The quiet and cozy Captainâs Cottage is an homage to the unique history of Ballard, where a large population of Scandinavians worked in the boat building industry at the turn of the 20th century. Inside showcases many treasures from the Captainâs seafaring travels. The house is situated on a corner lot with a front and back yard, where one can sit under the shade of fruit trees or take a walk to explore the neighborhood full of great restaurants, cafes and breweries with outdoor seating.
Clean, well supplied, great location. Very cute nautical decor.Yard/garden was full of weeds and dead flower heads. Too bad because it was a beautiful, sunny weekend, but the garden/yard was not inviting at all, House was great, yard so much.
This was a lovely place to rest and decompress, yet close to bus lines that took me right into downtown. I canât think of anything that was missing. Do stay here; youâll like it.
My stay in this nautically themed cottage couldnât have been nicer! It is a sweet older home that has been charmingly decorated and outfitted with all the modern conveniences. I highly recommend this cute VRBO.
The Captain's Cottage was perfect for our mother-daughter visit to Seattle. We loved being in a quiet neighborhood with easy parking and in/out access. The house is tiny but had every amenity we could have hoped for.
A fun little retreat in Ballard, close to shops and restaurants. Quite neighborhood, clean and convenient. Renee is great with making you feel welcome. Iâll definitely stay again, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your amazingly cute little cottage with us. We've loved staying there! It's cozy, warm and very welcoming. You've provided all the things that make it homely and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to escape to Ballard. If I am asked to come back this way for work, I will be reaching out to you to see if there is any availability.
This cottage was perfect for a solo staycation! The decor was so wonderfully curated, and the house had everything I needed to be nice and cozy for a few days. Loved sitting in the garden, and there are so many great restaurants and amenities in walking distance. Renee checked in with me halfway through, and when I mentioned that I was sad that it had rained and I couldn't enjoy the garden as much as I'd planned, she popped by right away to bring over fresh dry cushions for the garden chairs!
My husband, toddler and I stayed in this cute cottage for 3 nights while visiting the Seattle area. Very cute and quaint cottage! It was just the perfect size for the three of us and the house itself had so much character. Truly a historic home in an adorable neighborhood. We had quick access to everything we wanted to see and enjoyed every moment of our stay. There were even raspberry bushes in back of the home growing fresh raspberries on them! We would recommend any couples or small families stay here. We had a nice time!
This was our second stay at the Captains Cottage at Christmas time. small house, but warm and inviting. In the Woodland neighborhood within walking distance of Ballard central amenities and the brewery district (and our grandson!). Only a few blocks to the express bus stop to get down
Town Seattle. I would bet itâs every bit as great in the summer when you can hangout in the front yard and watch the world go by! The hosts were very accommodating and kept a tidy and unique property.
We stayed for 5 days in this whimsically themed Captain's Cottage that was thoughtfully furnished with everything we needed, including air conditioning. Despite its compact size, the house felt remarkably spacious for just my husband and I, with wonderful light and every comfort we needed. Renee was a wonderful host, responding quickly to every message. The location, in a quiet residential neighborhood, was convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, and transportation. We recommend to others and would happily stay here again.
The property itself is small but quaint and had everything we needed. Renee was excellent at communicating. The washing machine and dryer was a pleasant surprise. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The property was close to all the places we wanted to go to. I would recommend staying in this property for couples. We would definitely come back.
A step back in time as the property has an historical feel so appropriate for Ballard. Definitely a charmer with gracious hosts. Loved the fresh flowers and seltzer water in the frig. Private little back garden made morning coffee even better
Main problem was stepping over a high tub to get into shower although there was a sturdy grab handle it could really be a problem with someone of limited agility. The remainder of the bathroom was tiney. We layed out our toilet items in the kitchen which had ample space. Also a downstep was needed to get to the bathroom which calls for care especially at night.
Old established Seattle neighborhood with easy access to buses to everywhere and walking distance to all the great stuff in Ballard. Not a roomy cottage, but it certainly more than works and in summer with the yard, would be fantastic. The hosts were great and I would definately stay here again
Captainâs cottage was perfect for my week in Seattle. Such a quiet neighborhood but an easy walk to everything I needed like local restaurants and grocery stores and to downtown Ballard, Nordic museum and the Locks. I would love to stay here again, maybe in warmer weather so I could sit outside. I also loved all the Captainâs art in the house. Thank you for sharing this cottage!
The Captain's Cottage is an homage to a bygone era and the local history of Ballard. With the Captain as my muse, I enjoyed curating the space with a subtle vintage nautical theme.
With a high walk and transit score and a unique history, this quiet location in central Ballard is the perfect place from which to visit Seattle, the nearby mountain ranges and explore the Salish Sea.
