Thank you for your stay Rhonda. We love that the house is right next to the water and the NC mountains do have steps. Bear Paw on Lake Hiwassee is a quiet community so neighbors appreciate guests being mindful of noise especially from extreme boat speakers. Homeowners worst nightmare. My housekeeper called me Saturday July 24 after the Bogetveit departure to tell me this was her worst cleanup in 15 years. I drove to NC to investigate my home. The sliding glass door handle was broken off and left lying on the deck; the downstairs bath had a feminine hygiene tampon sitting in a pool of urine, sugar and food were maliciously poured on both floors and big black ants were infested, my cabinets and closets had everything taken out, 3 pieces of cookware were ruined, the housekeeper had 3 bags of trash to haul off, food was on the counter, spilled and left in the refrigerator (house rules were broken). There were crushed potato chips in the chest drawers in the basement. These guests started calling me Saturday complaining about internet speed in the mountains, lack of landline and stairs. They were heavier people and my description says there are stairs as the house is next to the water. We are in the NC mountains. I keep the house on 73 degrees with a 3 degree up and down variant because I don't wish for my unit to be frozen up. The pictures were all handing sideways and the children had destroyed the downstairs area. I am a 5 star Super Host on AirBNB and recently started using VRBO. These adult guests were worst than a frat house. It is my hope they will not be able to maliciously destroy another home on any vacation website. I have several photos of the damage and disgust in my home. Do not rent to these disrespectful individuals.

Homeowners open their homes to give guests the opportunity to experience the tranquility of a wonderful vacation. Most guests are respectful and treat others homes as they would theirs. As an Airbnb Superhost 5 star, I've recently experienced poor guests who have allowed children to jump on beds and mistreat their property. I live 2 hours from my lake home and check on it frequently. I just went up Monday to have the bed that was made when the lake house was built repaired. It was not old. Memorabilia photos are in my home from my families experience on lake as you can see in VRBO photos. Dirty diapers and broken glass should not have been left on property. Damage deposit protection is in tact for a reason. This was the first time in 2 years I've ever had to use.
