À propos de cet hébergement

Situé près de Saugatuck-Douglas à Glenn, le club-house est situé sur une falaise, sur une route de campagne tranquille le long des rives du lac Michigan. Un chalet parfait pour les familles pour profiter des sons de la nature et d'un rythme plus lent. Une courte promenade (moins de 1/4 de mile) sur la route vous amène à une pente d'argile herbeuse, vous amenant à la plage de Glenn. Dans les années passées, il y avait beaucoup de plages où vous pouviez faire une sieste, nager ou travailler sur le roman que vous aviez essayé d'écrire. Cependant, le niveau des lacs est très élevé et la plage est maigre. Au cours de l'été, la plage continuera d'évoluer et d'évoluer pour devenir plus large et plus conviviale. Les enfants apprécieront de chasser les bestioles dans la crique ou les ménés dans le grand lac.

La Hollande se trouve à seulement 20 minutes au nord, où vous pourrez regarder des films, des marchés de producteurs, des magasins, des musées et tout ce qui est néerlandais. Saugatuck, réputé depuis longtemps pour sa communauté artistique, se trouve un peu plus près de Glenn. Les galeries sont attrayantes avec des œuvres d'art de pointe d'artistes locaux et le centre-ville de Saugatuck regorge de boutiques amusantes offrant une grande variété de trésors du Michigan à emporter chez vous. Saugatuck a également toutes les normes de vacances - crème glacée, fudge, restaurants et même un ferry! Juste au nord de Glenn, vous trouverez la brasserie Waypost où vous pourrez goûter à la bière locale et grignoter des friandises dans leur camion de nourriture.

Au sud, 15 minutes de route vous mèneront à South Haven, où vous trouverez une grande variété de boutiques, de restaurants et de possibilités de navigation de plaisance. Ne manquez pas le magnifique South Haven Pier et le festival Blueberry! Plus à l'est, se trouve le canton de Casco, qui abrite de nombreuses fermes familiales et caves vinicoles. En fait, vous pouvez visiter les vignobles de nombreux vignobles locaux. Et ne manquez pas Virtue Cidery à Fennville. Des fruits et légumes frais sont disponibles dans les kiosques à la ferme locaux, ainsi que des fromages locaux. Ou rendez-vous à Fennville, à seulement 20 minutes en voiture, pour vous rendre à l’incomparable Crane's Orchard, où vous pourrez déguster sandwiches et tartes, ou au Sel de la Terre, un restaurant de qualité spécialisé dans les produits locaux, le bœuf nourri à l’herbe, les délicieux pains, les pâtisseries et le café. Le sud-ouest du Michigan est un paradis!

Long Weekend in Michigan

This place seemed smaller than listed. I think the description had it at 2,300 square feet or so. I didn't measure it but it would really surprise me if it's that big. The inside of the house was clean but has quite a bit of what I consider to be antique clutter. If you like that type of thing, you'll probably feel right at home here. The yard and landscaping needs a little TLC. The fridge and washer and dryer could be updated. While not right out on Fabun Road, you can see the lake from the cottage (especially from the deck) and the cottage is tucked back on a short dead end road which is quiet and more private than Fabun Road. Not that Fabun Road is all that busy. It's a nice scenic road for relaxing walks. The owner lives nearby and is quick to respond to any questions you have or things you might need. The beach access is 1/4 mile down the road (Glenn Beach access). To get there, you either need to walk or drive and park in the limited parking area for the beach access. The Glenn Beach access lane is fairly steep so watch your step! (the top of the access drive is probably about 50 or so vertical feet above the beach) As the lake level is relatively high right now, the beach is fairly narrow and rocky. If you want a sandy beach, drive to beaches in South Haven (south) or Saugatuck or Holland (north).

We had a wonderful stay here. House was very cozy. The path down to the beach was a little steep so we weren’t able to walk down it but the beaches in South Haven are close and beautiful. Hopefully we will be back again!

Sweet cottage

This is a very sweet cottage in a beautiful location on Lake Michigan. The beach is great for rock hunting and the location is very quiet and peaceful. It is also a very short drive into South Haven for bigger beaches, restaurants and shops. The cottage worked out great for our family's long weekend trip.

We all had a wonderful time. The house was so adorable and had plenty of room for all of us. Patricia was great at communicating and answered all my questions promptly, we even had the pleasure of meeting her the second day we were there. The house does sit off the road and has woods on the back side, very much enjoyed the privacy. The sunsets were absolutely amazing, the beach area was perfect for our 4 teen boys. We just loved everything about our cute little cottage❤️

Owner was very friendly. AC & Wifi worked great. Beach near by is great for rock hunting. Place did have mice, as we found some mice feces, but it is out in the country.

House not as pictured. Good lake views.

