We are truly sorry that you did not seem to enjoy your stay. Our offer to "make things right" was a sincere attempt to demonstrate that you are a valued guest and was offered immediately as a direct reply to your concerns. Respectfully, while we care the utmost about our guests', and value all feedback, it's very difficult to respond to this review as much of what was stated was unsubstantiated. You texted your concerns to us at 8:30PM on the evening before your departure. We immediately offered to do whatever we could to make things right in response to your text. When we heard nothing back, we followed up by going to the cottage with our plumber to address your concerns the very next morning. We do not have a septic system (as all of Wells has town sewer), and there was no smell and no issue for the plumber to address (inside or out). We also had the plumber inspect the washer while he was onsite. Again, he stated it was in perfect working order. All of this was done as quickly as possible. We take a great deal of pride in both the Driftwood Cottage property, and in the way that we communicate with our guests. This attention to detail is reflected by the fact that 100% of all of our other 17 reviews are five star reviews (many of which specifically describe the extreme cleanliness of Driftwood Cottage).
