We had so much fun on our family vacation. This is a magical island with no cars. The Sandy roads with the palm trees is amazing. You will love the experience.

Thank you for your feedback. We respectfully disagree with this assessment. The home was professionally cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival. Regarding the golf carts, they had recently sustained damage caused by a previous renter. To ensure guests had transportation available, we personally arranged replacement carts at our expense. We take great pride in maintaining our home and providing a positive guest experience, and we remain committed to promptly addressing any concerns brought to our attention during a stay.

The house was great for our family! The island and all the folks who work on the island, were GREAT!!! I wouldn’t recommend arriving much earlier than your check in time if your house isn’t ready:) Other than that, everything was perfect.

BOOK THE TRIP!!!! We stayed with our family of 11 here and had plenty of room. The house is stocked with beach gear, sand toys and anything you could need for a day at the beach. The location is fabulous. The house has everything you could possibly need for cooking and preparing meals. Just a short walk or quick golf cart ride to the beach. The serenity and peace that this island brings doesn’t compare to any other place we’ve been in FL. It will be our new vacation spot moving forward. Very quiet, small crowds and beautiful beaches. We ate at Mango’s and Main Stay and they were wonderful. Everyone we encountered on the island were so friendly and helpful. It is a slice of paradise right here in the States. We loved it!

Oh the Island Life!

We took our multigenerational family for a few days of quiet & sunshine. They loved the place so mush that they want to go back next year!We had a few problems with the house but the management team made it right.Lovely place to spend a few days - or more!

Slice of Paradise

Wonderful stay with a large family of 16. Dreamcatcher is a beautifully decorated home that had everything we needed! From the gorgeous views, comfortable beds, nice showers, and fully stocked kitchen it is truly a slice of paradise! There were two golf carts to explore the island but also a short walk to the beach where we watched the most beautiful sunsets. Would highly recommend and hope to stay at Dreamcatcher again!

Wonderful vacation home for our entire family. Loved the homes layout, plenty of room for everyone, lots to do outside, and even though it was very hot during our stay, the air conditioner worked great and a welcome reprieve from the heat. We did not think we would use the pool after being at the beach all day, but because it was partly shaded everyone jumped in and swam for a while. Great memories were created !!

June Stay

The property and entire process was great. The owner and hosts had great communication from booking to check out. The house was well stocked with everything needed from kitchen supplies to games to play. Great having the pool area to cook dinner while my daughters were playing. We would definitely book here again.

We had a great time during our stay on North Captiva. The location was a short distance from the beach and very quiet. Exactly what we wanted!There were a couple issues (cleanliness of the decks and pool) that were addressed by the property manager. Communication with the owner was excellent…very responsive.We had a wedding during our stay and had dress clothes that needed to be hung up. Closet space was a challenge in some of the bedrooms…-The closet in one of king bedrooms was locked. -The closet in the other king bedroom was full of linens and supplies that reduced space for guests.-The bedroom on the top floor did not have a closet.

Because we’re on a barrier island right by the Gulf, the wind can sometimes blow sand onto the decks fairly quickly, even after they’ve just been cleaned. I’m glad our property manager was able to address it during your stay. Thank you also for the feedback regarding closet space. While closet space varies by room, each bedroom is equipped with dressers for additional clothing storage, and we’ll continue looking at ways to better organize linens so there’s as much space as possible for guests. PICK ME!

We are Florida natives and choose to vacation on North Captiva regularly...whenever we arrive we assess what we have and what we need...this property manager (supported by the owner) was the most excellent of all our stays. The response time was was next day if not sooner. Every beach house has a personality and this one fit the myriad personalities of our three generation family from 6-78...best of all the golf carts were dependable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Family Birthday Retreat

Chose this for a family retreat to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was a wonderful experience. Laurie and her concierge team were especially helpful in navigating transportation, supplies and coordination issues on a semi remote island. Property was perfect for 3 families w/kids. The beach is beautiful and the weather was outstanding during our stay. The boys were very excited about the opportunity to surf fish. One family even did a day’s fishing charter. Even the single day that it rained was relaxing. Everyone said it was great to unplug without all the peripheral activities. Resident’s tip…be careful if you’re making toast as the smoke detector is very sensitive.

We had 3 families with 6 adults and 6 kids and there was plenty of room for all of us. The island is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed the convenience how close the beach was with golf carts. We did have an issue with one of the golf carts the whole time. The charge did not last long and we were almost stranded a couple of times. I think the battery just needs to be replaced. The pool worked the first day and the last day of our stay. Something was broken and it was losing water the whole time. We had to keep a garden hose in it to keep the water level high enough to not burn the pump up. The management company did not do a good job of prioritizing the repair, but as soon as I talked to the host she made sure they were out to fix it. The house itself is more worn-in than the pictures suggest, but you'll have that with any rental property. We ate at all the restaurants on the island and the food was delicious. Our favorite spot was Mainstays. If you arrange ferries to and from and groceries in advance, you will be able to relax and enjoy the laid back vibe of North Captiva.

