What a peaceful beautiful home. Cozy and the best ambience surrounded by gardens and redwoods. The hosts are wonderful and kind. I will definitely come again and would highly reccommend
We loved this spot. Quiet, secluded, and surrounded by redwoods Walking distance or short drive to state park trails. Or plenty to do right on the property. Would definitely return. Hosts were great.
What a great place! Within walking distance of a beautiful trail and easy driving to other nearby attractions. Holly and Mel were very gracious hosts. I would highly recommend this special place if youâre looking to be in the heart of the redwoods!
This is our second stay at this property. We love this farm in the Redwoods. The owners are lovely, they let us pick veggies from the fields. We loved being able to buy delicious blackberry Popsicles, and my son loved picking wild blackberries from the bushes along the road. The very best part were the peaceful evenings reading on the deck. Our kids loved all the yard games. This home's proximity to my favorite Humboldt Redwoods hike is also a plus. Make sure you check out the Drury Cheney Trail is you stay here!!
Stayed here for The Avenues of the Giants half marathon. There were 4 of us and the house worked out perfectly! It was a great size for our small group, clean, and in the best location for the race. The hot tub was great to ease our aching muscles and having coffee on the porch in the brisk morning air while watching the sun rise over the trees was picturesque. The pictures do not due justice to the charm of the house and the location among the redwood trees. It was a great location for everything we wanted to do and had easy access to nearby towns. This house worked out better than we could have hoped and will definitely stay again the next time we visit the redwood trees and The Avenue of the Giants.
Beautiful, quiet place close to the giant redwoods
The place was wonderful, quiet, and beautiful. We had a group of 5 and there was plenty of sleeping space for everybody. Lots of outdoor games set up around the yard and the gorgeous garden and free produce were a huge plus. The hot tub was a nice perk too. Would definitely stay again.
Hollis is a fantastic host and the property is amazing - several acres of veggies and if you're staying there you can pick your own dinner. Definitely would make this a destination stop!
Was adorable, and loved how close it was to my favorite trail (Drury-Chaney!) Also, didn't know there was a Tesla charger before I got in there but sooo handy!
I and my family enjoyed the stay. Since phone service was limited we engaged in more activities together, read books, and made good memories. Easy access to the Avenue of the Giants, Drury-Chaney Trail, Eel River, and various beaches were highlights. Relaxation is a vacation requirement and the hot tub and outdoor areas were great for this.
This is our 4th time to visit this house. No internet and TCV but it's perfect for our family vacation house. Great and peaceful location surrounded by redwoods. The owner of the house is super nice. We would love to come back again!
Amazing location on the the Ave! Hosts were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the surrounding redwood parks and trail. The night sky is dark and great for stargazing if you don't mind a few bats flapping around. A nature lovers paradise with everything you need.
Great private location was just what we needed, cutest little place with wood burner and toasty hot tub. Cabin had all the little extras to make your stay enjoyable. We will be back !
Lovely, lovely rural setting and beautiful home. Amazing grounds and farm atmosphere. Don't forget about the hot tub- what a treat. Great areas for Fido to wander. Amazing setting on the Avenue!! Won't disappoint.
Holly and Mel's place is the best kept secret in Humboldt Redwoods State Park! First of all, hosts are extremely welcoming and if you are dog person Aria will steal your heart!
Don't miss out on blackberry popsicles because those are the best you've ever had.the place is perfect for day hikers and those who seek a getaway to disconnect from the busy world.
This place is on our top 5 list of best stays.
This cottage has a private yard with fruit trees, badminton net, charcoal grill and views from the living room and kitchen. The hot tub is relaxing after redwood hikes. The hospitable hosts gave us fresh lettuce from their garden and one can buy homemade blackberry popsicles from their farm stand. The kitchen is well appointed. We would definitely recommend a stay here!
I went with my aunt and mom and we had so much fun. The cabin is at the northern end of the Avenue of the Giants, which is such a magical part of the world. The owners live next door on a small farm where you can eat fruits and vegetables directly from the garden. There's a dog on the property that would come by and say hi. The cabin has basic provisions but no wifi and almost no cell phone reception, but we could have stayed another week and been happy. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking to unplug in the redwoods.
For a peaceful, relaxing retreat to the redwoods, we couldnt have found a better place than Holly and Mel's! Friendly host, very flexible with check-in and out process. Living space was cozy and perfectly sized for family of 4. While there is no wifi, we found ourselves playing games, enjoying the hot tub(best part of my day), playing badminton, reading and of course touring the majestic area surrounding the home. Fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, bedroom area and a bookcase full of books and games. Washer/dryer was a nice surprise as we didnt see notice it on the list of amenities. I would highly recommend this place while in the redwoods area.
This is a perfect location if you want to be near a lot of groves of the giant redwoods. Among others, two of our favorites were Founders' Grove and Rockefeller Loop, both just a short and scenic drive from the cabin. If you want to go north to check out the beaches near Trinidad, it's only about an hour away and Eureka is only 30 min away. There are even some nice groves within walking distance of the cabin. The location is ideal if you want to do a lot of exploring of the redwood forests, as we did.
The cabin itself was very cozy and comfortable. The hot tub was a standout and we used it frequently. My partner said it was the best hot tub she'd ever been in. We thought the bed was very comfortable as well. There is also a washer and dryer which was a nice convenience to have.
A couple of things to bring up, not as negatives, just so you can be aware. First, as others have said, cell phone service will either be weak or nonexistent, depending on your provider. I had a weak signal on AT&T and my partner had no signal on T-Mobile. It wasn't really a big deal to us but if you need to be connected 24/7 you should be aware of it. However, it was only a short 10-ish minute drive north to get in reasonable coverage. Also, there is no heat or AC in the cabin. There is a wood burning stove with some chopped wood outside if you want heat, though, and we had no need of AC in late April when we visited.
Staying here was a great experience and we were happy we chose this option!
Mel and Holly Kreb have lived on this little piece of paradise for over thirty years. Mel grew up on a family dairy farm in Iowa which explains the onsite two acre veggie garden. Holly's background is in art and design, evident in the place's warm welcoming decor. Both of their grown kids remain committed to organic agriculture, personally and professionally.
