We're approximately 200' from our private swimming pool, so instead of hearing kiddie noises, the only sound you hear is the constant surf and tropical breezes passing through the palm trees.

'The Kai' is famous for its golf-green landscaping, stunning Haleakala sunrises, quiet vibe and the perfect central location to every island amenity. First timers in Hawaii

This property is perfect! It has everything you need, including boogie boards, snorkel gear, chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and anything else you can probably think of! It's clean, comfortable, and a great location! The nearby beaches are not busy at all! I will recommend to anyone visiting Maui to stay here!

This property has a terrific and has been recently had a total remodel. Very comfortable and clean.

I would stay here again without hesitation. Location is terrific. Only a 3 min walk to Starbucks and only 100 feet to the ocean from your door.

A fabulous Christmas vacation

The condo was in a great location and perfectly decorated. John was very responsive with questions and helped me plan a fun little Christmas surprise for my family. We liked being on the ground floor so we could walk in and out of our condo to sit and relax on the chairs right outside or walk along the wall to watch the sea turtles. We also saw whales right from the condo! It was an easy walk to several restaurants and to the beach. We absolutely loved our time in Maui.

Winter Vacation

My husband and I stayed and our two teen daughters, escaping to Maui from the cold of Minnesota. We absolutely loved the central location to explore Maui!John and Trisha are excellent hosts. The condo was immaculate and had all the extras from beach chairs to reef-safe sunblock to a well-stocked kitchen. We so so appreciated the communication and suggestion of activities from John. They had a wonderful welcome gift waiting for us of coffee and chocolates!We hope to be guests in the future. I highly recommend staying at this condo!!!

Great Stay!

The condo was exactly as pictured-beautiful, very clean and great kitchen with all items one might need. Everything in the place was top notch! A fun perk was being able to walk out the sliding glass doors and off the lanai to the waterfront and see some sea turtles. John was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with- would definitely come back again.

Good time

Good property, nice unit with everything we needed for cooking. Turtles swimming in front of the property are amazing. Only feedback: pool has very little shade and this part of the island can be quite windy. Easy to get to other parts of the island, very centrally located.

Beautiful condo and peaceful in every way

Immaculate condo and streamlined everything! The building and property are well maintained and so peaceful. The interior of the condo is super clean and tastefully decorated. It’s a serene environment all the way around. Sunrises with the turtles, easily 25 turtles a day floating just off the rocks getting their morning feed from the rocks. The pool is lovely, and the location is fantastic. We can’t wait until we can do a return trip! Beds are comfortable and the kitchen fully stocked, and the outdoor gas grills are a short thirty paces from back patio door. We really appreciated the WiFi and the ease of getting checked in and out. This was our best VRBO experience we have ever had. Simply fantastic!

What a view! Amazing condo! Immaculate & clean!

We truly enjoyed our stay Maalaea! John and Trish were amazing hosts! The condo had everything we needed and more. It was so nice to be able to grab a beach chair and a cooler, supplied by the hosts, and take a stroll down the road to the beach. The view was nothing short of fabulous! We loved waking up to seeing Haleakalā and all the fascinating sea turtles. We have never seen so many sea turtles before. The pool was also great, so easy to get to and could always get spot. We actually had the pool to ourselves several times. If we are so lucky to come back, we would stay here for sure! Mahalo!

Amazing stay!

This property was amazing. Very quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina and Kihei but still close to great restaurants, shopping, and beaches. We enjoyed every morning out on the lanai having coffee and breakfast. We saw more turtles just outside the condo than we did on our snorkeling tour to turtle town. The condo was very clean and spacious for our family of four. Completely updated and renovated. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were very pleased and will return for another stay.

Perfect stay

When we were trying to decide where to stay on the island, quietness was on the top of the list. This location was perfect! It was central to everywhere on the island with a therapeutic vibe. The condo is perfectly decorated and we had everything we needed. Upon arrival we saw fresh bouquet of flowers, Hawaiian chocolate and treats, and a bag of native coffee! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Thank you!

Do we really have to leave?

Perfect accommodations in Paradise. Super clean, comfortable, with all the necessities and lots of extras. Being on the ground floor with the ocean in your backyard is amazing. It was so nice to have breakfast out on the lanai or just pop out to look at the turtles and breathe in the fresh Island air. The condos location was great for exploring the island and John provided us with an excellent list of restaurants, beaches and adventures. The only negative thing was having to leave when our vacation was over. This is definitely a place I’d recommend to any of my friends visiting Maui in the future.

If you want peace and quiet with a perfect view from the lanai away from the business of Lahaina this is your spot. The best part is, it is not far from Lahaina, the airport and other points of interest. John has done a wonderful job with this fully stocked condo. John was amazing through the entire process. Fantastic Property

We enjoyed a wonderful 10 day stay with our two university-aged children in February. Highlights: -Ma'alaea is centrally located for exploring Maui. A much quieter and more relaxing area than many tourist zones. -Unit is perfectly situated with stunning views and direct ground floor access out onto the lawn and waterfront - absolutely ideal. -We enjoyed great views of whales and sea turtles right out front every day. -Very tastefully decorated with some lovely original Maui art. -Unit is well equipped with complete kitchen, beach-going supplies, snorkelling kits, boogie boards, etc... -Excellent communications with host from start to finish. -We highly recommend this VRBO.

