Sand Dunes was the perfect location and cottage for a relaxing, low key, week on the cape! The cottage had everything we needed and was close to the national seashore for days at the beach. The whole family enjoyed the view, fire pit and hammock in the back yard. A great spot to grill dinner and watch the boats come in and out. Will absolutely be looking to stay again next year!
Nice place! Updated and modern. Located on the bay with a dock and a nice area to picnic in the yard. It has about 5 beach chairs, beach umbrellas, 4 quality boogie boards, and 2 kayaks with life vests. There is a basement to store your own goods out of the weather. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, and robot vacuum are nice conveniences. It is located about 400 ft from Rt 6, so there is some noticeable traffic noise, but it is not too loud. Overall, I recommend and would go again.
A nice clean little cottage by the water (In land lake) nice long dock to fish on, kayaks to enjoy the lake, beautiful view of the water, outdoor shower to clean up after kayaking and fishing, modern updated kitchen, comfortable bed and sofas, enjoyed biking on the rail trail, 100 public beaches everywhere to explore, a few wineries, great restaurants on the water and seal watching boat cruises. We were lucky to have mostly sunny days all week.
We had a wonderful time here. The location was absolutely ideal for us - near enough to Orleans that a trip to a grocery or restaurant was quick and easy, but also the Cape Cod National Seashore is just a few miles away. We were absolutely amazed at the cottage - a beautiful, bright, well appointed place up on a point of land that sticks out into the water a bit, so that the living room and dining room literally have a spectacular 180 degree views of the inlet. We had bald eagles perching in the trees right above the house, and saw egrets, herons, and many other birds right from the yard. The hosts were VERY responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!
From start to finish, this was an exceptional stay. The owners are a breeze to communicate with, highly responsive, and have several thoughtful notes around the house. The cabinets are well stocked, as well as the bathroom - a nice touch! The shower takes some figuring out, but that's an adventure in and of itself. The pictures, while gorgeous, don't even do this property justice. From the well kept lawn to the lovely flowers and perfectly spaced trees, a week spent doing nothing else but enjoying this home would still be well spent. It's perfectly spaced from several lovely beaches, and Rock Harbor (a five minute drive) offers nearly endless rock and shell-hound potential. Keep an eye out for the horseshoe crabs! In short, amazing, and I can't wait to return next year.
Loved it , perfect location and accommodations . We will be back
Everything went smoothly and we had everything and more that we needed . Owners were available for questions and the house was clean , homey with beautiful views from all points !
This is a gem of a find for a family of 4. The location is beautiful with a wonderful yard, beautiful spot on the cove, relaxing hammock and everything you need to enjoy the view.
The house is nicely appointed and very clean. The outdoor shower under the trees was perfect!
Our family of four stayed here for a week. This place is wonderful. It gives you the Cape Cod cottage feel with modern amenities and views that put you in instant vacation mode. Everywhere you looked was a water view, our daughters loved the hammock, and we had a great time on the kayaks. We would definitely rent this place again.
this was our second summer at Sand Dunes and it was fabulous! The cottage is spotless, the yard is paradise! we love everyday being able to wake up and go to sleep with the sounds of nature! Our only feedback is to consider updating the beds/ mattresses.
Thank you for a great stay!
Great location near Eastham-Orleans line. House was very clean and well furnished, missing only a fish basket for use on the outside grill. We loved watching the sun rise over the cove and the moonlight over the water at night. Our adult daughter and a friend joined us for a few days and fully enjoyed the two ocean kayaks. Commercial washer and dryer made laundry easy, and we appreciated the beach chairs and umbrellas. It was the loveliest setting for a summer rental we have enjoyed in many summers coming to the Cape. Highly recommended for a couple or small family.
Best place we have ever stayed in 9 years coming to the Cape!
This house was wonderful! It is one of 8 or so cabins, with its own secluded yard and panoramic ocean views. The light filled one story house has a main living/dining/kitchen area that is beautiful, has everything needed with panoramic ocean views on all sides. Windows galore! Two bedrooms were small but had plenty of storage and nice windows. Small bathroom was also well equipped and really cute, also an outdoor shower. Large basement had EVERYTHING needed for beach days, kayaking, two bikes and anything else you you may want to do. Looking at the water, boats and fishermen while we relaxed, watched TV and cooked was a treat. We have been coming to the Cape for 9 years and this is the best house we have stayed in by far. Some linens were included, fitted sheets and pillowcases were not provided. However there were plenty of blankets and pillows etc. Wish we could stay here every single year from now until forever! :)
Sandy and Marty have a lovely cottage on the cove. It is incredibly well maintained, clean, and is stocked with all vacation necessities. We found the owners to be very reponsive when we reached out with a question at the beginning of our trip. My husband and I have been staying at the Cape for over a decade and this cottage is the nicest one we have had the pleasure to rent. Our young children thoroughly enjoyed use of the yard and we appreciated having morning coffees overlooking the water.
Itâs a delightful, cottage, perfect for two adults who want to be near town but enjoy viewing the water all day long. Well equipped, two bedrooms, cozy, nice big TV, great new couches, perfect little kitchen. Mattresses werenât great; twins were very firm and the Queen bed was a little soft and squeaky but not too bad. I would definitely go back, 180 degree windows up and down the town cove, so cozy and homey. Really loved it.
Cozy, Well-Maintained Cottage with Beautiful Views
A perfect place for our family of four (two adults and two teens) to spend a week on the Cape. Well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. New/updated family room furniture from what's depicted in the listing was also a welcome surprise. Communications with the owners was very easy. We enjoyed coffee each morning an cocktails each evening outside with beautiful views of the cove. Centrally located between Orleans and Eastham, the cottage was short driving distance to bayside beaches, national seashore beaches and kettle ponds.
Very quaint cottage on the water that checked all the boxes for us. The kitchen/family/dining room are all open with really nice water views. The 2 bedrooms are a bit small but did the trick. Note no AC in the bedrooms but itâs cool enough at night that we had no problems with just the fans. Only one bathroom, but the outdoor shower was great. The location is very convenient but is just off a main road. Most of all the views from the property and hammock are awesome.
We loved a lot about this house. The location is beautiful and there are great views. The yard is magical, with beautiful outdoor seating, hammock, a nice little rolling hill and space for the kids to run around. Great spot for kayaking and there are two single kayaks to use. We had hoped the cove was good for swimming but were disappointed to find it was not. The location is near several beaches but you do have to drive and deal with parking (and paying). The house itself is neat and cute and was very clean. The beds are comfortable and so is the rest of the furniture. The shower is a little small but fine and thereâs also an outdoor shower. The dishwasher wasnât working when we were there and we had a lot of back and forth with the owner but ultimately were not able to resolve the issue during our stay so we hand washed. The grill is nice and works well. The kitchen is decently stocked with pots etc but not great if you really love to cook. I always bring my own knives, cutting boards, and one good pot and was glad to have my own stuff in addition. There are a few board games and no kids toys, but they do have some nice floats for kids and good beach chairs and umbrellas. Overall, a really nice spot and a lovely house.
We had a great time, really enjoyed the location, water views, kayaking and fishing most mornings, and the dock was great to have right out the door.
The wildlife was great too, ospreys, gulls, terns, seals, etcâŠ
We really enjoyed first encounter beach with our boys, age 4 & 6, would love to come back next year.
We loved our stay and really didnât want to leave. Most beautiful location right on the water. The house was very clean, beds comfortable, good water pressure, outside sitting great. The owner was very responsive. This property ticked all of our boxes.
Wonderful property. Has everything - water view, comfortable well-equipped house, great location and terrific friendly and responsive owners. A week to remember.
