Sunsets are spectacular, as the farm faces west. During the summer: there are bikes to ride on the adjacent rail trail, and a golf cart to get around in. Nice quiet home in western VT.
House is great inside and out.
Lots of outdoor options for relaxing, exploring and beautiful scenery.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful.
This was our 2nd trip to Dancing Barefoot farm. Marcus welcomed us & our 2 giant dogs for 10 days. For that we are grateful đ We enjoyed the property immensely. Quintessential Vermont vacation.
Our second visit to this home, very relaxing, quiet, and scenery is beautiful. Enjoyed the property, pond, hiking near by, and biking on the trail next to the farm. Nice out door fire as we watched the sun set over the pond.
We couldn't have had a more relaxing place to recharge. The property is far more beautiful than the pictures show. It's peaceful and private. We will definitely be returning.
Dancing Bear Farm house was the perfect place for our visit - perfectly located, warm, comfortable interior, everything was clean as a whistle, and the enhancements like use of a golf cart to get around the property were much appreciated! The pond is a lovely focal point. We would love to come back!
Marcus is a supreme host who was both generous and cordial â a true pleasure. The farm is spectacular with outstanding sunsets, lush pastures, a thoughtfully landscaped pond and a comfortable, clean house. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place.
Our family stayed at the farm over MLK weekend and had a wonderful stay! The home is absolutely beautiful and very private. It had everything we needed and more. Our dog came with us and enjoyed exploring the property and taking walks on the nearby rail trail. We would highly recommend Marcus and his home - we hope to be back soon!
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. The kitchen is fully stocked. The beds are very comfortable. The covered porch offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, particularly at sunset. The property has so many extra features including the pond, stream, hammock, and gazebo. There were so many beautiful places to explore nearby, but you could also be perfectly content just relaxing at this lovely home.
We had a magical week at Dancing Barefoot Farms. The property itself has endless areas to explore with each having a gorgeous view. We enjoyed watching the sunset and reading books at the gazebo, fishing in the pond, exploring the property in the golf cart and especially enjoyed caring for the sheep. My teens woke up early each day for the âsheep choresâ and we were able to enjoy coffee on the porch that overlooks the spectacular view. The home is right on the rail trail which is great for running or biking. The home itself was incredibly comfortable, had everything we could possibly need. Thereâs just so much to do and thereâs also the enjoyment of doing nothing but relaxing. Towns are about a 15-30 minute drive, but the property is so nice we spent most of our time at the house.
My family of five (plus our dog) had a wonderful wintertime stay at Dancing Barefoot Farms. We were greeted with a personalized welcome sign and a friendly and informative tour by Teri, the caretaker. The home is a gorgeous open concept farmhouse with rustic touches and all modern amenities. The decor is cozy and comfortable, not overly decorated or fussy. The house has great views of the property from any of the first or second floor rooms. Our family had a blast playing board games in the game room downstairs, sitting on the deck, in the gazebo, by the pond, walking the property, and on the nearby rail trail. You can hear one of the three streams from wherever you are outside which instantly lowers your stress levels. The highlight for us was caring for the sheep and guanaco (the "guard llama"). We visited them several times a day and just enjoyed interacting with them and learning their personalities. My three teenaged kids had a wonderful time on this vacation (which started out as, "uh, what are we going to do exactly?") Answer: interact with each other, with the farm animals and with nature. I would 100% recommend staying at this relaxing farm. Marcus was a responsive host who is a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for having us!
Everything was awesome. We booked the place for 5 days through new years and we cannot stop raving about how cool it was. The house is a pleasure to stay in and the fireplace was the highlight of the trip. We bbq-ed outside on the deck with the charcoal grill and we even fished in the pond (when it was not forzen). Amenities and communication with the owners was outstanding and that alone will make us come back to this place. We cannot wait to see how great it is in the summertime. Definitely a must stay
Our stay was awesome!! The only problem was that it wasnât long enough! The house was perfect and we did not want for anything. The grounds and location are beautiful and peaceful. The golf cart was a fun addition. We would definitely stay again! For summertime visitors swimming in the marble quarry in Dorset was a great experience! The pinball museum in Manchester was also a hit!! Marcus was extremely responsive. Thank you both for sharing your home with us!!
If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place to rest and recharge, this place is for you! It was very well stocked and had everything you need. The property is absolutely stunning. Photos do not do it the justice it deserves. We enjoyed watching thunderstorms roll through on the spacious deck, swimming in the pond and tending to the sheep. Our dog had a blast as well!! The host Marcus is so kind and responsive. Highly recommend in every aspect and would give 6 stars if i could!!
The owner was very responsive to questions I had before and during the stay. Some nice personal touches I noticed when arriving.
My friend tested positive for Covid the morning of arrival so I went by myself and felt comfortable and safe and was so grateful to be able to feed the sheep and Llama Candy :)
The property is beautiful and spent a lot of time on the deck which has cover, even sat out during the rain. Able to see the sun setting, best ones with a little bit of cloudsâŠWent on some excursions with the electric bike which is awesome by the way!
