Recipient of the rare Class 1 Historic status by the Historic Site preservation Board in 2024, our home is an atomic themed mid century modern in Palm Springs (City ID: 273). Built in 1960 by renowned Palm Springs architect Donald Wexler, the home sits on 1/4 acre, fully fenced, pool, spa. Amenities include saltwater pool (pool heat costs separately charged) and a Tesla wall charger in the carport.

All beds are of high quality as are kitchen stainless steel appliances and the bar is equipped with what you need to imbibe in style. 30 acres of natural desert landscape adjacent under towering Mt. San Jacinto mountains.

This is one of Wexler’s best. Meticulously cared-for, pet-friendly**, authentic midcentury single floor home is a 1,400 sf 3 bed, 2 bath home and a favorite on the annual Palms Springs Modernism Week tours (www.modernismweek.com). Furnished in bold, sleek Atomic age styling. Unlike most Palm Springs vacation rental homes, we live part time in ours and make it available for guests to enjoy as we do!.

Heated pool and spa serviced twice a week. There is an extra charge to heat the pool. Spa is always heated at no charge. Enjoy listening to our huge album collection of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Large screen wall-mounted smart TV's with YouTubeTV and Amazon Prime.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a more original midcentury home available to vacation in than our Wexler.

I can't say enough about Cate and her friend Clifton. Friendly and sweet guests. As architects, they said they always wanted a midcentury experience and it was all my pleasure to host them. Oasis in the desert

This home is spectacular and staying here feels like a magical step back in time. The house was clean and comfortable. Communication with the owner was so easy and his responses were prompt and thoughtful. My friends and I will come back, hopefully for a longer stay, for sure!

The property is an outstanding mid century home close to downtown Palm Springs. The owner is very nice and quick to respond to our questions. If you like mid century architecture this Wexler house would be a nice place to stay. We will be staying here on our next trip to Palm Springs.

We had a fantastic family vacation at this property- and the decor and amenities exceeded our expectations. It is just like the pictures and more! Jyl and her husband Jay and their children were very special guests for us. They drove down from Northern California and it was a special occasion for them and just their presence made it a special occasion for us! They appreciated the mid-century experience that means so much to me personally and means even more when I receive the kind of feedback that she gave. I will say that they were a model guest family as well and it became very obvious the way they cared for our house the way they left our house and could not be happier. Magical Mid-Century Modern!

This beautiful home was fulfilled in its mid-century modern vision, from the neighborhood, furniture, decor, and architecture, down to its awesome vinyl collection. It felt like we got a glamorous glimpse into Palm Springs past but it also has all of the modern conveniences such as wifi, large TV screens and a modern kitchen. We enjoyed it, thoroughly, as well as Larry the owner. I would give it six stars if I could.

60th Birthday Party

A great time at a unique home. Close to restaurants, golf, shopping. Larry communicated with us throughout the stay asking if we needed anything, fantastic host. The home was the perfect venue for my wife’s 60th. Our kids and their spouses were with us and they had a good time as well. The sun was out so we had an opportunity to soak up some rays as well.

Midcentury Perfection

We spent 3 nights at this immaculate house (my wife and two teenagers). Everything about this listing is minimally as advertised. The house is decorated throughout in quintessential midcentury charm right down to glassware, playable vinyl collection, outdoor furniture and wall art. Located in a private neighborhood that is quiet and a quick drive into town. You definitely get to feel like you are living in your own home in another era. While we were there we even had a vintage car onsite to push things over the top! Easy answer, book this place you won't be sorry.

Modernism Week - 2022

The perfect place to stay during Palm Springs Modernism Week. We (3 couples) enjoyed a comfortable stay in a period correct Wexler home. And, the house is decorated and to set the "vibe" it is filled with 50's memorabilia. Larry (our host) was helpful and available. We texted and spoke on the phone several times during our stay for his suggestions and recommendations. As a bonus, in addition to the pool area there are several other outdoor seating / entertainment areas around the home you'll want to explore.

