Welcome to the Sunset House in Grays Crossing! This architectural gem of a home is extraordinarily comfortable for a large group, located in a private setting, yet only minutes from downtown Truckee. This house was built for the Sunset Magazine "Idea House" 2008 annual edition (link to original article/photos here: https://www.sunset.com/home/idea-houses/tahoe-idea-house-gallery).

Your reservation will not be considered finalized until you sign the included rental contract, including the names and ages of all guests. After the rental contract is received, you will receive a welcome letter with key details to ensure house FAQ are answered in advance.
We rent our home sporadically, and have a 5 day minimum stay requirement (longer during some holidays) as we prefer to have families/ groups that can settle-in and enjoy this private, fully-furnished architectural gem for more than a weekend.
HOUSE OVERVIEW
Welcome to the Sunset House in Gray's Crossing! Setting is on the premier lot of the neighborhood at the end of a private cul-de-sac between the 9th and 18th holes of the Grays Crossing Golf Course. The home is a 200 yard walk to the local restaurant PJs and the Pro Shop (both opened seasonally May - October). The street is adjacent to a paved bike path (quick access to Truckee, Old Greenwood), and connected to over 13 miles of single-track trails this home has everything you need for the vacation of a lifetime! Whether you're relaxing and enjoying the nearly limitless summertime outdoor activities, or heading to our world class skiing / XC in the winter, this home has you covered!
This magnificent home is immaculately appointed with the highest quality finishes and furnishings. At 4250 square feet, this home offers 5 bedrooms (4 en-suite) plus a library with a futon, sleeping 14* comfortably; there is also a sun room with a floating day-bed. The open floor plan features a gourmet kitchen, large kitchen nook, dining area and spectacular great room with fireplace and vaulted ceiling w fan. The home has expansive views from the entire south-facing walls of windows, bathing the concrete and wood-beam finishes in natural light The main attraction though, is the 2000 square foot wrap-around patio with a huge firepit, outdoor seating and restaurant-quality pizza oven. On the west side of the home is a very private hot tub that can seat 8. The ultimate outdoor living experience!
*Please note, while there are beds for 14 guests, the max adult occupancy is 12 people (defined by Town of Truckee as anyone over 13 years old) plus 2 children. Exceptions may be made, upon approval, for additional children or adults (depending on details there may be an additional charge.) As discussed, you will need to specify the names and ages of all guests prior to arriving.

- Garage: 2 cars plus additional carport will fit longer vehicles.
- EV Charger available
- Driveway: parking for 2-3 cars depending on snow conditions. Snow clearing service included.

*The majority of the guests must be over the age of 25 years old. Separate rental contract must be executed prior to reservation being active.
*Please note that reservations can be canceled for a full refund within 30 days of arrival. Between 15-30 days, only 50% will be refunded, and no refunds will be granted within 14 days of the start of the rental.

This is not a traditional rental home. Finishes and amenities are much nicer than a typical rental. I only rent it a few weeks a year to cover operating expenses. The trade-off is that there are some personal items remaining in the house, including some food/condiments in the kitchen & pantry.
