Live like a local in a home located in the heart of Germantown/Schnitzelburg, Louisville's most vibrant neighborhood. Walking distance from loads of restaurants and bars, you can enjoy those things that make Louisville unique, day and night. When you return to your new home away from home, enjoy a rotating collection of local art, borrow a growler to get filled at one of the nearby breweries, or just relax on the back deck. Suitable for a quick weekend getaway or weeks at a time.
We loved staying at this property! It is truly close to *everything* to do in Louisville. We were pretty booked with events/visits/etc. during our weekend, and nothing was more than 10 minutes away by car. We loved that the house had independant art on the walls throughout, and if you're spending more time at "home" than out, theres a large shelf stocked with board games and large dining room table you can play them at! It is true there is no washing machine for clothes, but for a shorter trip, that wasn't an issue for us. Also, we were SO happy to find a pet friendly place! Be warned: the backyard is NOT fenced in. We still planned on taking our dogs out on a leash, so it didn't matter for us, but definitely beware not to just let your dog out without checking (I would recommend that for any property you're not familiar with though.) Cool bars within walking distance, Kroger is a very short car ride away (<5 minutes) if you need groceries. We definitely recommend and would absolutely book here again when we want to stay in the city.
This property is on the smaller side. We had 5 adults and it was âtightâ considering there is only 1 bathroom. However, that was probably poor planning on my part and not a misrepresentation from the host. The bedrooms are small. Technically there is 3, but that is a stretch considering one is the size of a closet (has a queen bed), 1 has a twin and is in a back room with an exterior door. The âmasterâ bedroom was fine. My only other gripe would be that the back bedrooms were COLD. But the host provides extra blankets, so once we were settled in bed it was fine.
The house is close (walking distance) to several neighborhood bars, but a drive/uber to downtown. That wasnât a problem for us, but something to consider.
I will say the host was attentive, friendly and the property was spotlessly clean. She was also responsive âafter hoursâ when we had an issue that was out of her control. She responded quickly and kept us informed. (It was a water issue in the neighborhood and the city had it fixed quickly).
All in all, it was a fine stay for a short period of time. However, I donât think Iâd stay again with any more than 4 people.
Although we appreciate an old house it seems the owners don't. This house needs a lot of love and future guests - paying guests! - deserve more hospitality and consideration. Beware, there isn't a washer and dryer. We had to reuse our towel many times because there aren't enough without stains that might be blood as the stains are rust colored! We considered leaving the first night because our child was scared of the house. There are tacky and ugly photos about that most people would find appalling. Does not respect the history of the home, neighborhood nor town. A professional decorator might help. Or just some thoughtfulness to consider others.
Couldn't enjoy the back porch and neglected yard. It's been given over to cats and reeks of cat urine and waste. Shame!! The front yard smells of it, too. The porch swing was not clean and had bird droppings on it!
The other reviews... what property are they describing? Not this one. We felt scammed.
Beware the bath tub, too. The shower curtain is too long but you must shower with it and still, water gets on the floor. There is no where to put your shower or bath supplies. No shelf, no rack.
The neighbors and street seem nice though. The neighborhood seems safe. This house though? May be the thorn of it. Please give it some tlc, house & yard. The handrail at the steps is broken.
The price is low but the location is good. Fix it up, charge more. W/D, better decor, landscaping, new towels!
Very pleasant, very comfortable house in a cool neighborhood. The hosts were very easy to communicate with. Plenty of space for a decent size family or group to hang out. Check out was very simple and easy.
Great location! This is a clean and interesting shotgun-style house in the heart of Germantown. A block away from Hauck's and Hop Atomica brewery, and under a 10 minute walk from tons of good bars and restaurants. Owner was communicative beforehand to let us know all the necessary details. I would absolutely recommend this spot for friends or family looking for a quiet place with good access to the local area.
I loved the feel of the house. You could tell it had been there for a long time but was well taken care of. The beds were super comfortable and i appreciated that there was no TV in any bedroom. The wall of boardgames was a really nice touch.
The hosts were very communicative, the place was clean and comfortable for all three of us. Close to everything. It served as a great HQ for our bourbon trail adventures.
Totally enjoyed your beautiful comfy home! Spent a lot of time enjoying the front porch and deck! Enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance of the house! Downtown close and convenient! Loved watching the planes come and go! If we are ever in Louisville again we will definitely try to book this home again! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!
A wonderful little getaway spot that has everything you need. We enjoyed the neighborhood nightlife at Hauckâs Corner and The Pearl. All within walking distance. Catherine was very accommodating and responsive. Highly recommended!
