This cottage has been a part of the Edisto rental market for over 20 years and has been lovingly maintained by the same family throughout that time. Over the years, it has built a loyal following of repeat guests who enjoy the home’s unbeatable location, easy beach access, and beautiful views, as well as its affordability compared to other beach-view properties. We want to reassure travelers that previous reviews reflect genuine guest experiences and that the home is marketed honestly and priced fairly for its size and age. While it may not be the preference of every traveler, updates have been made in recent years including new windows, refreshed decking, and other cosmetic improvements. Following your stay, the storm door handle and overflow drain you noted were also addressed. To clarify, the corrosion you referenced is unfortunately common in coastal environments like Edisto, where salt and humidity naturally impact exterior and plumbing fixtures despite regular replacements. Similarly, the minor moisture damage you saw was largely due to an unusually wet August, during which Edisto received more than 20 inches of rain. The owners plan to address these areas during the upcoming off-season with new interior paneling and additional fixture updates. We were glad to connect with you directly after your stay and reach a resolution regarding your refund. We are pleased to report that since your stay the homeowners have replaced the microwave, and completed a number of improvements included hanging all new sheetrock inside of the home. We're sorry to hear that there were any surprises regarding what the house supplies for guest stays. We provide a list of what to bring in our reservation packet as well as in the reminder that is sent 7 days prior to arrival in hopes to avoid any inconveniences. Edisto Beach is probably one of the few destinations where linens and paper products aren't customarily provided with rental properties, but beginning on 6/1/22 all of the properties that we (Carolina One) manages on Edisto will have sheets and towels provided along with a small welcome bag with a few starter items (a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, etc.).
