with the host and he helped us with a lot of things.

Great place to stay

This is a huge home with plenty of space for our 2 families to stay. Modern, fully stocked kitchen and spacious living room. We enjoyed the Alaskan decor also. Very homey and the kids one 9 and one almost 2 had plenty of room. Could easily accommodate more. There were parts of the house we never utilized. Great location to shopping and of course the zoo. Loved the wooded property also. As a bonus it was 5 minutes from my son's house

Semi- secluded house south Anchorage

Great house, very large, beautiful rooms. Couldn’t ask for a better representation of an Alaskan home. We had a large owl that visited us from time to time. We were close to some great hiking trails in the Chugach park and views of Anchorage. Also easy access to all parts of Anchorage. Downtown was about 15- 20 minutes away. The owners were easy to communicate with and answered questions promptly. Overall we felt like we were in Alaska and not the city of Anchorage.

Good for large group

Beautiful house. Older and needs some TLC but comfortable for the 6 of us. A few minor inconveniences that could have been avoided if the house had been inspected and prepared for our arrival. The major problem (no hot water) was very promptly attended to but it does take hours for the tank to heat so no baths or showers after a long day of travel. Had we known we would not be able to use the fireplaces due to a down draft problem, we may have reconsidered our booking. Overall, considering we basically just used it as a place to sleep, it suited our needs.

Lots of room with a bit of a check in snafu

We were in town for a funeral of a family member and the house was ideal for providing a lot of space for the family -- also with three different areas to congregate on top of 2 large dining areas. . It is close a nice part of town across from the zoo. We ended up getting into town as communicated to the owner though and had not been given the code for the keypad. Several of us congregated by the front door frantically trying to call the number provided as we needed to change for the viewing of our loved one-- no answer. A Google search allowed us to reach the owner who was out of town and provided us the necessary code. It is possible the snafu was on our end, but after over 15 VRBO stays, this isn't something we'd experienced before!

Made all the difference

We rented this house while we were in town for my son's wedding. We wanted a place where both sets of grandparents were able to stay with us as well as some visiting groomsmen. The house was perfect for what we needed. It was great to be able to all stay under one roof and not try to work out social settings from hotel rooms. The beds were ultra comfortable, and the bedrooms were so inviting; again, much better than a hotel would have been. The house was big enough to host a couple small gatherings with the bride's family and with bridesmaids and groomsmen as well. The industrial sized freezer/refrigerator allowed us to stock up on food, and we hardly ate out at all while we visited. There were some toys for visiting children, and plenty of Alaska books and visitors guides provided to give us an idea of what to do when the wedding activities were over. The only things I would check on before renting: the dishwasher and the grill. We ran one load through the dishwasher 3 times before we gave up and hand washed everything while we were there. Hand washing dishes is not something I do at home so I certainly wasn't thrilled to have to do it on our mini-vacation. We tried to cook brats on the grill one evening when it was fairly warm, but the grill is pretty run-down and we ended up moving them to the indoor grill instead. I would definitely rent this home again as it was rally just so comfortable and inviting. Before renting, however, I would definitely make sure the dishwasher had been fixed or replaced. :)

Owners have lived in Alaska for over 40 years and are a semi-retired couple who travel extensively in the 'Lower 48' but continue to call Alaska 'home'. During the summer they enjoy spending time on the Kenai River fishing for Alaska salmon. During the fall they enjoy the Adirondacks in NY where they have a small cabin on the Ausable River. The winters are spent mainly in Florida avoiding the cold snowy weather they have enjoyed all those years. They maintain a small apartment over the garage at said property for when they are in Anchorage.
