It was a very clean cozy cabin. Its in a nice quiet neighborhood on the water. the neighbors were friendly. They have a firepit and kayaks tonuse. It was over all a great play to stay
The cabin is beautiful, cozy, clean, peaceful and appears as it does in the photos. The kitchen and bathrooms were organized. Being close to Gettysburg was convenient! The only reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars is because we had a few small issues while we were there. We noticed wasps were getting into the house from somewhere. During our 4 night stay we found a total of 7 wasps in the upstairs bedrooms that we had to kill. Two in the master and five in the other bedroom. That was not fun!We were excited to go fishing. We knew the dock is small, but did not expect to find a clump of poison ivy growing onto the dock, making the small size even more challenging since we had to be careful where we stood.. Fishing from the creek bank was nearly impossible since the vegetation was overgrown. After a few tries, we gave up on that because we did not want our hooks and lines to keep getting tangled in the brush.Having a weber grill right out on the deck was convenient, but the handwritten instructions said we weren't allowed to use the propane grill without using foil, which kind of defeats the purpose of grilling, in my opinion. The last thing that was a slight disappointed was having to put the sheets on the beds ourselves. If I am going to pay a decent amount of money to stay somewhere (equivalent to 4 star hotel prices), I would expect the beds to be made when we arrive.Brenda is very nice and very responsive.. Overall, we did enjoy our stay! Thank you
Location was great and the cabin was beautiful! There were some dirty dishes left in the cupboard (presumably from previous guests), and the downstairs toilet hadnât been cleaned. The kayaks were dirty and in disarray, and the hose didnât work so we couldnât even hose them down ourselves to use them. However, the scenic location and comfortable coziness of the cabin more than made up for these shortfalls.
Cons: The reason I dropped a star, it said 3 bedrooms. The downstairs "bedroom" was a pullout sofa in one of the living spaces-the one with the TV. This was also the entrance to the deck. There wasn't a dresser for our clothes. I don't consider it a bedroom. This wasn't a deal breaker. We made it work but I think people should be aware. We had 7 people. To eat we had to sit at 2 tables in adjoining rooms ( a table in each room) . Again, not ideal but we made it work.Very minor, the beds were not made. This is the first-time I've had to make my bed when I arrived at a VRBO.Pros:Clean, and i am picky. No complaints on cleanliness. Most of the cabin has been remodeled. Modern appliances including a small dishwasher. Located close to many historical locations. Quiet. Space between neighbors. Grocery and restaurants near-by. Communication with the hostess was great.Overall:I would stay there again and would recommend you give it a try.
The cabin was great and easily accessible to everywhere we were staying. My husband loved the build of the cabin and the view of the fireflies across the field was memorizing.
This was our second year staying at this property. It is lovely and feels like home. We hope to visit again one day. The area is lovely and central to a lot of activities. Highly recommend and the owner is a joy to deal with!
We stayed 4 night at this cozy cottage, my Partner and our 3 boys. 18, 13 and 13 with our husky mix dog Jynx. The house was quiet, our master bed was comfy. The boys said their room was tight, but nice. The creek had lots of fish and great views. Close to historical Gettysburg it was perfect for a quick family trip.
This was a great stay for visiting Gettysburg. We loved the country setting. We had fun fishing. Communication with the host was great. We loved the cottage.
Brenda's cabin on the river was the perfect place for us to get away from it all. It was a great home base for exploring Gettysburg, but also a beautiful peaceful getaway - we enjoyed ending our days with a glass of wine on the river-front deck, listening to the quiet and the birds. The cabin had all the modern conveniences to keep us perfectly comfortable, yet all the historic charm of an authentic log cabin. Many thanks to Brenda for being a fantastic hostess - she was very responsive and attended to every detail!
We had a blast fishing out back and Caledonia. The place was cozy and easy to find. The trash collection was confusing so maybe rewrite it on instruction page. I loved my king bed and the 2 kids loved the bunk beds.
Maybe closer to 4.5 stars rating. We stayed at this property for 4 nights. We spent most of our time at Gettysburg, which was only a 20 min. drive or so away. We also hiked at Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland which was also less than a half hour away. And we made a surprise stop at the Utz factory store 20 mins. away. So the location was good for our activities. The property is on a big creek/small river and we saw some ducks, but didn't catch any fish. It was too cold to really enjoy any of the outdoor amenities, Spring is a tricky time of year. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were surprised there were two full bathrooms as the house isn't that large, so that was nice. We were comfortable during our stay. Brenda was very available to answer a couple of questions we had.
The house was as advertised. Gettysburg was a short 25 minutes away for our several visits ( two tours of the battle fields and two ghost tours) we did some fishing and played a round of golf all very close to the property. Brenda was very friendly and responsive to our questions Thank you very much for allowing us to enjoy our visit. Would highly recommend if looking for a family friendly visit to the Gettysburg area.
The cabin is beautiful, with updated kitchen and baths that donât diminish its antique charm. We just loved the place. My husband had fun catching 7 fish in just 45 minutes. The host was always responsive. Nice getaway.
The cabin is beautiful and friendly, and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Unfortunately we happened to be there during Hurricane Deb so we didn't get to paddle the creek, but enjoyed our stay nonetheless. The owner is easy to communicate with and friendly. We were able to enjoy sightseeing in Gettysburg and then could come back to a relaxing , comfy home after.
My wife, teenaged step-son, his friend, and I stayed at the cabin for 3 nights. This is a very well kept building stocked with just about everything you need for and enjoyable trip. We were visiti Gettysburg (about 25 minutes away) and could not have found a better place to stay.
Great stay at cabin house. Clean and easy to get to. We did some kayaking which we all enjoyed. The water was stagnant for fishing because of the lack of rain. We all enjoyed sitting outside and making a fire. Dog loved the deck and rope tied on the deck made it easy to bring her in and out. Thank you to the owners.
Had a wonderful stay in Brendaâs cabin. We wanted for nothing. Close to all amenities and very peaceful. Gettysburg museum is close by and also went to Union Mills, Maryland for a Civil War reenactment. Would definitely recommend!
This was our second time staying at this property and it was exactly as we remembered. Brenda was so easy to communicate with and we look forward to our next trip.
