Prepare for a secluded retreat, where quiet is part of the bargain! This home was once owned by a Swiss German yodeler, who found that their yodel could echo up to five times due to the area's quietness. That's the kind of quiet you can expect! Take the adjacent, unpaved path, and head out for some lake fun, only 500 steps away.

There's plenty to do in this cabin-inspired home with a limited view of the lake and a beautiful view of the forest (especially from the living room's wall of windows). Enjoy a game of air hockey or oversized Connect Four in the game room. Stoke up a fire outside in the private firepit and spend a great time outdoors. If you're leaning toward cooking inside, the full kitchen boasts a dishwasher, a wine fridge, a French door refrigerator, a breakfast bar, and a double oven to help feed everyone on your crew. After dinner, enjoy a DVD from the library or stream from your favorite service. Central air-conditioning will keep everyone comfortable inside, and there's room for everyone around the electric fireplace at this home. Pontoon rentals are available at Prince Boat Dock (nine miles), Fontana Village Resort Marina (14 miles), and Almond Boat Dock (14 miles).

Amazing property nestled in the mountains near Fontana

2 gorgeous master bedrooms, amazing Jacuzzi tub in one. Plenty of room upstairs as well. It's close to the lake and the access is a short 10 min walk. Things are a bit steep, the driveway and steps to the lake (they are a short walk down the street)

This house is definitely secluded if you are looking for a quiet getaway. It was great for cooking and watching tv on our rainy day. The driveway is VERY steep ( 4WD/AWD a must)! To say it has lake access is a big stretch. The path and dock that are pictured are way at the end of the gravel road, nowhere near the house. The dock is falling apart and sinking, and the path down is overgrown. Bring groceries, it's a loonngg way to the store!!

5 Echos stay

This home is nice and comfortable for a quiet getaway, rainy day, or if you are really into hiking! You need a 4WD minimum to get up the very steep double driveway. Also, the dock pictured is at the very end of the gravel road, not near the house. It is also falling apart and sinking, and the path to get to it is very overgrown. We took pictures, but are unable to post here.

Nice place but beware of the last mile

This property was large enough that our multigenerational group of 8 had plenty of room to spread out when needed. Our group loved the fire pit as well as the air hockey table. The walk to the dock is fairly long and does include lots of steps, which we didn’t realize when we brought our kayaks. We ended up driving to a launch site which was way easier. What we didn’t realize was the last mile to get to the house is a single lane gravel road, full of twists and turns and ending with a very steep driveway. A low sitting car would have some trouble, make sure you are in an SUV or a higher sitting car.

5 Echoes

Be prepared for a one lane curvey gravel road for the last mile to get to this house. The house itself is AWESOME - plenty of room for everyone, well stocked with needed items. However, the cleaning service could have done a little bit better job, but nothing that we could not take care of. (Cleaning back deck and bath tub). We would stay in this home again!

House is great; lake access does not exist.

The house is great, though quite remote on a windy, dirt road so keep that in mind. It was extremely clean, spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped with dishware and cookware. While we were not performing remote work, we did use the internet a lot and it worked great so no issues there. The big issue was the purported lake access which was the main criteria in renting this house as my husband and my nephew love to fish. We searched for it for two days and repeatedly asked for explicit directions. Finally on the afternoon before we left we received a map which was not helpful either. I happened to run across another homeowner as I was searching yet one more time the evening before we departed and he said he had allowed access across his property in the past. However, there was a closed gate in place and the area down to the lake was very overgrown and there is absolutely NO SIGNAGE indicating lake access to Five Echoes guests. If lake access is important to you, this is not the right place. If a clean, comfortable home in a beautiful location is what you want, this is a good choice .

Five echos

Booked this for a family vacation to polar Express in Bryson City NC. This cabin was the cherry on the sundae for our trip. The views are breathtaking and pictures online do not do it justice. Made beautiful memories and will definitely book again!

College graduation trip to the smokies

This home was amazing! Everything about the home is beautiful !! There was even Pendleton bedding in the master bedroom. Getting to it was a little tricky after dark but worth it once we arrived. I hope to visit here again!!

Mountain home

The cabin is gorgeous and perfect for a large family or group. We had 8. Clean and well kept. The only downside is there is not a lot of easy access outdoor areas. So it really depends on what your vacation goals are!

It was a beautiful place everything exactly except one thing There was no excess to the water like the picture indicated. And of course it rained most of our stay there which is not your fault of course.

very nice airy place. easily accommodates eight people and an infant. wifi was good but cable did not work for us. Was able to sign into netflix. some fans did not work and a/c was hard to control. it was colder than we wanted but we were still comfortable. Minor safety issue with the deck.

Great house for family gathering.

I loved that it was so big with plenty of room to spread out. It was clean on the inside and the kitchen was very well stocked to cook any meal. It was close to Nantahala Outdoor Center where we went rafting, and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest where we hiked. The WIFI was fantastic the whole time we were there. My cousin had to work one day and had no problems with the connection or speed. The only thing I was bummed about is that there is absolutely no lake access whatsoever, or if there is, we couldn't find it and there were no instructions in the house how to find it. Also, we spent lots of time out on the deck and it was really dirty. Maybe wash the chairs, knock down all the spider webs and sweep the deck. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Spacious and Secluded

This house was beautiful! So spacious, clean and well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. My kids had a great time in the game room and enjoyed the bunk bed room. As others have said, the drive to the house is a bit nerve wracking so we avoided going out at night. The deck and firepit area was nice, but all the lighters were left outside in the rain and the firewood was wet so starting a fire was difficult. The kitchen has everything you need, but shopping is ~30 minutes away and the roads were under construction. Wifi was terrible..worked in the mornings thrn tapered off and there’s no cell service. Great for an unplugged trip, not great for trying to plan/research any part of your trip. Overall good house for a quick trip away.

Horrible experience

If you don’t need assistance, then you might be fine at this location but if you find yourself having to contact the property management, they are not going to do anything to help you. We were staying over Christmas weekend and the power went out at 4 AM the morning after we arrived in 4° weather with two elderly family members. And they absolutely refused to have a manager contact me, or do anything whatsoever to help us and they continue to be rude and difficult throughout the process of trying to figure out what I paid for versus what we got.

Friend and family and I booked this cabin months prior and under the listing they said they had wifi which was very important as I magage a home improvement company and had to work during the stay remotely. Once we arrived we saw a note dated for July 2nd 4 days before our arrival that said sorry for the inconvenience but the wifi is out do to a router issue. My issue is they had 4 days to notify me so I could make arrangements for a different place so I could accomplish my work. I lost 2 full days of work. There was zero service at cabin so in order to report the issue I needed to drive 20 minutes to get service and even then could not get the problem resolved. This also made planning very difficult. I have asked more then once for a partial refund due to lost work and inconvenience and haven't gotten a single response and its been 2 weeks so now Im writing this.

Birthday lake trip

My friends and I really enjoyed having our joint birthday lake trip at your cabin this year. The house was huge, full of amenities and close to all the outdoor things we had planned. Would definitely stay again!

Breath Taking View

#1 views wer beautiful we were all amzed. The house is beautiful space for all 7 of our guest. The wifi worked perfectly for everyone teens were happy, we all had a good time. The home had everything in the kitchen bedrooms we felt right at hime. We left with good memories and will definitely return.
