My husband and I have put our blood, sweat and tears into decorating, landscaping, and adding unique touches all our "Mad Men Vacation Rentals" properties: Mad Men Beach House in Ocean City, Maryland, Mad Men Magic Kingdom House in Kissimmee, Florida, and now Mad Men Lake House at Deep Creek Lake, in McHenry, Maryland. Carved in the quiet mountains of western Maryland, Deep Creek Lake is a unique, four-season destination. Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water in the state of Maryland, covering approximately 3,900 acres and having 69 miles of shoreline. The mountain climate, usually about 10 degrees cooler than the rest of Maryland, gives our area four distinct seasons with plenty of adventure and action for each. Summer days are filled with sunshine and shimmering water as boats, jet-skis and other water-goers glide across the waters. Deep Creek Lake is a fisherman's paradise, abundant with native and stocked fish, including large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, trout, yellow perch and sunfish. The current Maryland state records for bluegill, northern pike and yellow perch were all caught in Deep Creek Lake. Come winter, the higher elevated landscape is covered in a brilliant white blanket, providing amazing skiing conditions for Wisp Ski Resort. Winter anglers can ply their skill at ice fishing! This mountainous, wooded area boasts several of Maryland's most popular state parks which offer beautiful hiking and snow-shoeing trails, a large sandy beach for swimming on the lake, or gazing at the tallest free-falling waterfall in Maryland. We're also just upstream from the famous Youghiogheny River, well-known for mind-blowing white-water rafting trips.

Mad Men Lake House is located in the prestigious "Waterside at Wisp" resort community and the name says it all. Less than 2 miles down the road from the region's best skiing at Wisp Ski Resort, we're also a lake front property with all the advantages of waterside living. It's truly the best location in all of Deep Creek Lake for your vacation! Of course, there are an assortment of restaurants and bars only a few miles away for those time you want to venture out for a night on the town!

•Guests have full access to the home, deck, dock, hot tub, 2 kayaks, and one canoe. Swimming and fishing are permitted from our private dock - fishing license required. A 7-day fishing permit is available at - https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/dnrcompassportal. Bath towels and linens are provided. A starter kit for paper products and trash bags is also provided.


• Guest have full access of the parking pad for 6 cars maximum. Extra parking is available at the top of the driveway as long as it is 6 feet from the road for emergency vehicles. All Wheel Drive cars are necessary in the winter months and during any snow, ice or sleet weather. All Wheel Drive is recommended all year round but defiantly necessary in the winter months. A boat trailer is considered one vehicle in the 6 car max limit.

• Family-Friendly Amenities include a booster/highchair seat, pack-and-play, some toys, Bumbo, board games and puzzles.

• We provide a starter kit containing toiletries, soaps, paper products and trash bags. If you run out of anything, there are grocery and variety stores nearby.

•There is a flight of stairs to get down to the path to get down to the dock. The path has a moderate to steep incline. In our guidebook we give to all our guests there is a picture under the tab:"Walking down to the dock WARNING" .

•The driveway is steep and curvy. All Wheel Drive cars are necessary in the winter months.

•The dock goes in sometime between mid April to early May. It is different every year and we don't know when until its there! It is removed at the end of October. We do share the dock with our next door neighbor and their guests. Facing the lake they get the right side to dock their boat. We get the left side. There is space for two motorized vehicles for us and two for them. We also have our own ladder to get in and out of the lake on the right side.

•

• We also provide a gas grill at no extra charge for its use (unlike many places). We simply ask you to please leave it in decent condition to avoid a $50 cleaning fee. Thanks!

• There is absolutely NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES and NO PARTIES ALLOWED! If you want a party site, find another place! Immediate eviction with ** NO REFUND ** will result if there is a party on the property! Our property manager and neighbors WILL let us know if a party is happening and we WILL call the police!

• If you're new to vacationing at Deep Creek Lake, you're probably new to our wildlife! It's not unusual to see a bald eagle soaring overhead, a heron searching the shallows for fish, or a deer browsing through the woods. In the evenings, a rare treat is hearing the call of the loon on the lake! You may see a bear down by the shore, or hear the strange call of a fox at night. Squirrels are frequent visitors and an occasional groundhog, raccoon or opossum might be seen scuttling through the ferns.

• This is very important!! Because you're in the mountains, trash must be disposed of correctly to avoid attracting bears. ALL trash must be placed IN TRASH BAGS TIED TIGHT and put in the special bear-proof trash container at the top of the hill. NEVER leave trash outside! Bears have an incredible sense of smell and they will find it and make a colossal mess and then keep returning for more!

• Then there are the small wildlife that aren't so fun, namely mice and bugs. Mice are common in the mountains of course and sometimes make their way inside. Please let me know immediately if you spot any mice or their droppings in the house. Ants and house flies will be attracted if you don't dispose of your trash appropriately by putting all trash in bags, tying tightly and preventing trash overflow. The best way to keep them away is to not leave doors open or food out; sweep up after meals and wipe the counters clean!

• If you are interested in using the movie screen and projector during your stay, an agreement must be signed 24 hours prior to check in date.

•This is a 2,860 square foot home. If you are used to staying in 4 and 5,000 + square foot homes in Deep Creek, we just want you to have the right expectations when staying with us. We send. you the property video after your booking so you can get a better idea of the space and what we have to offer!

• I'm sorry, but early check in's and late check out's cannot be accommodated due to the pandemic. Our cleaners need their entire time to have the house adequately cleaned and sanitized for upcoming guests.

• Please read the complete set of rules to ensure you will have a safe, fun, pleasant and comfortable stay at our home!

• We offer a total of 4 smart TV's and one additional projector. There is a TV in master suite one and two. There is a TV in the game room and in the living room. The projector screen can be taken into any bedroom and projected on the wall which acts as a smart TV but it is not hooked to cable. So ONLY the two master suites have TV's. No other bedrooms have TV's.

• If you have a previous poor review, we reserve the right to decline your reservation or require a additional $500 upfront for the security deposit that will be returned to you after the cleaners have reported the house left in good condition.