A Gem in Maalaea

We’re hesitant to speak so highly of this place for fear that others catch on! We’ve stayed in Maalaea a handful of times in the past, but none of the properties compare! Clean, fresh, well-appointed, and comfortable. A great coffee setup, a solidly stocked kitchen, and some convenient tech help make this a perfect home base for exploring all the Maui offers, or simply sitting oceanside, watching the turtles in the lazy glow of sunset. We’ll most certainly stay again!

We loved everything about our stay here. Perfect location in walking distance to the harbor- book a snorkel cruise! Just minutes away from amazing restaurants and shops! John is the perfect host- the kitchen is fully stocked and he even had some Maui coffee and Island treats for us upon arrival. You will have your own convenient parking spot just a few feet from the condo, and then right out the back door is the ocean. Just steps away! We had fun watching the turtles and crabs each afternoon and in the morning we would lounge on comfy chairs to see the sunrise. My 11 year old loved the pool too! The beds are super comfortable and the condo stays nice and cool. If this place is an option for your vacation- book it! You won’t regret it. 🌺

Paradise in Maui

We had an amazing time at John's condo! The condo was impeccably clean and had absolutely everything you could possibly need from beach chairs to shampoo! John was also remarkably responsive- we had a quick question about the pool key and he got back to us instantly. He was also super accommodating about letting us check out a little bit later since we had a much later flight. The view of the ocean from the condo and lanai is just absolutely breathtaking. We also loved the slower pace at the condo complex compared to being at one of the big resorts. You can always get a chair at the pool or one of the loungers facing the ocean. Can't recommend this condo or John as a host enough-truly a wonderful experience and wishing we were still in Maui!

Great condo!

Just got back from a week in John’s condo. It was great! Very clean and nicely updated plus it had a lot of extras! It had everything we needed and more. Great location too - easy to get to South and West Maui. We walked down to breakfast at Maalaea General Store for coffee and breakfast burritos that were great! The condo even came with the cutest, softest and friendliest neighborhood cat! We also saw lots of turtles right out back! Would definitely recommend!

Words cannot describe how amazing this property is, but I’ll do my best- The condo is beautifully decorated with a classy beach vibe. The owners also have everything you may possibly need to make your stay superb. I especially appreciated the first aid kit, nice glassware, beach chairs, snorkeling gear & being on ground level! No waiting for an elevator or climbing stairs with all your beach gear! John was always available via text & responded promptly to any questions we had! LOVE this place! 5 stars for certain!

The best stay in Maui!

Photos do no Justice! John’s place is just amazing. The views, you never want to leave specially for that morning sunrise. Being 5min walk to long stretch of beach for morning walks was fantastic. The kitchen is so well stocked. The mattresses and pillows are so comfortable. The bathrooms had everything you ever needed. The condo simply is stocked with all you will need, just impressive! The location is also central that you’re midway to get to everywhere. Lastly, John was an amazing host, he was prompt and communicated everything from A-Z. His guide to local eateries was on point. He made everything so seem-less and even accommodated our late checkout. Thank you John! Hope to return soon:)

Gorgeous view and condo

We loved this condo! The amenities were superb! A beautiful, well stocked kitchen was a delight in which we made meals for the family. The beds were very comfortable. The art is beautiful. A lovely floral arrangement with welcome gifts greeted us upon our arrival! John was very prompt to answer any questions that we had. The information packet that John provided was a wealth of information regarding the condo and the surrounding area. The view was gorgeous! We had breakfast with delicious Maui coffee on the lanai every morning. So relaxing!! Sea turtles every evening and humpback whales in the bay were entertaining to watch! The pool & the grounds were immaculate. We highly recommend this host and this condo!! Can’t wait to return!!

Perfect for a family of 5!

My husband and I traveled with our three kids, ages 11, 10 & 4. This condo is truly a hidden gem. The private pool kept the kiddos busy and the ocean view was spectacular, right outside the condo. The turtles were so fun to watch every day! The island cats were amazing also. The aquarium, restaurants, and shops were just up the road, a short walk. We could easily walk to two beaches as well. The condo itself is really what made our trip so relaxing. Our kids loved the bunk beds! The kitchen was amazing, the hosts have thought of everything! The condo itself was beautiful, just like in the pictures. Updated, clean, and great decorating! Lots of little touches from start to finish. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer inside the unit. Well done John! I will also say, everyone in the condo complex was very nice, we really enjoyed our conversations with everyone! Virtually everything in this unit is brand new with all the accoutrements you would expect in a 5-star hotel at half the price. You'll never forget falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the nearby surf. (A local Maui Realtor recently mentioned one can't sleep closer to the surf without pitching a tent!) In the winter, watch (and HEAR!) the whales breach from your private lanai. Or, just walk 15 steps to the surf's edge and view the sea turtles frolic in their local sanctuary. You'll also find some of the most kind, generous, and genuinely nice neighbors during your stay.
