Idyllic, luxurious, country home, located minutes from the newly minted New River Gorge National River & Park. Very close to popular trails such as Long Point and Kaymoor Trails as well as Cunard River Access. After your action packed-day of white water rafting, hiking, zip-lining, mountain biking, etc, sink into the comfortable oversized couch or soak in the hot tub to relax your mind and body. Then cook yourself a meal in our fully equipped kitchen or do some grilling on the outdoor BBQ. As the stars come out start a roaring fire in the fire pit for making smores while telling ghost stories. Then, finally, retire in our super comfortable beds in order to get re-energized for another adventurous day!
Location was great, house layout was perfect for what we needed. Fire pit was used both nights of our stay. The only minor issue was the shower upstairs did not drain well. Once that is taken care of five stars and would book a return stay.
Beautiful Property. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Location was perfect for enjoying New River Gorge Park and surrounding area. We enjoyed the fire pit and made sâmores. We put puzzles together and relaxed in the hot tub after hiking. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. Would definitely stay here again.
6 adults got together after not seeing each other for a few years, nice house. Plenty of room decent location for activities around new river gorge. No issues enjoyed our stay
Property was good. House was overall good. There were problems controlling the air conditioning, especially on the 2nd floor. Need a waste basket in the master bathroom on the 1st floor. Need flat sheets on the beds in the den. Bottom rack in the dishwasher needs to be replaced.
My family and I were coming from many different parts of the country to celebrate my motherâs 75th birthday and we really enjoyed our stay. We had most of our meals around a large round table that was large enough to accommodate all of us, the kitchen was large and stocked fairly well. We had enough space to spread out, but were comfortable gathering as well. We enjoyed the hot tub, the lovely back yard and the area is close enough to find adventure and dining. The only issue we had was with the electronic door lock. Because of our own business, Iâm familiar with literally 100âs of electronic locks and Iâve never seen one like this. I wonât go into how needlessly complicated the process was, but I had to put an app on my phone to access it, no one else in my party wanted to, so we were frequently locked out. Getting something out of our car or taking the trash out was a pain. The owner was very responsive and tried to be helpful, but for the next renterâs sake, I hope he finds a new door lock. Beyond that, I would definitely recommend this place and stay there again if I had the opportunity.
Property fit our family very well. Property manager was great at communicating and taking action when needed. Home is beautiful and sits on four secluded acres.
Master bedroom is huge and so is the bath. Fantastic shower. Den made into bedroom was perfect for our two grandkids.
We had a great stay at this property. Easy to get to, close to hiking, rafting, and the little town of Fayetteville. Near perfect spot for our group of 6 adults and 3 kids. The bedrooms and bathrooms were adequate for our group and the house had little pluses like games, puzzles, firepit with firewood, starter, and matches, sâmores kit, and a ping pong table in the garage. A few minor annoyances like the neighborâs dog barking at 5am and warmer upstairs bedrooms, but overall these werenât enough to really impact our trip. Great base for adventures at New River Gorge NP.
The house was super clean and decorated for the fall holidays. Our age range was 80âs to 3 year old. All of us enjoyed each day. The kitchen was very well stocked and plenty of food space. We cooked, visited, used hot tub, ping pong, watched football and totally enjoyed our visit. All our company just loved it. Thanks so much.
This is a lovely property, great for a family or friends trip to the area. The property is well furnished, comfortable beds & bedding, and the outdoor space is fantastic. The communication with our host was timely & accurate, even with a tardy check-in (due to previous guests) and a power outage at check-in.
Our only caution is the community is very rural and the house uses a septic system. There is a very strong odor in a few areas of the property, specifically the shared bathroom on the main floor. We were able to minimize the smell by keeping the door shut, but you will likely notice it the minute you walk in. It is the ONLY reason we did not give our overall experience 5 starts.
We would return without hesitation.
House had an excellent location for us, equidistant to Fayetteville and Oak Hill and close enough to all the hikes that New River Gorge offered. The backyard was perfect and felt private. The hot tub was enjoyed each night.
Our group consisted of 6 adults and 2 kids. There was plenty of room for all of us. The property was very clean with the hot tub and fire pit a big hit in the evenings. You do have neighbors however landscaping, trees, and fencing all make the place feel private. Definitely recommend.
We came to the house for a birthday and family get together. We did a lot of our own cooking and thought the kitchen was beautifully equipped. The spaces in the house as well as the furniture and the beds were lovely and comfortable. The house was extremely clean. We loved the backyard and front yard and our toddler grandchildren had a great time running and playing there. The house gave us a great location from which we could explore New River Gorge. We only wish we had had more time to enjoy all that the property had to offer. Weâd gladly return!
This lovely home was exactly as advertised. The home is a comfortable and spacious place to relax and to enjoy family meals while visiting the National park. (The large kitchen is well-equipped with pots, pans, dishes, a crock pot and skillet.) We were just a few minutesâ drive to everything we did while in the area, such as whitewater rafting, ziplining, hiking, and touring small towns. The home provides plenty of space and seating for socializing indoors and out. One of our favorite moments at the home was watching a spectacular firefly show in the wooded back yard. All the beds were comfortable and provided a good nightâs sleep for our party of 7 adults. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had upon arrival. When we visit the area again, weâll be sure to see if this fabulous home is available. (Full discloser: the neighborâs dog barked a bit, so bringing a sound machine for light sleepers helped.)
We had a truly wonderful experience! After multiple days of driving and hotels, this was exactly what we needed. The place was clean, welcoming and went above and beyond. The games, sâmores and easy internet made everyone happy. We would 100% stay here again!! Excellent communication with host, as wel!
We checked in on 5/22/23. We did have a few maintenance issues upon arrival, however, the owner was easily reached and eager to resolve our concerns. We enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and relaxing in the hot tub (remove your sterling silver jewelry or it will turn green and require cleaning). We found the property was centrally located so we could visit attractions all around the area. I would definitely highly recommend this property.
We had a great time at Almost Haven. It was the nice quiet retreat, yet still close to beautiful trails, charming Fayetteville, and the National park. We loved being able to make a fire and using the hot tub! Weâll be back!
Took a road trip from Minnesota and Wisconsin with three generations. Reasonably priced great location and room for everyone. It takes the vacation to the next level having a full kitchen, hot tup, fire pit and room for everyone to have their own space. Host(s)
