Surrounded by Redwoods with Ocean View & beach access
"New Property recently listed with new furniture, bedding, most appliances, and newly renovated" An Anchor Bay hide-a-way in Redwoods setting with views of the Pacific Ocean and access to the beach. This 2-storeyed house can accommodate 6 adults/4 children or 8 adults. More people/small pets on request and extra charge. The cozy home offers Ocean views from the upper and lower decks and Redwoods/Creek view from the side deck. You would love the serene, peaceful environment and fresh, crisp air.
The house overall was nice. But I have a problem with people not stating that you're going to have to jump through 2 million hoops just to check out up front. We got there and they wanted us to not only check out at 10:00 a.m. which is before any normal hotel but they also wanted us to strip all the beds and do all this other stuff and I that really bothered me. I did not do the sheep part because you just didn't have time.
Myself and my 2 daughters aged 18 & 13 stayed at the property. There was everything you could every need. The house is very easy to find.just what we all needed a break from the world. Hope to see you again in the future.
easy to find
Thank you very much, we loved our time here! This listing is exactly as pictured and as described. Great neighborhood, beautiful views, spacious home. House was clean with ample towels, soaps and clean bedding provided. Host was very kind and helpful. We will definitely bookmark this one!âĄ
Great location(you can see the rocks in the ocean from the dining table, and Gualala is very unique that it is lest cloudy or foggy for at least 20 miles around), great house(the master bedroom and its view of the redwood trees are heaven!, gracious host(responsive and great local knowledge), we all had a blast!
First, the positives. The location of this home is wonderful â nested in huge redwoods where the sound of the wind could be heard throughout our stay. The upper deck provided a great perch for up to 4 people to sit and observe an ocean view. The upstairs master bedroom was very comfortable other than the bathroom shower leaks and no hot water). Unfortunately when downstairs we were hit with a strong odor of musty mildew. The two downstairs rooms were not pleasant and our stay seemed to coincide with recent repair work to one of the bathrooms where we believe there were/are water leaks. This left us with a very strong smell of mildew which didnât go away even with windows and doors open. The host said the shower was recently repaired - maybe the root of the odor issue? The repairs were not successful as there was standing water downstairs with water on the ceiling and walls after a shower upstairs and the water didnât get warm enough to shower. I would also recommend an update to a few key items including coffee maker (took 30 minutes to brew a pot), toaster (half of slots didnât work) and towels which were very old. I just feel it is important to share as these types of accommodations arenât inexpensive and believe that the home owner has an opportunity to quickly resolve before the next guests experience the same.
A comfortable arrangement for our small family holiday reunion. Special thanks to host Donna for electronic set-up help! We especially enjoyed dinner at St. Orreâs and the elephant seal on the beach!
This Anchor Bay house was nicely appointed, very clean & well located near Sea Ranch, Gualala & Point Arena. Itâs nestled among redwood trees & has an ocean view from the deck. Enjoyed nearby restaurants & markets in both Anchor Bay & Gualala. Only negative was no good lighting for reading in the living room.
It was just my dear wife and myself for 3 nights; in hindsight WAY too much room for the 2 of us. Everything was fine except the grill. I asked specifically if it had propane but on the 2nd night it ran out.....disappointing, but not killer; hence only 4 stars. And I want my flask back, which I foolishly left on the coffee table. ;)
Already being familiar with the area, having spent most of my summers in Gualala/Anchor Bay, it was more than just a nostalgic return to show my kids where their dad learned to dive, spearfish, surf, etc. This house was itself a vital part of our enjoyment.
My wife said âIâd go back to that house every month if I could.â
The nearby Anchor Bay beach is just about quarter mile down a little trail to the nearby campground. Itâs a great beach, lots of fun at low tide. Waist high waves most of the time and because of the gentle slope of the beach and itâs semi-crescent shape with Rocky natural barriers, Iâve never seen any sort of rip current, nor any creeper waves of significant size.
The house is comfortable, with the tops floor having a big open floor plan with wide French doors leading to the master suite with its own balcony that looks into the redwoods. The other two balconies both face the coast, and thereâs a partial ocean view.
Good place for a family, especially with teenagers, since the other two bedrooms are in the bottom floor.
Iâd recommend bringing your own kitchen utensils if you enjoy cooking. The cooking utensils are fragile and I was afraid to use them out of concern for breaking and bending them. However, the dinner and drinkware were more than sufficient for the 4 of us.
The TV in the main bedroom suite is really nice, and all the streaming networks are available.
Overall, nice basic lodging. Perfect for a family like ours.
The property was great and the location is awesome. Short walk to a private beach. Our biggest complaint was the over bearing property manager named Donna. We paid for the stay and the agreement said check out was 11am. In the chat we were sent a letter prior to our arrival with a bunch of information and we later came to the realization that the checkout in the letter said 10 am. When we came to the property we got settled in and while outside the neighbor told us âDonnaâ the property manager had come by and wanted to talk to us. My wife contacted her in the chat to see what she needed and she said she wanted to welcome us and see if we needed anything. We told her no and she informed us she would come see us the next morning. We informed her that we didnât need her to come and we were okay. She still came at 9am the next day asking us how our stay was going and asked if we needed anything. This felt overbearing but not too bad or out of the ordinary. Then the last day of our stay we were packing up and cleaning up the house when we heard a knock on the door at 10:15 am. When my wife answered the door, Donna stated ârunning a little behind are we.â My wife replied âno, check out is at 11amâ. Donna informed her that it was now 10am and then she walked into the home. She started moving things and grabbed our personal belongings and started putting them in our car. It was extremely intrusive, uncomfortable and illegal. When we attempted to talk to her about it she just told us checkout was 10am and would not listen to us or acknowledge the fact my wife showed her our agreement was 11am. If you want to stay at a place where there is a crazy overbearing property manager, this is the place for you.
We very much enjoyed the location, -- easy to find, quiet neighborhood. We appreciated the row of businesses at the foot of the hill. The house was well stocked and comfortable, though there were a number of giant ants sharing our space with us.
Donna stopped to welcome us when we arrived and returned all communications in a timely manner.
The House was awesome, just as advertised. Short walk to the beach, and short drive to several other beaches. The town of Gualala was nearby and had everything we required!
House sits in a redwood forest with a partial ocean view. Perfect place for a small group of friends to get away for a few days, walking distance to a private beach. Weâve enjoined our stay and our two little dogs were happy too.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Very well supplied with kitchen and linens. Only issue we had was the barbeque. Needs cleaning or removal. It is full of grease which has run over to patio deck. When we lit it, the barbeque caught on fire and ruined $50 worth of salmon and scorched my husband's hand. Very scary. Would recommend cleaning or removing before it causes a bigger fire. The last two nights downstairs invaded by Nats and everyone had to move upstairs.
What a great place to stay with teens! There were only four of us, so the kids were able to have their own room. We loved sitting on the balcony while having coffee, chatting or reading and enjoying the view of the ocean. Getting to the beach was an easy hike down a short trail across the road, and a fun spot to see starfish at low tide in the rocks that are usually covered by the tide. The property manager, Donna, was very kind and helpful, and check-in and check-out was very easy. If you like to play games, you may consider bringing your own, as some of the games provided were missing pieces. All in all it was a lovely place that worked great for our family.
