This was a family vacation - with our 2 adult children - and it worked out perfectly. The house is modern, clean and has a well-stocked kitchen. The views are awesome out onto the marsh with the bay in the distance. We spent a lot of time on the beautiful deck enjoying the scenery and the fresh air. The location is great, not too busy in that area. I would look to rent again next time we do a Cape vacation.
The home was wonderful. There were spectacular views of the marsh and bay from almost every window. Many areas to sit throughout the home and on the outside decks. The home was very well equipped and comfortable.
Michelle was very helpful and quick to respond to my questions.
We hope to return next year.

We kayaked feet from out deck every day exploring the marshes, the "bench" at the Wellfleet Audubon or over to Lt. Island. We couldn't get enough of the Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Little Egret, Great Egret, Great Cormorant or the Belted Kingfisher diving down in front of us to scoop up its meal!
Sitting on the deck first thing in the morning listening to the Song Sparrow, Prairie Warbler, Black-capped Chickadee, Baltimore Oriole, Northern Cardinal, Redwing Blackbird and of course plenty of Willet's was so relaxing and the Sunset's are AMAZING...great bookends to your day.
Every beach is close from Ocean side beaches for body surfing of Head of the Meadow or Balston beach, to the bayside tidal beaches of Skaket Beach and First Encounter which also has a tidal river.
Wonderful excursions worth doing 10-30 mins from the house is the Marconi Beach walk, the Dune Walk in Truro, visiting the Wellfleet Audubon, biking on the RacePoint biking trails, bopping into Provincetown to walk on the Causeway, visit the Provincetown Museum and Pilgrim Monument or a small hike at Fort Hill right in Eastham!
Michelle the owner is very sweet and immediately answer any questions that you have - this house is really a gem! This is our third year at this house and we just love every minute we are there!
The views are lovely and the location is very convenient .
My husband, my sister, and I throughly enjoyed our stay. The views of the marsh and the sky were just magnificent.. Both the ocean and bayside beaches were great and just a short drive from the house.
We liked this house so much weâve already reserved it for two weeks next year. We particularly liked the privacy, the views and access to the tidal marsh for kayaking and brief swims within two hours of high tide. The back porch overlooking the marsh is very pleasant with a retractable awning, which provides needed shade. Other features like a hammock, outdoor shower and gas grill, as well as high top seating for four under an umbrella are fun touches. The kitchen and spacious living room are both fine for a vacation stay. Air conditioning, wi-fi and laundry are excellent.
This house and its location are special, but every family has different needs and priorities. Here are two things to know. The two upstairs bed rooms with queen beds provide beautiful views of the marsh and are lovely. But the third bedroom is in the relatively dark basement, which may not be appealing to more timid family members. On the other hand, some teenagers may enjoy the distance from the rest of a family this space provides.
One other consideration is the put-in area for kayaks is very muddy. This is no problem for experienced boaters, but novice kayakers and little kids might find this water access frustrating. Once we figured out the mud, floating up and down in the marsh around high tide was a highlight of our vacation.
This is the second year that we have stayed at this house and again, it was perfect! If we are not kayaking out the backdoor , doing a Dune walk (highly recommended), checking out the Wellfleet Audubon, body surfing at The Head of the Meadow or Ballston beach, catching horseshoe crabs at Skaket beach, riding our bikes at Race Point...all of these within 10-20 minutes of the house... we are sitting on the deck enjoying the peacefulness of the view, seeing Great Blue Heron's, Snowy Egret's and listening to the Prairie Warbler's and Song Sparrow's. We have already booked for next year! Check out the Wicked Oyster for dinner - they have a delicate touch with their deep fryer - in particular their fried calamari and the seafood stew was awesome! We needed to contact Michelle twice and both times she responded immediately!
We absolutely loved the property. We went kayaking twice daily, never mind the times we explored the tidal creek during low tide! My son caught a diamondback terrapin turtle and two horseshoe crabs the first time in the water, never mind all the fiddler crabs and great blue heron sitings! Spending our mornings on the lower deck with our coffee taking in all the birds and the quiet is the best way to start your day. Ending our day on the deck was a way to just relax before going to bed! The only time we went inside was to cook, and sleep...the rest of our time was on the deck. We explored a different beach every day, all 30 minutes or less from the house. We contacted the owner a couple of times and she got back to us immediately, she was very responsive! we would absolutely rent this house again!
