Charming and spacious 2-story cottage located at 40 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor (you can google map the location and select, "street view" for a view of the neighborhood. The cottage is located up the hill behind the gray house). Just a 5-minute leisurely stroll to the harbor, restaurants, and shops, the cottage has high ceilings and a comfortable bed. There are 2 Adirondack chairs in front of the house with an amazing view of historic Oak Street. There is also a small patio area with a bistro table and grill. There is only 1 parking space.
The home was very close to downtown and we were able to easily walk to everything we wanted to do in town. Would definitely consider staying here again
Wonderful stay! So appreciated the easy walk to Boothbay Harbor and all its amenities. Comfortable, quiet, well-equipped, and great location for all I wanted to do. Very grateful!
Convenient location and pleasant neighborhood. Inside rooms were attractive, clean, and comfortable. A little cleanup right around the front door would have been nice, as would have been a few extra amenities inside -- bath soap, exhaust fan in the bathroom, a night light, tissues....but we made it work. Good stay!
First the good. The location to the downtown is convenient. If you have mobility issues, take note, it is mostly uphill. The bedroom and kitchen is beautifully refinished. Shower water flow is great. Prime was included. However, It smells musty, the kitchen floor was not clean. No air conditioning (it was hot upstairs in the bedroom even with windows open, ceiling fan on and there were big clumps of dust blowing from the floor fan). There were 2 of us/2nights and we only had 2 bath towels layed out (I dug around and found a couple more) and only one hand towel. It could use some living room updates.
We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights here and while the location was great (you could walk to the harbor and downtown), the interior could use some TLC. The front screen door was missing its closer causing the door to swing wide open every time. A fresh coat of paint would brighten up the place, too, as the stairways to the 2nd floor seemed to be haphazardly painted, sometimes with flat paint, sometimes with semi gloss.I felt like we were throwing someone else out from their apartment for I found someoneâs underwear in the chest of drawers (see pix). The shower needs to be attended to as the hinges had seen better days. The tile framing was worn and crumbling.Iâm sorry that I didnât take a picture of the stained pillowcases that were on the bed, but since we brought our own pillows, we ignored them.Other than that the place was fine.
Private two story apartment a block from the harbor.
We had fabulous 4 days in Boothbay , visiting beautiful Penaquid , Southport Island, boat cruise, morning coffee near the water, and delicious food at Waves. Fun to look in different shops too. Bed was comfortable, nice readinbathroom was clean but right in bedroom with curtain but no door. That was a negative.
Driveway was very steep for climbing and awkward parking space for unloading which was a challenge for 70 yr olds. Good kitchen area and sunny living room. Rivate and semi detached.
House was a short walk to Boothbay Harbor. Owners were great on communication with us prior to check in. House condition was good. It is need in need of a paint job and a few repairs. The price for a 2 night stay was great. Only issue for me was that bathroom has no door and located upstairs in bedroom. It only had a light weight curtain. So when my spouse or myself had to use it during the night turning the light on in the bathroom woke up the other person. So bring a nightlight to plug in to navigate an unfamiliar setting and not wake your partner. But location was worth the lack of bathroom door and we would stay there again!
This was a nice spot to stay, right in town. Could walk easily to restaurants and shops. The property was comfortable and well equipped and the hosts were easy to contact.
Fantastic location, convenient, and roomy 1-BR house. Quick walk to down town, where you will find shops and restaurants. Adorable waterfront to walk around down town. Full-service Hannafordâs supermarket just before you get to the house. Was visiting the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, so this was very convenient.
Lovely house. Nicely kept. Lots of drawer space to put your stuff. Comfy couch and good tv. Kitchen is nice and clean. Altogether we very much enjoyed our stay. Best thing was the location. Right in town with just a short walk to the harbor, the footbridge, many, many good to great restaurants. We were there for a very (very) hot week but I'm sure most of the year it would be perfect and David left us a good fan to augment the ceiling fans so we were fine.
Great locationâwalking distance to everything in town and yet a very quiet neighborhood. Spacious and very comfortable for my husband and I. There was an initial issue with cleaning service, but owners resolved it and we enjoyed our stay.
Property was very clean and location was excellent.Short on some amenities and communication with owner was difficult because of the vrbo process, however once we were able to get through the owner he was very responsive. The process-logistics need improvement and again I believe that this is more s vrbo issue than the owner.
Quaint little home located close to town. Perfect for me and my sister to enjoy a long awaited vacation. The bed was so comfortable. House was very clean and located in a great spot. Owners were very responsive to many emails and provided great local restaurant and activities to attend.
