Welcome to Cregboy Cottage – An Irish Heart at Home in Maine

Cregboy Cottage is a small, story-filled retreat on Mount Desert Island — created from my journey from Ireland to the coast of Maine. Born and raised in Ireland, I found my chosen home here, and this cottage reflects that beautiful marriage between my Irish beginnings and Maine’s rugged Atlantic spirit.

Perfectly sized for couples or solo travelers, the cottage offers an intimate, comfortable space designed for connection and rest. It’s not a sprawling rental — it’s a thoughtfully curated home base where mornings begin slowly with coffee before heading out, and evenings end with tired legs, and a deep exhale.

You’re just minutes from the trails, carriage roads, and dramatic coastline of Acadia National Park. Spend the day hiking granite peaks, biking historic paths, kayaking quiet waters, or wandering nearby harbor towns — then return to a cozy space that feels entirely your own.

Inside you’ll find:
• A fully equipped kitchen for easy meals at home
• A comfortable living space to unwind after a full day outdoors

Cute house, neat, clean, comfy, on the "'quiet side" of the island. Great host!

We had a wonderful vacation on Desert Island. Acadia is beautiful and it was so nice to come back to this lovely house after a day of exploring.

Wonderful cottage on the Quiet Side

This lovely and well supplied cottage was the perfect home base for our Acadia adventures. Coming back to Cora’s thoughtfully curated cottage and helpful communications truly felt like coming home. We had a wonderful week exploring Acadia! And Cora is a consummate host! One of the best places we have stayed.

Cregboy Cottage

My husband and I had a wonderful week on Mt Desert Island. Cregboy Cottage was perfect and we loved staying on the quiet side of the island. The cottage is perfect and Cora is a thoughtful and helpful host. She has thought of every amenity for a comfortable stay. A remarkable cottage. A true treat!!

Cora’s is the perfect host and her place is perfect for active couples who want to enjoy Acadia National Park. The cottage has everything to make your stay comfortable. It is her home in the winter, therefore every item that you could need is there for your use. She even has some food there for you. We fell in love with the cottage, it’s location and, yes, Cora!

Cutest little cottage in the most beautiful place!

This sweet little cottage was perfect for our stay. Cora was an amazing host. She thought of everything from incidentals in the bathroom to all the cooking spices you would need in the kitchen. There is a warmth and comfort that was just perfect for our girls trip. Cora was so sweet and always available for questions. I highly recommend this stay on the quiet side of Acadia. Such a cozy spot.

Lovely cottage convenient to attractions.

Great cottage close to the attractions of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island harbors. It was not far enough to have some privacy as well. Sitting on the deck you can observe to local flora and fauna. Several bird species passed through as well as several deer. Temperatures were always comfortable. The cottage has a good layout and was well stocked with cookware as well as some local coffee and cheeses to have as a snack. We would stay again.

Acadia Visit

The cottage was incredible! Extremely clean and well maintained. Cora, the host, was extremely detail oriented in equipping the property with everything necessary to enhance your stay. Of particular note was the kitchen, very well stocked with modern appliances. The location of the cottage is also a plus, as it is away from the crowded side of Mount Desert Island. Even the parking was convenient, right outside the cottage. Cora is a kind, caring person, and is enthusiastic in making you feel welcome. My visit was very enjoyable!

Awesome Cottage

The property was adorable-it was extremely clean, comfortable and had anything plus more you would expect from a rental. It was a perfect place to stay for exploring Acadia NP and the surrounding areas. The host was very accommodating and was very quick to respond with any questions or concerns.

This will be my third year hosting, and I have come to LOVE making people feel welcome and cared for, and AT HOME in Cregboy Cottage. I look forward to meeting YOU and helping you fall in love with the "Quiet Side" of MDI.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Cregboy Cottage is located on the Quiet Side of the Island, and has SO much to offer. Acadia National Park is literally my backyard.....I can walk from my home to hike, swim and enjoy the best of what Mother Nature has to offer. My favorite spot is the Algerine Coast located just 3 miles from the cottage. A beautiful place to sit and feel the power/healing of the ocean.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The cottage was originally built in 1896 (ish), but has gone through many renovations. It was the original "tiny house" in its day!! I have tried to make use of the space and add some of my own personality. Cregboy Cottage has a comforting and very healing vibe....this I really found out while recovering from my cancer treatment. I always felt like I could breathe again once I walked through its door.