I did not have any cell service and internet was reliable for WiFi calling and texting, etc.
Overall a relaxing and peaceful trip!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farm during Thanksgiving week. The owner (Marcus) provided a very complete welcome package and we had no issues gaining access. The house was spacious and well equipped, with reliable internet service and plenty of firewood. After some helpful instructions from a neighbor (Teri) my partner enjoyed feeding and looking after the resident animals. The weather was a bit too cool to take advantage of the property's many outdoor amenities but we did hike the nearby Rail Trail and enjoyed the impressive mountain views from the front porch. I should note that the farm is quite isolated. While conditions were mostly dry during our stay I'd imagine that the surrounding country roads could be somewhat challenging in bad weather. As long as you're comfortable with that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property.
We originally had 5-6 people but ended up with 4 adults & a chocolate lab! If you are looking for semi rustic, quiet, peaceful place to hang your hat THIS IS THE PLACE! The experience of bonding with Candy and the "boys" was awesome. They greeted us and our lab every morning & evening! Our lab made friends, if you can only see the videos! Hilarious...No major flaws with this rental! Glad we brought our lantern! Enjoy your cup of coffee or glass of wine sitting on this huge deck with scenic views! Only about 20 mins or so to Manchester but in Vermont it feels like 5! Just walking the property with the streams running thru was breathtaking...relaxing by the firepit...viewing the fresh water pond...soaking it all in. We all agreed to visit in the summer!!.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us.
I canât begin to describe this piece of Heaven. The ownerâs thoughtful attention to every little touch made our stay the most memorable Iâve had on a VRBO stay. From the pond to the flowing stream to the hill with the Firepit that overlooked the mountain, it was incredible. Our teacup sized dogs loved the golf cart and the rail trail was amazing to walk. The house itself felt just like home. It was beyond stocked and clean. Lots of room to relax and the massive front porch overlooking the property did not disappoint. The sheep and their guardian, the lama, were the most endearing part of the trip. We literally got to know them and will miss them. If I could live here I would. The privacy, the peace and the view will not disappoint. You will never find a better place to relax. And the proximity of the farm to Dorset and Man Hester is awesome! Lastly, Marcus was incredible to work with. He was responsive, caring and generous with everything here on the farm. He loves every inch of this place and it shows. Thank you for one of the best memories Iâve ever had.
Great property, amazing deck, house has room for improvement
Our family of 5 plus our dog stayed at the house for one week. We have mixed feelings about our stay. Overall we loved the property and location. Sitting on the deck, overlooking the property and soaking up the beauty of the surrounding hills was a real treat. The golf tee and electric bike were big hits. Easy access to the bike trail, nearby hikes, swimming/cliff jumping at the nearby Dorset Quarry made this location ideal. The interior of the house is also beautiful with the exposed beams and farmhouse feel. And we were grateful for the AC as the temperatures were quite high for the first few days of the trip.
However, we did experience some frustrations/ disappointments with the house during our stay. We were told just a couple weeks before our stay that the sheep would not be on the property, which was a disappointment for our group, but not a deal breaker. The low water level of the pond was unfortunate, but certainly not in the control of the owners. The basement (where two of the bedrooms are) had a damp/musky smell, so we spent minimal time down there. The cleanliness of the house, especially the kitchen and bathrooms, had some room for improvement.
But the major frustration was with the plumbing of the kitchen sink. The sink drained extremely slowly (it was not uncommon for 4-6 inches of water to build up after the preparation of just one meal and take 5+ hours to drain fully) We messaged the owner to ask about it. It was a known issue, and we were directed to not use the dishwasher and to minimize use of the sink, since a plumber could not come back out until after the end of our stay. We devised a system of using a bowl to catch water and dumping it into the bathroom sink, but this made the process of cooking and washing dishes for our family of 5 to be extremely tedious and unenjoyable. It is our opinion that due to this issue this house should not be considered ready to rent until this issue is fully resolved.
We are a retired couple who are also empty nesters, and we love trying new hobbies! We have Valais Blacknose sheep, beehives and a small vineyard for table grapes! We also love making the property more enjoyable for family and friends. The farm is a special getaway to explore and learn about things we never thought we'd get a chance to do! Come enjoy the Vermont experience!
It's beautiful and remote enough to feel like a getaway, but still close enough to the resorts and bigger towns should you want to shop, dine, or see the sights. It is close to the Merck farmland center which has awesome trails and activities to engage in. The property is fed by 3 springs, so you can ALWAYS hear the sound of moving water. The rail trail borders the property so you can bike, jog, walk or ride your horse along a groomed path. At the end of a private road, the property is situated so you have total privacy.
We offer a great place to relax. ! As part of your stay, you get to play shepherd (totally optional) and see after our 6 sheep and one llama, "Candy". The sheep are called Valais Blacknose, and they are originally from the hills of Switzerland. They are known as "the cutest sheep in the world"! Or, just sit in the hot tub and enjoy the view. It's right on the porch. Our property has three streams flowing through it, and a trout stocked pond that you can fish and/or swim in! You also are able to get around the property by golf cart, which makes exploring the 10 acres a treat!