READ THE SPECIFICS

This property cannot be accessed by car and there are terrible ferry costs and surcharges if you can’t fit within their “hours”. Beyond that they hosts offer to get you groceries for a 40% charge of the cost of the bill. Everything is an up charge and is extremely Inconvenient to get to. If you are okay with that then disregard but make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Great house for a large group

This house worked well for our family trip. Pictures inside are accurate and spaces worked well to have a large group. We did run into a couple of issues:Listing shows that you are part of the Island Club VIP Membership. We did not have access to this. Not too big of a deal since there is still a pool by Mangos for non club members, but would've been awesome to have access to bikes and kayaks. Ended up renting bikes for an afternoon, but would've used them more than once and would definitely have used the kayaks. Pool at the house was absolutely not useable during our stay. Didn't even look like it was running. Property managers knew and apologized, but didn't fix it. We wouldn't have used it anyway because it is TINY. But if you had little kids who wanted to swim while you grill, you'd want to use it. PROSHaving included golf carts was amazing!Weather was perfect over spring break. It's a very relaxing island with no real nightlife. Mangos pool bar was greatOver The Waterfront was a highlight - food was incredible!CONSNo ice maker in the freezer and it was definitely "island pricing" for ice.There is still quite a bit of hurricane damage on the island.

Thank you for your review — we're glad the home worked well for your family and that you enjoyed the 2 golf carts included with your rental, large house that was recently completely remodeled for your group, beautiful weather, and some of the island’s favorite spots like Mangos and Over The Waterfront! To clarify a couple of points for future guests: Guests do have access to Island Club pools. Bikes are only available to rent locally at Boats & Fun and the Island Club doesn't have bikes. Since your stay, the pool at the house has been updated with a brand-new pool pump and is fully operational. While it's not a lap pool, it's a great size for families to enjoy a refreshing swim, unwind with a drink poolside, or let the kids play while dinner’s on the grill. Thanks again for staying with us — we’re happy you had a great time on the island!

Dreamcatcher was perfect house for our group of 12. Plenty of room and amenities that satisfied all our needs. Communication with host was unbelievable, any questions we had were answered immediately. At one point we asked if it was possible to get a few more beach chairs, two hours later 8 new chairs and two umbrellas were delivered to the house. Great place and great host. We will definitely book again..

Wonderful Stay, Amazing House

My family enjoyed our stay at Dreamcatcher! It was a beautiful home with plenty of space for our large 7 adults, and 3 children group. The house is well appointed with everything we needed, plus some! Tortuga Properties was a joy to work with, Duncan and Laurie were always available and quick to answer questions. Arrival and Departure were seamless thanks to Tortuga and their team of people. We can not say enough good things about staying on North Captiva; beaches, sunsets, NCIC pools, Kayaking, wildlife, it was all absolutely wonderful!! We will be returning again!

Magical Family Vacation!

We had the most wonderful 5 days on North Captiva. It was our first time on the island, and we can’t wait to come back! Dreamcatcher was a perfect home base for our group of 6, and could have accommodated another family as well! Our favorite feature was the little pool and patio - perfect for relaxing and grilling after a day at the beach. Dreamcatcher is beautiful and well-maintained - what a lovely home. Tortuga, the property management group was so helpful and easy to work with. All around 5 stars!

Great stay!

We had a great stay at Dreamcatcher! The house was spotless when we arrived and there was plenty of room for everyone. The only 2 comments I have of what could have gone better was that some items did not work as well as expected like the golf cart, and refrigerator and that initially we saw some bugs. Duncan was very responsive and helpful to us and we really appreciated him! We would definitely stay here again. We loved it!!!

Ultimate Relaxation

We absolutely loved our stay at Dreamcatcher and at N Captiva Island. The house was extremely comfortable and clean and well stocked. We didn't lack for anything, and Tortuga was extremely helpful and responsive. They made it very easy to get from the ferry to the house on check-in day and then back to the ferry on the morning we left. The home is a short walk or very short golf cart ride to the beach, and we had all the chairs and towels we needed. First time to N Captiva, and we'd definitely love to return and would definitely stay in this great home again!

Great stay, the single beds are for children not adults

Great place, so close to the beach, There were only two good beds for adults, each king size so they will sleep two. But the singles and bunks are for kids and the one double bed off the kitchen is a fold out, hard for more than one person to sleep comfortably there.
