We loved staying in Sunset Captiva. Great beach access, pool and shared amenities like grilling stations. This particular rental was good, not great. We were disappointed not to have any beach chairs, an umbrella or basic necessities like paper towels, Saran Wrap or sandwich baggies. Outdoor shower could use an update as well.
Overall, nice looking unit. You will need to bring your own towels or be prepared to wash all the time. If youâre coming in the winter, bring a couple blankets. There were 4 of us, and there were 6 towels total. Other than the comforter on the beds, we didnât see any blankets. Had to be a little âsluthyâ to find a few things, like the blow dryer. There was only one kitchen spatula and it was in a hidden tray in the dishwasher and had been for some time, So, it took some digging to find things.
Overall, nice looking unit. Good location within the complex. As always, George keeps the complex looking great and running smoothly! Sunset Captiva is a great place to stay.
When we arrived, all trash cans and recycling can were overflowing at this house. Property Mgt response was: "we'll see if we can get the trash pick up to come back for it." I didn't expect them to - the previous renters had just neglected to roll them to the end of street as instructed. But Property Mgt office never followed up or sent someone to collect any of the trash. We had to borrow from a neighbor who was gone (thanks to George the HOA on site manager) and put all the cans from both houses out Tuesday night and bring back Wednesday--as well as rinse out the disgusting dirty diaper smell in the cans at this house.
I was disappointed with how dirty the house was. Floors obviously are not mopped between guests... not even vacuumed well. Kept finding long black hairs (not from anyone in our group.) The outdoor areas desperately need power washing. The mildew smell under the house in storage / walkways / trash can area is horrendous. Screen porch is also very dirty. Can't fault the housekeeping staff who were only there one hour... I'm sure they did the best they can.
My husband organized the downstairs closet that holds beach chairs, etc. because things were just flung in there randomly. It's pretty obvious nobody who actually cares about the property has visited in a long time.
We left two days before our check out day and didn't feel like we were missing out... that's how much we liked this place.
