Aspen Lodge Cabin at Timberline Meadows in Mazama
Summary:
Aspen Lodge is a cozy two-story cabin that sleeps 8, with 2 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a loft (2 twins, 1 queen futon). The open living area has a propane stove, dining table, and well-equipped kitchen. The 1,400 sq ft home also features a gas fireplace, 2 full baths, and a mudroom for gear. Located in Timberline Meadows, 2 miles from Mazama Store, it offers direct access to Methow Trails for cross-country skiing, fat biking, and snowshoeing.
The Space:
Aspen Lodge is a comfortable two-story cabin nestled in the pines with stunning views of the upper Methow Valley. Sleeping up to eight guests, it features two bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a loft space with two twin beds and a queen futon. The open-plan living area is designed for relaxation, with a cozy propane stove, a farmhouse dining table, and a well-equipped kitchen. Large windows frame the serene view of the meadows, bringing in natural light and connecting you to the outdoors.
This 1,400 sq. ft. home is designed as a duplex but is offered here as a full rental. The first floor includes a queen bedroom, a full bath with tub/shower, a spacious living area with two couches and a gas fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. A large entryway mudroom provides ample space for organizing skis and winter gear.
Upstairs, a landing leads to a second bedroom with a queen bed, a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and a loft with two twin beds and a queen futon. A small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker, and sink adds convenience for guests on this level.
Located in the Timberline Meadows community just 2 miles from the Mazama Store, Aspen Lodge enjoys a peaceful setting set back from the road, across open hayfields and backing onto National Forest. In winter, it offers direct access to a Methow Trails groomed cross-country ski, fat bike, and snowshoe trail, making it an ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
The Neighborhood:
The Timberline Meadows development, located in the Upper Methow Valley, is home to eight nightly rentals, as well as several private homes. The homes are all nestled in the trees at the edge of the National Forest. The wintertime âJohnâs Wayâ cross country ski, snowshoe and fat bike trails connects Timberline Meadows to Mazama and the Upper Methow trail system (permits required), making this a great ski-in / ski-out location, away from the bustle of the Mazama trailhead but close enough to ski down to the store.
Itâs a 20 minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 21 minutes to Washington Pass and 27 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this a great hiking base-camp for exploring the North Cascades and for beating the crowds to the trailhead during larch season.
The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and âa little bit of everything goodâ is just a 5 minute drive or 10 minute bike ride from the cabin, and around 20 minutes by ski (depending how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.
The old west town of Winthrop is 12 1/2 miles and around 15 minutes drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments; the Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Raftingâs raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthropâs annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas At The End Of The Road (check the townâs website for details).
Getting Around:
Getting here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over highway 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop.
