This was our second time visiting! Our dog loved running around the fenced yard and we enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and coffee on the screened in porch. Looking forward to our next visit!
"It's a Dog's Life" was truly a pleasure to stay at! So comfy and so cute! Our dog, Sadie, had a blast in the totally fenced backyard. Visiting nearby Cherry Beach was wonderful, and our favorite place to have breakfast or lunch was at Viola in Three Oaks. Absolutely recommend for a relaxing vacation. The owner, Pam, was absolutely lovely to work with and very helpful!
We visit the area from Chicago every summer and really loved this place. Quiet, comfortable, had everything we needed and pup friendly. Would definitely stay again!
Our adult children and their dog loved our stay here. The back yard was great for the dog and a fire. We loved the back porch! Lots of amenities. Southwest Michigan is the best!
This place is perfect for pets! It has lots of outdoor seating so everyone could sit outside. We especially enjoyed the large fire pit where we roasted marshmallows.
Showers are a bit small.
Beautiful, clean, pleasant outdoor ambiance, has everything one needs for a stay as a guest.
We love Pamâs houseâŠ3rd stay, amd definitely plan to return.
We brought our puppy for our 9 year anniversary trip here & it was great! Definitely interested in coming back, we didnât even need to leave to go do things we had such a good time staying in and the house was very equipped which was another plus!
We stayed in the early spring and had a bit of snow and chilly temps but we were able to use the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit to warm up. Love the yard and the house. Highly recommend this place!!
I honestly can NOT say enough good things. Host was communicative and very sweet. This was the first time taking our dogs with us and it went great! Will definitely recommend for anyone with pups!
My family, my dog Gus, and I had a great weekend! Between the fireplace, bonfire pit, and nearby walking trails there were plenty of leisurely activities to partake in during our stay. We are look forward to returning in the future.
This is the perfect cottage for a long weekend getaway. Plenty of outdoor space, huge fire pit with all the fire wood you could need, grill, decks and porches.... And a few minutes drive to a private beach. Only an hour and a half away from Chicago but feels like another world.
Our family stayed with 2 dogs. Dogs had the best time in the yard (and so did we). Unfortunately we got rained out the first 3 days so it was a big plus having the screened in porch.
Great location between New Buffalo and all the neighboring towns further north. Easy drive to many restaurants, breweries, wineries, casino, parks and the beach.
Charming Cottage with great outdoor entertaining space
Quick weekend trip to Michigan before our kids go back to school. A Dog Life Cottage did not disappoint. Open floor plan, great outdoor space that is fenced in for pups. Great getaway spot year-round. The only thing missing was our Doodle, we will bring him with us next time.
This house was perfect for my family of 6 plus a dog. House is in great shape in a private location just a short drive from beaches and dowtown New Buffalo. The house is very dog friendly with a large fenced in back yard. The backyard is fun to hang out at. The host was easy to work with. We will definitely be back in the future.
What a wonderful home and owner. The home is exactly as described - super cozy and well appointed. We live in the city and giving our dog the room to run freely in the big back yard while grilling and drinking coffee or wine was so relaxing ! The house is near downtown Three Oaks, which is charming. Great service from the owner. Highly recommend and we look forward to staying there again !
Brought the family and two dogs and couldnt have been happier. Just a beautiful home and the best backyard for dogs ive ever seen. House had everything we needed. We plan on returning soon!
My friends and I were looking for the perfect place to spend a long weekend and we definitely found it here. There was plenty of space for us and the home had everything we needed to make our home away from home feel seamless. The location is a short drive away from nightlife and other restaurants and shops, while also being quiet and cozy. We will definitely be booking this home again and will be bringing our dogs with us next time!!!
Two couples and our dogs came for a long weekend - we had a fabulous time! The kitchen was well-stocked with equipment, and the yard and fire pit were amazing. Our dogs were in heaven. The fence is secure and complete, but it is low enough to jump so beware if you have a runner.
FYI. Tried to replace 2 of the backyard lights but didnât have the right bulbs. Made it hard to see the dogs out back when it got dark. Other than that, we loved the home and would come back.
I live in downtown Chicago and I love the energy and everything the city has to offer; however, I live for the moment I can escape to Harbor Country in Southwest Michigan. Within an hour and a half I'm here...all the stress of everyday life melts away and I feel on 'vacation' even when I'm here less than 24 hours. I also experience great joy in sharing my home with family and friends. And now that I'm renting my home, I feel the same happiness as my guests report in and recount how much they enjoyed the home, the nearby beaches and the country setting. I feel very lucky to be the owner of 'It's a Dog's Life Getaway'.
I purchased this home because of it's easy access from the highway, yet you feel completely removed and isolated. I also wanted a home that was set back from the road, had a large yard for my dogs, offering them freedom in a secure environment. I love the open floor plan with high ceilings, yet feels cozy and warm. I also always wanted to 'rock' on a front porch and have a screened in porch...I never tire of relaxing in these areas with a magazine, cup of coffee and dogs under foot.
Although I seek the feeling of being 'remote' while here, I love that within minutes you can be at the beach, satisfy a 'purchase' urge at one of the many boutique style shops, and find a good meal at a small restaurant for breakfast. lunch and dinner. I don't feel the area is 'touristy' or commercial, even though most people here are enjoying a vacation. A recent surprise was how fun the wineries are to visit...especially on bikes. The area is enjoyable each season and by no means is just 'a summer home'.
