Aloha and welcome to HONU HIDEAWAY at Hale Kona Kai #403. This is the absolute destination should you want a relaxing vacation getaway on the Kona coast. The location of this condo complex adds convenience as fun activities and amenities are within walking distance. The condo has central A/C, along with complimentary cable and WiFi, and is located on the 4th floor (top floor) with no one above you, but don't worry this complex has an elevator making for easy steps to your paradise. Hale Kona Kai has assigned covered parking, a heated salt-water swimming pool, and laundry machines on each floor.

If you haven’t yet experienced a Kona sunset in person, you’ll enjoy the front-row seat the lanai offers! Upon entry, you are welcomed with ocean breezes and truly remarkable views. The ocean comes alive with the dolphins and yellow tangs that frequent the area. The turtles (Honu) are definitely regular special guests, in addition to the seasonal whales. The picturesque view from both the lanai and bedroom creates a beautiful setting for great memories.

We pride ourselves on cleanliness and make sure that we pay attention to all the details. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Also, beach gear is available for your use. Hale Kona Kai is a non-smoking complex.

The unit was very well stocked for any need you may have. It is within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The view was amazing and the sunsets never disappointed. The host was most generous with their thoughtful gifts to celebrate our anniversary.

Superb!

Our hosts were pleasant and communicative. They obviously take ownship pride in their unit. Very well stocked kitchen, linnens and watersport gear. We have stayed in different units in this building many times. This is our favorite unit in the last 7 years!

Amazing location, views and home!

The location was perfect, we saw whales, turtles and fish right off the lanai. Property is very walkable to stores and restaurants. Pool area was clean and quiet. Home had everything you needed and best of all the Welcome Basket was amazing.

Great family vacation

This was our third time staying at Hale Kona kai and my first time in 403, this unit is an A+. The unit was very clean, well equipped with everything you need and nicely decorated. The location can't be beat, you are a quick walk to restaurants, bars and many stores. We really enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning on the lanai and then a cocktail at sunset. We truly enjoyed our stay.

The perfect condo in Kona

Everything about this condo was great. The lanai is right on the ocean with waves crashing below you. The location is a few minutes walk from some great restaurants (Hugo’s, on the rocks, Fosters Kitchen) but away from the busier and more touristy north end of town. There is a beautiful tennis center across the street where you can rent a court for 15. The kitchen is well stocked so we were able to cook a couple of meals, and the hosts left some delicious local goodies for us. We would definitely stay again whe we are back in Kona.

A Perfect Condo and Lanai

The condo provided an exceptional vacation. The environment created by the owners was in competition to the outstanding view of the ocean, waves crashing, breezes where no ac is needed, and the the enhanced peaceful surroundings. We come to the Big Island a few times a year and will plan ahead to be able to enjoy this perfect place.

Wonderful Condo

We really enjoyed this place. The views were amazing. Very clean and just as described. We loved the extra Hawaiian snacks they left for us too. The host was great at communicating with us when we were there. The elevator was out for a few hours, and they made sure to let us know right away.

Whale of a stay

My husband and I went to Kailua-Kona for a relaxing vacation in warm temps and we were not disappointed. The condo was exactly as it looked in the pictures, but the pictures didn’t show how well stocked the condo is. Our hosts have thought of everything anyone could need. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai while enjoying the daily whale shows and cocktails while we watched the gorgeous sunsets. Watching the fish in the waves and the dolphins playing was never ending amusement. We are already trying to figure out when we can return. The location to restaurants and shopping is great for people like us who prefer to get some walking in and not have to drive so much. Thank you Steven and Jenni for sharing paradise with us. We can not wait to return.

Perfect Honeymoon Hideaway

Aloha! From the moment we booked our Honeymoon, to the very sad day we departed, the entire process was so smooth. Steven and Jenni Lee are amazing hosts! Impressive communication and wonderful information about the area and any questions or issues we had, they were on it immediately. The condo, it was perfect for us! It is beautifully decorated, and has everything you could possibly need! The lanai, the view, the waves breaking right below you, absolutely breathtaking and stunning. We were very surprised and appreciative of the special and personalized touches by our hosts for our honeymoon. We had the pleasure of seeing dolphins, turtles and all kinds of fish from the lanai. Hands down, perfect honeymoon, in a perfect place, we will be returning! Mahalo!

Darling Oceanfront Condo

Very neat and clean - sumptuous large fruit basket upon arrival. The condo looks like it is right out of a decorator magazine, with turquoise (as shown in VRBO photos) throughout, including the toaster, utensils, plates, bowls, etc. More than a dozen pillows on the bed. The wooden looking wall in the living area is very nice. So, bottom line, the condo is as cute as it can be if you like turquoise. It was fine with me (single female) but two men from couples I joined for this trip found it too much. The shower suddenly stopped working one day; the owners were very attentive and had it fixed within hours.

Hideaway Paradise

After a very long day of travel, arriving to this unit that was even better than pictured on the listing was so wonderful. Steven and Jenni have added so many aesthetic touches to this unit that makes it so cozy and truly gives one the beachy vibe. There was not one thing we lacked (well the Central air for the whole condo building was out but they brought a portable one in until repairs are made and we were comfortable). It is very evident Steven and Jenni go above and beyond to ensure their guests have the best possible stay - from extra essentials one may need to a very generous and welcoming gift basket. We enjoyed coffee and brought most dinners in just to eat on the lanai to enjoy the view each day. Mahalo for opening this piece of paradise for our use - we made so many wonderful memories!

Excellent experience! The other reviews were very accurate. The Lees have done a great job creating a clean, welcoming, lovely oceanfront condo in Kona. There are extra amenities you cannot get at a resort like plenty of towels, beach equipment, great coffee, ice maker and puzzles and games. The lanai was one of favorite places to hang out during our trip. We felt safe and well taken care of. Thank you both!! We are already looking forward to coming back and staying again!
We saw this turtle immediately upon arriving, and saw many more during our stay.
There were hundreds of fish, especially tang, black trigger, parrot, and moorish idol, right from the balcony. Amazing!

It has everything you need and more. There was a bowl of Island fruits and wine on the counter when we arrived. The sound of the ocean and the reef fish below the lanai are unbeatable. We were able to walk to restaurants and a nearby snorkel beach. A cool place for 2 in a great location. The hosts, Steven Lee and Jenni, are the best. Mahalo!

One can not get any closer to the ocean. We could seedozens of yellow tang fish and turtles from the 4th floor balcony.The owners have tried to anticipate their guests every need. The coffee and fruit were greatly appreciated.Also, there was plenty of beach gear.The unit was spotless.We would return anytime!

Never wanted to leave

The property was beautiful. The decor was gorgeous and very fitting for the location. The special touches for our 40th anniversary was deeply appreciated. We enjoyed the chilled glasses with the Champaign while wearing our leis. The fresh fruit and treats were delicious, especially for our first night. The view was breath taking. We saw several turtles every day, along with a variety of so many fish! We loved every moment. Thank you!

This unit is not only in the heart of Kona Town, but also captures the beautiful oceanfront scenery that Kona is known for. Great eateries are within walking distance and you watch the marine life and popular water activities from the lanai.

I personally remolded this unit to ensure a beautiful visit upon entry. The attention to detail seamlessly flows from the front door all the way through to the Pacific Ocean horizon. Truly the best kind of "blues"!