When booking this property, it was a budget friendly option that seemed to have the space we needed and looked clean. The age of the home was not a concern but the pictures ended up not being an accurate representation of the house or the location. If you are on a budget but would still like to be close to the lake, this could be a good option for you. As previous reviews state, it was not clean and does have a mildew smell. The blinds didn’t work & had mold on them. The sheets are very old & scratchy so I would recommend bringing your own. On a positive note, the lake views and sunsets are hard to beat. It was a convenient location to all of the local towns to explore and it was affordable compared to other nearby options. Most of the beach photos included are not of the walkable Glenn Beach area.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Read until you get to the part about rodents and non-locking doors…

The place was dirty when we arrived, hair on the stove, dirty counters and such. Turned on the water and the smell of sulfur filled the house. The bedroom on the main floor, has a door that says “Stay out – private”. You cannot open it from your side but you have no way of keeping others from coming in through that door right where you are sleeping. It connects to the other half of the house where I believe the host resides. Very, very creepy! We try and lock up the house for the night. The front and back doors don't lock. This is very disconcerting. At bedtime, I find mice poo on my pillow and night stand. It wasn’t there earlier. Now at 11pm, I am stuck. It was a very long night of sitting up on the sofa not wanting to sleep and debating if I should go sleep in my car. Before leaving in am, we speak with Patricia. She says we should not worry about safety, it is a very safe neighborhood. She knew about 1 of the doors not working and said if we tried hard enough we could get one of the doors to lock. Then when we told her about the mice, she said we were in the country and should expect critters in the house. While we were out, we get a message that she put a mouse trap in the silver drawer where the mice usually go and that she tried getting a handyman but no luck yet. Ick!!!! When we get back to property we find more mice droppings now upstairs where there were none before, this is awful. We open the silverware drawer to find the mouse trap she set and the mice poo right next to the trap that she didn’t even bother to clean up. I have pictures, it was disgusting. We finally give up, we are not staying any longer. I let her know we appreciate her efforts but we are uncomfortable and need to find different accommodations. We ask if she has another property available, she does but says we would find it unsuitable as well. Then I ask her to please refund us the remaining two nights as we would like relocate. She tells us to start the process with VRBO. I ask if she is going to approve the refund. She says “no, this is how I make my living”. “I just didn’t like the place from the beginning and that is the problem”. She proceeds to tell me “Good luck! Sometimes VRBO sides with the guest, but most of the time with the host. So good luck getting your refund!” Wow! There are a lot other issues too many to name.... Ruined our a chunk of our trip! I have pictures & video proof of statements made !

The house is in a good location and it was comfortable enough. The home is very old and needs a little work. (For example I was not able to lock the back door, one of the upstairs bedroom doors needed to be propped shut with a garbage can).

Quaint Cottage Getaway

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The property itself is in a private location, which is great if you're trying to escape the hustle and bustle. We had deer visit us every day and even though it was quite warm when we stayed there, the breeze off the lake made it seem much cooler. Just a short walk and you'll see some of the most amazing sunsets ever. Would definitely recommend this property.

Quality time with Family

There is lots of privacy. This is the first time my sisters and I spend quality time together in a very long time. This place was very homey. The weather was beautiful. The sunset was awesome! Overall, we had a great time. Thank you for your concerns Patricia.

The Piano House

Not only could you see Lake Michigan from the deck while you drank your coffee in the morning, there was a Steinway piano in the living room. Since my husband and I love singing and I play, we had fun in the evenings after a day at the beach singing Show Tunes. The only negative was that there is a pipe or something lifting up out of the floor in the kitchen right in front of the sink so we all tripped on it at least 50 times. This was difficult since we both have bad knees and I have arthritis. So you may want to ask the owner if it has been fixed before staying. I think they should have let us know or put it in the description of the property so people who already have disabilities could make an informed decision. Until it is fixed, we would not stay at this rental property again.

Cute cottage

We had a great time relaxing in this cozy summer cottage, lots to do nearby or just watch the deer and rabbits from the deck. Felt very homey and comfortable. If you’re looking for a modern updated home, this is not for you, but we thought it was great and made some good memories here. Patricia was really sweet and welcoming. The beach was very small because of past erosion but we had enough room for the 6 of us to sprawl out. Recommend bringing a bucket to collect the many cool rocks you’ll find on this beach, is a little tricky and steep steps getting down to the beach. The piano was an added bonus!

No bluff access

There isn’t a fire pit on the bluff you can use, the house has no bluff access and third back from the bluff. You share the water with two other houses. The path to Glenn beach is almost impassible, beach smells all rocks almost no sand. Photos are very miss leading not even close to what is there. Would not stay here again unless price was reduced in half. Owner admitted the pictures were misleading said she would change them, but offered no compensation for deception.

Not as expected

While the owner was responsive, there were some things that made our stay less than desirable. The listing led us to believe that the property was on the lakefront at the top of a bluff, however, it was the third house back from the roadside with only a sliver of lake view from the deck (that is looking over the cars which blocked the shared driveway). The house, while clean as another reviewer stated, was not thoroughly clean--bathroom had a moldy smell, visible rotten wood, tile in shower looked mildewed so we wore our flip flops in to shower, etc. There were also ants in the kitchen. I do not recommend washing whites in the washer as it turned our clothes rust colored and left a bad odor. The deck was not set up to entertain or enjoy. The additional amenities our kids were looking forward to, such as the creek and beach access were not usable. There was a dried up area I believe used to be the creek, which contained broken glass and tires. The listing did warn of less beach due to erosion and water levels changing but what was there was not usable. We drove to south Haven and St. Joseph to use their beaches so did not spend much the at the property. This property did not seem kid friendly and we would not recommend this house without serious updating and accurate listing. Given how little time we spent there, this location was not worth the price and a hotel would have been better (and cheaper) since we would not have to do additional cleaning and stripping of beds.
