Weâve stayed at Ericâs property before. As always, it was clean warm and a most comfortable spot. The property itself is tucked away on a back road, which is wonderful for having young kids with us at the end of the night Itâs nice and quiet. I had the pleasure this year of meeting Eric personally and it didnât surprise me of his demeanor wonderful guy excellent personality and I look forward to staying at his property in the future as well. I highly recommend this property.
The host, Eric, was easy to deal with and very responsive. Overall, the cottage was cute and equipped with everything you would need, and the outside shower was a plus! The only thing that I didn't love was that you had to keep emptying the humidifier.
The property owner was very responsive to our messages and was prompt. House was as described and a short walk to the beach and short sands downtown. We did get rained out but we made the most of the stay.
The Wish You Well cottage is exactly what you'd expect when you think of a quaint cottage 1/2 mile from the beach. Super cute! Being a beach cottage, there is a mildew smell that's hard to get rid of, but the host has candles throughout the home that ease that. The beds could use mattress pads, and having to buy our own sheets and towels was an inconvenience, but it is well disclosed ahead of time. The backyard could use some trimming so we didn't spend much time down there, but the patio off the house was lovely! The host, Eric, is very responsive & was great to work with. Overall I was pleased with our stay.
There was an overwhelming smell from damp, mildew, and mold throughut the cottage. I guess it would be ok if you aren't allergic... like I am.
It was worst in the main bedroom. The owner was aware of the issue as there were damp rid products that had been in place for some time throughout the cottage (they were full and the one hanging on the hot water heater in the bathroom was moldy). We purchased additional damp rid to try to make it livable but ultimately cut our vacation short and left two days early due to illness from allergic reaction to the mold/mildew.
The owner has been alerted to the issues we experienced.
It was fine. It was hard to get into vacation mode between emptying the dehumidifier at least once a day and having to outfit six beds with sheets. It was disappointing to find that not all beds had mattress pads and it was very challenging to put sheets on the beds on the top bunks. Also, the quilts that they placed on the sofas in the living room, which were not pictured looked like they hadn't been washed in at least a few stays. On a positive note, the kitchen sink area was very nice and we made the best our time there. As we left and swept the house, I uncovered several unsightly items from the previous renters (clump of hair, old hair elastics, bobby pins) under beds. If it had been cleaner our stay would have been improved. There were many ants in the home, which the owner helped us with, but just in general it felt like we were house sitting instead of vacationing, which for the price, totals in a 3.5 star rating.
Loved the ease of getting into town. The place is very cute, and it seems like the property owner has remedied the mustiness in the cabin that other guests have mentioned, though we did steer clear of the closets, as well as the sunroom out back which was pretty musty- likely more so due to the insanely hot and humid weather. As some have mentioned, the beds are a bit rough. I think investing in new mattresses is a good move to keep people returning. If I were in my early 20âs I wouldnât blink an eye, but we are in our mid to late 30âs and our backs arenât tip top after that trip.
We had a great week at Wish You Well Cottage. It's about a 7 minute walk to Long Sands Beach - the proximity is a huge plus! Yes, the road it is located on is busy, but not like a freeway or anything - just daytime traffic, quiet at night. Safe to walk on, plus its a super quick walk to the cut through street. The outdoor seating area/grill area is large, and the marble countertop next to the grill was a great prep area! The outdoor shower is always a plus, and the "night light" was a pleasant surprise for evening showers. Living room is cozy and comfortable. We did not use the back enclosed patio that much, but I can see how it would be a nice area to hang out in. The back yard area could stand to have some trimming done to make it a bit more accessible/inviting. Eric gives quick replies to any questions, anyone who rents knows that it is a huge plus and feeling of comfort!
We rented this home to spend some time at long sands beach. The beds were very comfortable and the living space is nice and open. We had a great time and would go back!
The whole family enjoyed our stay! The outdoor shower and outdoor space in general was amazing after a long day at the beach. While it was on a busy road, it allowed for an easy walk to both Long Sands and Short Sands. Plus, my toddler loves watching cars, so it kept him entertained while at the house. Weâd come again!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Great location and the description matches the reality. Good location and I found out on the second to last day the fastest way to get to Long Sands- a delightful surprise!
We found this last minute thankfully. Eric was very accommodating and even though itâs on a main road, we had short walks to both beaches which was great,