Beautiful holiday stay!

Not only is this property beautiful, but the owner was incredibly kind throughout our stay. We stayed for Christmas and New Years and enjoyed the heated pool, gorgeous home and beautiful, quiet neighborhood. We frequently travel to Palm Springs and I’ve never had such a detail-oriented and kind vacation rental owner. He emailed ahead of time discussing details such as the heated pool and arrival times. He was extremely flexible, which is a breath of fresh air! Also, he was genuinely kind and thoughtful by even asking us if we’d like a Christmas tree to be put up and leaving us a welcome gift. I would highly recommend staying at this comfortable and unique home, and my whole family couldn’t stop raving about it.

Celebrating turning my own mid century birthday in Mid Century Modern fabulousness

Upon my arrival at the home I was greeted by the homeowner, my new Mid Mod friend Larry. Normally I might have wanted to just settle in and rest after my travels but I was so glad he was there to show me around and give me the scoop on the house and neighborhood. We bonded immediately over our shared love of the 60s music, architecture and design! He has done an impeccable, period perfect job of renovation his home in true Palm Springs style while balancing it out with all the current creature comforts a traveler would want and need and more! The place was spotless and anything we needed was right at our fingertips! Oh, and did I mention Larry baked me a delicious birthday cake? We loved our stay and can’t wait to do again soon and often!

What can I say about Loren? She's a fellow midcentury modern aficionado and like she said, we bonded quickly. Loren and her girlfriend's descended upon Palm Springs for her birthday and for the Fall Modernism Week. Since she wanted a true, period correct home I was fortunate enough to host them all. Oren is a great communicator whichbhelped both of us create a great stay, and as a host, I was pleasantly surprised after returning that my home was very well taken care of. Spotless is more like it. Our family getaway to Larry's 1960 Midcentury Modern Palm Springs Home was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported back to a bygone era of sleek design and desert chic. The architecture, true to the vision of Donald Wexler, was a masterpiece of clean lines, expansive windows, and a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor living. The home was impeccably appointed with furniture and decor that captured the essence of the 1960s. It felt like stepping onto the set of Mad Men, but with all the modern conveniences we could ask for. We spent countless hours relaxing by the pool, unwinding in the jacuzzi and enjoying movie nights on the large screen TV and playing games. It's clear that Larry takes great pride in this special property. The thoughtful touches, from the well-equipped kitchen to the extensive entertainment options, made our stay truly effortless. We can't recommend Larry's home enough! It's a perfect place for families who appreciate iconic design and a taste of Palm Springs' history.

Authentic mid century modern desert oasis

We stayed in Larry's phenomenal mid century house over Thanksgiving this year and loved every minute of it. We've stayed in other rentals before and you can certainly tell the difference (for the better!) when a house is actually lived in by the owner. Everything we needed for our stay was there, and everything was as good as the pictures made it look... and most times, it was better in person. Some of our favorite features, in no particular order: - Turntable with a fully stocked selection on vintage vinyl for the family to discover, and the Eames lounger to sit in while you listen. - Vibrant decorations in every room to make you smile. - Modern touches in the kitchen without sacrificing the vintage layout. - So much glassware for all bartending needs. - Perfect sized pool, with comfortable loungers for all. - Great mix of shade and sun outside. - Lots of reading materials about architecture and Palm Springs - Walkable neighborhood with many more beautiful homes to admire Larry was a great host with excellent communication before and during our stay. Tried and enjoyed a couple of his restaurant recommendations. We had considered some other properties that were less expensive, but we're glad we went with Larry's house for all of its authentic mid century charm and beauty.

We are 3rd generation native Californian's. We are committed to all things midcentury including a 1960 Bonneville in the carport. Our home achieved the honor of Class1 Historic Status. Our home is also represented on the annual Modernism Tour each February and has been for many years. Inside is adorned with 1960's and 1970's furniture, furnishings, and accessories in period style. Our home is extremely special to us and we love to share that vibe with our guests.
