The Space:
Forget beige vacation rentals. This home was designed to celebrate color, creativity, and Savannah's artistic spirit.
As you enter, you'll be greeted by our signature painted staircase—a colorful introduction to a home that feels more like a private gallery than a traditional vacation rental. Historic details remain throughout, including original hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, stained glass accents, decorative fireplaces, and beautiful natural light.
The spacious living room serves as the heart of the home, featuring bold custom wall treatments, colorful furnishings, original architectural details, and plenty of space to gather after a day exploring the city.
The oversized bedroom offers a luxurious king bed framed by historic furnishings and vibrant artwork, creating a space that feels both elegant and playful. The updated bathroom features a large walk-in shower, bright accents, and in-unit laundry.
The fully equipped kitchen combines modern convenience with historic charm and includes everything needed to prepare breakfast before a day in the Historic District or a late-night snack after dinner downtown.
Whether you're here for a romantic getaway, girls' trip, anniversary, or simply want a stay that's a little more memorable than the ordinary, this colorful Savannah retreat delivers a truly unique experience.
Guest Access:
You have access to the entire apartment including the relaxing balcony right off the living room, overlooking McDonough St.
The Neighborhood:
Although we know you’ll love your time in the apartment, the neighborhood around McDonough Place is even better. Referred to as the Hostess City of the South, Savannah provides you with an incredible experience rooted in its colonial past and full of southern charm. Although the apartment is situated on a quiet side street, you are just minutes away from the incredible amenities and attractions Savannah has to offer. The apartment is right down the street from Colonial Park Cemetery (a fantastic stop on the ghost tours), one block from Crawford square, perfect for quiet morning strolls. You will be just an 18-minute walk from Forsyth Park and the Savannah Waterfront featuring amazing southern dining experiences. Grab lunch or a highly reviewed brunch at Collins Quarter at Forsyth. Stop in for a fantastic lunch or dinner with trendy cocktails at The Public Kitchen & Bar. Want a fine dining experience surrounded by history? Stop by 17hundred90 Inn and Restaurant for upscale food and live piano. Looking for a pint? Hop over to Six Pence Pub for drinks in the British-inspired tavern. Continue to explore Savannah’s history by stopping in the Webb Military Museum, Telfair Museums, or the Beach Institute African American Culture Center. Want to take it all in at once while riding or biking? We are just minutes away from Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah and Savannah Bike Tours.
Staying for longer and needing groceries? Find Lowcountry Gourmet Foods, Savannah Bee Company, and Kroger foods all within .6 miles from the apartment.
Getting around is easy with walkable streets, bike rentals, and uber service. Try out the Savannah Belles Ferries, jumping on at the Waving Girl Landing just .5 miles away. Just minutes to the Truman Parkway and only 20 minutes to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport you’ll have no problems getting to and from McDonough Place.
Getting Around:
Though you can walk to almost everything, there are multiple options to get around the City. There is a FREE hop-on/hop-off trolley/shuttle bus that picks you up just a couple of blocks away. This runs all through the historic with multiple stops by attractions. The City also recently added The Downtowner, which is essentially a FREE uber-style ride share that you can use daily from 5pm-5am. Aside from that, Uber/Lyft is always a good option to quickly get where you need to go. Though we do not have off-street parking, there is almost always plenty of metered street parking right in front of the house. Easy to pay through the Park Savannah app with your smart phone or just physically swipe your card.
