Everything was perfect. Clean. Close to trails. Near New River Gorge National Park. Wildlife on property was amazing. We even had a bear show up! I would stay at this property again.
Wonderful place. Beautiful setting. Hosts are best communicators. If you have a large family and are going White Water rafting on the New River - this is the place for you. Highest recommendation.
The Ramsey Mountain Lodge is in the perfect location to quickly get to all the outdoor activities Fayetteville and Ace Adeventure Park has to offer! The house was clean and cozy.
We had a wonderful time at the stone lodge, and were really impressed with how many things there are to do in Fayetteville. Thank you to Sally and Bill for making this property available for visitors!
This is the second time Iâve stayed at one of Bills propertyâs. This time we stayed at Bills Ramsey Mountain Lodge which is next door to Sugar Creek Chalet. We appreciate the close location to rafting and Fayetteville as well as the kindness, communication of Bill. The house is very clean and fit our needs for a two night stay.
Great location to visit New River Gorge National Park!
Lovely grounds, property and location. Beautiful porch.
The listing says that it sleeps up to 14, but I would say that not if 14 adults. There were 10 of us and the bunk beds for 4 normal size adults would be quite uncomfortable. However, it would probably be great for kids
Everything was as expected. We couldn't get the TV to work right but that was okay. The internet was on the very slow side but that is no fault of the post. The main portion of the grill would not light with the igniter and there were some hot spots but still did its job properly. The Horseshoes and fire pit were a big hit. The HVAC system worked really well and kept the house nice and cool even as it was well over 90° when we stayed. The location was ideal for the Cantrell rafting trip along with the horseback riding and zip lining.
This was more than we expected. The photos in the web site can't do enough justice for this great home in a great location. Our group of 12 with Grand Parents all the way to 5yr old had a blast. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are in mint condition and well equipped. The lawn and woods surrounding the house provide enough privacy and room for group activities. Gas Grill and Fire Pit added the extra touch for a great evening hang out for the large group.
Lots of fruit bearing trees, strawberry shrubs, fire flies in the night - Kids have only seen them in Disney Movies :)
House is very close to grocery, fast food, local restaurants and all the activities in the area.
A hot tub / swimming pool will make this the hot property in the town.
The owners were very helpful from the time I first contacted them (even before booking) until the day we left.
Defn recommend the place for families.
I must say the Ramsey stone lodge has everything you need in a VRBO rental . Having used VRBO here in the U.S. and abroad multiple times this property is as I said perfect . One of things that was impressive about the home was the many cooking utensils that were available including multiple cookie sheets. The house was very clean which I think everyone appreciates in a rental. Nice towels in bathrooms , bedding even the bunk beds were comfortable. Having a bathroom and shower downstairs was super convenient for the five guys that stayed down there . Bunk beds and queen futon are downstairs.
When it rained briefly we shifted gears from cornhole to playing pool in the basement, nice table and just a great setup!!!!
I would be remiss if I didnât mention how kind and helpful Bill & Sally were to help make our trip one for the memories!!!
The lodge is so perfectly located if you want to go rafting or zip lining there are two of the bigger outfitters just a short drive away!!! We used Adventureâs on the Gorge and I must say they were EXCELLENT!! ( 4.5 drive away) .
Bill & Sally A BIG THANK YOU to both of you for allowing us the privilege to stay in your beautiful lodge. We so look forward to returning one day to do some more exploring of this absolutely stunning part of West Virginia.
Super close to all the local activities you could do in town or around the Fayetteville and New River Gorge area. My group of friends had ample space and felt secluded at the house while still being close to all mentioned above. Iâm so thankful for the best weekend with some of my best friends from near and far in the state Iâm proud to call home!
We stayed at this house with a group of 10 friends. The house was perfect with so many beds. We enjoyed having a large private yard for corn hole and horseshoes. The firepit is a great addition to the yard, and it seats many people. Most of our time was spent outdoors, but having the pool table was nice too. The house was very clean, and there were plenty of linens. I would recommend this property to anyone and would stay here again myself.
Absolutely beautiful property located minutes from all New River Gorge has to offer. The kitchen appliances were pristine and worked well. The beds and bedding was comfortable. There was plenty of hot water. We didnât try the grill or the fire pit, but both appeared nice. Plenty of room in the yard to play cornhole. Easy to communicate with the property manager, who was readily responsive. I would happily stay again.
Ramsey Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to stay in the New River Gorge! Situated on a quiet road amidst the woods, it's private and secluded, but close to everything. Fayetteville is minutes away, and the New River Gorge Bridge is not much further. The house is clean, roomy and well-appointed. A great place to relax after a busy day of exploring in the Gorge or Babcock State Park. We loved the pool table!
Bill and Sally Wells are the owners of the property and live nearby. Sally grew up on the property. Bill is a native of Upper St. Clair, PA and moved to WV in 1981 where he worked as a mining engineer. After living in several different states, we moved back to Fayetteville in 2012.
Sally's father built the house in 1955. We both love the outdoors and have vacationed here for many years. We were fortunate to be able to purchase the property for a weekend getaway in 2007. In August, we moved into a newly built home on the property. During construction of the new house, the original house was completely remodeled as a vacation rental.
The property contains 25 mostly wooded acres that are shared by the Ramsey Mountain Lodge, the Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo #563229) and our residence. The house is secluded but is a short 20 minute walk into downtown Fayetteville where there are many unique restaurants, shops and pubs. The stonework on the house was completed by skilled Italian stone masons whose work can be seen throughout Fayetteville. The house has a roomy interior with hardwood and tile floors, stone fireplaces with gas logs, granite counter tops, hardwood paneling and many other features. A pool table is located in the finished basement and a stone fire pit and horseshoe court are in the yard. The house is located on the edge of the plateau and the view from the front porch is of the valley below and the adjacent mountains. The house is an excellent location for mountain biking or hiking. The National Park trail heads are only a few miles away. Larger groups of up to 29 can be accommodated by renting both the Ramsey Mountain Lodge and Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo 563229).
