Great little place close to river. For sure short walking distance. Awesome outside deck/patio. Older home but definitely a great stay. Would stay again
This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Although we were off season it was still very exciting and adventurous at the moment we drove onto the property. I can only imagine how cool this place is during the summer months.
Thanks Daniel! So glad you enjoyed your stay & appreciate the grace on a last-minute booking! We typically don't book next-day because our crew is in Uvalde, & need about 48 hrs to travel, launder & prep, but we also try to accommodate guests needing lodging in a pinch, whenever we can.
We look forward to hosting yall again! đ»
FILTHY, FILTHY, FILTHY!!!! Great location but camping would have been better. Refrigerator did work, was replaced with one that stunk. Stairs are unsafe and loose. Turning on the kitchen light made the bedroom light strobe. Outlets not working. NO WIFI. DVD didn't work. No cable or satellite. TV size of a monitor. No water pressure in kitchen.

NEEDS TO BE UPDATED
Tho the cabin was clean, it is terribly outdated. The front porch looks as if it is about to fall off. The yard hadn't been mowed in forever. The steps around the side of the house are dangerous! The access to the water is not as we were told. We made the best of it and the host was very kind, but i was so disappointed. A few upgrades and new porch and yard work would help tremendously.
We had a few troubles. Sink stopping up no lights working on fans and those were the only lights in the room . Trash around the yard. Water was cold we kept having to reset the water heater and the coffee maker didnât work. This home needs work if they plan on renting it to others. Iâm dissatisfied with what I paid for what we got if I could have gotten a refund I would have chosen somewhere else.
When we werenât at the river, we spent our time on the deck playing games, guitar, and grilling. The cabin hosts a plethora of birds. We saw painted buntings, red birds (not cardinals), yellow finches and more. Regarding the cabin itself, my son slept on a twin and said, âit was the best sleep he has ever had.â The window units keep the cabin cool and the fans help as well. The rock stairs are also a super creative addition. My kids preferred to use them. The cabin was clean and cozy.
The location is awesome. We visited several nearby establishments, like Joe Jimmys, Nealâs Diner and Hippie Chicks. We saw deer, danced, ate sâmores, swam, painted rocks, and just over all, had the best time.
The cabin owner is also amazing, kind, and very resourceful.
Thanks for the nice compliments Shoshona!! Sounds like ya'll were quite busy having lots of fun! It's especially nice to hear you enjoyed the art supplies for painting rocks & some of the unique features of the original Concan homes, built in the '50s, like the handmade stone garden steps. Come stay with us again sometime! ~Amanda đ»
There was trash in the yard. The deck was in need of repair. There were loose steps and the railing around the deck was unstable. The house was cluttered and not clean. The beds were very uncomfortable and there were no sheets on the bed but, were in a cabinet. Water from the shower head shot up on the bathroom wall and the cold water dripped. One of my guests was bitten twice by a brown recluse and we also killed a scorpion inside the house.
This house is the perfect distance from the river. Not so close that we had to worry about little kids, but close enough to walk in just a few minutes. The river is clean, cool, and so refreshing. Even those who did not want to swim enjoyed putting their feet in the river.
My family came into Concan for our annual summer river trip. We had the pleasure of staying at the Sunflower. Amanda was very easy to get in touch with and the relaxing on the porch after a long river day was perfect. Iâd definitely come back and recommend staying at this property.
The sunflower was in a great location & is centrally located where it is close to every attraction. The house was clean & spacious enough for our 7 guest.
The owner was extremely easy to communicate with and was beyond helpful with info on all the local amenities and attractions. She kept me posted on the water level of the river and any details on the house.
My husband and 4 children stayed for 3 nights. It was a cozy home with a great location. The owner is very sweet and even sent us lots of info on local places.
id arrive excited but soon after entering cabin, was not very clean and small amount of kitchen tools as a cookie sheet or pan. We washed each dish we used as there was dirt. Towels provided had not been washed and were new. Used the towels and dye ran all over the tub.
Wish there had been more warning of assists to water. We went to private property or we had to pay $50 to park and a per person fee to get a pool nearby.
Most other activities were all booked and we could not go. Deck was so dirty. We had to clean chairs and table hadnât been cleaned in along time. I will not be using the facility again.
Unfortunately, the house didn't meet our expectations for the money spent. The house had 2 window units, which weren't on when we arrived in 98° weather. Which made for an unpleasant first evening. The refrigerator also wasn't turned down so we couldnt even put dairy in it for the first 24hrs. The bath tub had a leaky faucet with stains around the drain. There were dishes in the strainer that looked to be washed, but in our opinion should have been put away. Our impression was that the home wasn't prepped properly for new Guests. The grounds around the home had litter, random water hoses on the deck & an old pair of shoes. The 3rd day, we had tickets to see a Country concert at the local watering hole & when we plugged in the hairdryer, the breaker tripped which caused the AC to go out. We had to call the owner to locate the breaker. The window unit in the bedroom was plugged into an extension cord & the outlet was right above ear level next to the bed, wich we felt was not safe. We also observed only 1 smoke detector, which was over the front door. Overall, although the location was good, we would not recommend this house. Its old, not updated and was not comfortable for our family. When i voiced our multiple concerns to the owner, she suggested i leave a good review first & then she would request a "discount" from VRBO. We elected to maintain our integrity & leave an honest review.
Overall a good thumbs up for it all, location, price, size
Had great communication with Amanda, everything was accounted for and she was very helpful with activities around and at the property we've gone once a year for about 8+ years and have stayed at a few places and we couldn't have asked for a better overall first time stay at this one
Loved the easy Frio River access, only a short distance to walk!! Short drive to the stores and they have just about anything you need, including water shoes. Garner state park was awesome for hiking and more swimming in the Frio River! Tubing was fun as well as the bats at the Frio Bat Flight Tours!! Nealâs have the best home cooked food and ate there a couple times. The house was on a quite road with sightings of deer. We painted some river rocks, which was a great suggestion from our host. She replies quickly to whatever questions you may have! Overall best experience and vacation, canât wait to go back!!