Beautiful sunsets overlooking the marsh and the bay. Very comfortable and spacious house with lots of space in the deck out back. Owner is very responsive to any questions that come up.
Our group of 6 adults shared this house and enjoyed our stay. There was more than adequate space, the house is well furnished, and the views of the salt marsh area and bay were breathtaking. In addition to the house, the grounds had several inviting areas to relax, talk and/or read a book. These areas were also well lite for nighttime lounging. We cooked in the outdoor grill one night and that was fun. We had the benefit of wonderful weather our week on the cape. The laundry made it ez to wash clothes so there is no need to bring clothes for the entire week. We will likely rent here again.
Beautiful natural setting! A more informative, detailed listing would have been appreciated.
The best thing about this house is the setting amidst the salt marshes and nature of Cape Cod! It is lovely! The sunsets are very beautiful and easy to enjoy off of the backyard deck. There is Wi-Fi (not in the listing). A more up to date and detailed listing would have been very helpful for us. We would not have rented this property given what we now know. It did not work for our family.
My review is 3 stars for the following reasons: 1. we rented this property instead of others because it had a hot tub. The hot tub was not in working order (and has subsequently been deleted from the listing). 2. the property is characterized as "waterfront" which was also a primary factor for us. It's better characterized as "marshfront" with a "water view". Its very pretty, but there is no direct walking access to the bay beaches that you see in the pictures. It is 9/10 of a mile to the public beach and, unless you have an Eastham sticker, you cannot park at the beach. 3. During our stay, there was never enough water in the tidal marsh to kayak anywhere. The listing should be clearer that this amenity is tide and rain dependent. 4. Linens are not included. Not mentioned in the listing at all! Michelle, the owner was kind enough to let us use extra linens from the garage but that required doing laundry upon arrival. I know that many rentals in the area do not provide linens, but that fact is always clear in the listing. 5. The towels that were provided were old and musty smelling. I suggest you rent or bring your own linens and towels. 6. General cleanliness of the home was good except for the kitchen. Old cabinets with lots of dishes, pots and pans, but not sure how thoroughly these things were cleaned. Ended up rewashing everything prior to use, especially pots and pans. 7. This home can sleep 7 but there isn't sufficient indoor or outdoor seating for 7. It's really most comfortable for 4-5, in my opinion ( ie TV room & patio). FYI- Master and room with twin beds is on the top floor with a large bath and beautiful view. Third bedroom is in the basement with a half bath. The second full bath is on the first floor next to the kitchen. So, the people sleeping in the basement need to come upstairs to shower.
cozy, welcoming, great location for views and bird
A wonderful sacntuary near Audobon land for nature lovers and the best views from bedroom windows anywhere. Plenty of deck and patio space and a kind and responsive owner made for the perfect place to perch and relax. Near convenieinces yet away from the crowds.
We rented the house for 4 weeks (mid Sept-Oct,2012) and found the property to be more than we had hoped for. The sunset views over the salt marsh were stunning. It was great to be able to paddle to the bay at high tide right from the bottom of the deck stairs. The house was clean and everything worked as expected (TV, music, appliances, etc) Location was very convenient to restaurants and supplies. We spent many days hiking Natn'l seashore trails, biking, beaching. Michelle was very pleasant to meet and to deal with throughout the rental. Hope to get to rejuvinate at the house again sometime!
What a wonderful house and so beautiful this time of year. Great views of Sunken Meadow marsh. So peaceful and relaxing. We'll definitely come back here.
The landlords are very helpful. If you're arriving at night, make sure to get directions from Michelle beforehand - it's easy to get to once you know where you're going!
A wonderful setting overlooking the Audobon Sanctuary and to Cape Cod Bay beyond, with kayaking to the bay right in the creek off the back porch. Every sunset a new treat. The house had a lovely character and was charmingly appointed with all the amenties we look for after 20 years of renting experience. With two teenage girls and the occasional teenage friend staying for a day or two, the house had to allow flexible entertaining. There are so many different and pretty places to sit, including upper and lower decks, the spatious back yard and even a "secret" overlook beyond the garden.
Owners were very responsive to all questions and concerns and made sure everything was as it should be. Perfect location for getting to any of the National Seashore or bay beaches, with easy access to Orleans, Brewster, Wellfleet and Truro. Bike trail a quick ride away. One of the best places we've stayed and will definitely be #1 on our list for our next Cape vacation.

We are so glad to share this house with others as it is truly a special place. I grew up on the southshore and summered on the Cape.
