You're invited to The Julep House NuLu by BNB Louisville: The Julep House NuLu is a piece of history in the heart of Louisville's hip Phoenix Hill/NuLu district. Step inside and you are immediately greeted by authentic touches of our bourbon heritage and southern charm. The home is completely updated inside and out and boasts 3 cozy bedrooms, a spacious living room, bathroom, and a well equipped kitchen. Whether you're here for the bourbon, horses, work or play, the Julep House NuLu puts you at the center of everything. Prime Derby Spot!!!

This original brick home is approximately 130 years old, and has no doubt bore witness to all of the historic and progressive changes that have occurred in Phoenix HIll, NuLu, and the surrounding area. Immediately upon entering, you know you're in Louisville. The living room boasts a very large "map" of Kentucky, made out of authentic bourbon barrel staves, which is the perfect backdrop for group photos from your vacation; as well as a whiskey barrel bar from Peerless to help you craft your perfect drink. The interior has been updated throughout - it's a comfortable space to return to after a day of seeing everything Louisville and the Kentuckiana area has to offer.

Being frequent travelers, and lovers of all things food and drink ourselves, we made sure the kitchen and bar are fully stocked with everything we could think you might need to cook a full dinner, mix craft cocktails, or enjoy takeout from a local restaurant.

The private fenced backyard is the perfect spot to sit and swap stories or have a morning coffee.

Whether you're crossing the street to grab a breakfast burrito, a cup of coffee, or a late night beer; strolling up to Market Street for an amazing meal or local shopping; or knocking a half dozen distilleries (all within walking distance) off of your bourbon trail map, the location of Julep House NuLu puts you the center of everything to see, do, and eat in this amazing city.

Here's a list of some of our favorite spots - from steps away to a short drive.

DISTILLERIES - in order of distance from the home, are Rabbit Hole (0.5 miles), Angels Envy (.9 miles), Old Forester (1.5 miles), Evan Williams (1.9 miles), and Kentucky Peerless (2.2 miles). We consider all of these walkable. However, if you're going to hit all of them in one day, we suggest starting at Peerless and working your way back so the walk home is only 3 blocks. Evergreen is our favorite local liquor store, where you can not only shop, but also purchase samples of extremely rare and hard to find whiskies, and the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. Falls City Beer is across the street, 2 to 3 blocks north you can find Akasha Brewing, West Sixth Brewery, Goodwood Brewing, and Ten20 Craft Brewery. Just across the creek in the Highlands are Gravely Brewing, Mile Wide Beer, and Hi-Wire Brewing. No matter what your tastes are, be sure to buy a bottle or two to bring back. We have all the glassware and barware you need to enjoy your purchases in the comfort of your own private space.

EATING - Anyone who eats will be pleased with the dining options within a 10 minute walk. Dogebeans, Please & Thank You, and Quill for coffee. Bisquit Belly, Bandido Mexicana, or Toast on Market for Breakfast. Royals Hot Chicken, Grind Burger, or Feast Barbecue for Lunch. La Bodeguita De Mima, Mana Cafe, or Emmy Squared for dinner. And those are just a sample of options that are a stone's throw away, and some of the best food we've enjoyed. A longer, but easily doable walk (or short drive away) you'll find yourself on Main Street in downtown known as Whiskey Mile if you head west, or Bardstown Road if you head east. The dining and shopping increase exponentially in each direction.

SPORTS/ENTERTAINMENT - Sports fans will be happy to hear that Slugger Field, The Louisville Slugger, The Muhammad Ali Center, The Frazier History Museum, and the KFC Yum! Center are all within 2 miles. Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum are less than a 15 minute drive. The Great Lawn just north of Downtown offers a variety of concerts and cultural events throughout the year, or a place to walk with river views.

Wonderful House and Location

Everything was great. The house was wonderful and clean, and also in a terrific location. Communication before, during, and after check-in/check-out was excellent. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Louisville.

Our stay was pleasant! Everything was accurate as described. We drove every where per our preference but everything was very close in proximity. We tried a few of the food recommendations listed and they did not disappoint, could only assume that none would. It was a great stay, we would stay here again!

The Julep was great for what we needed. We were down for basketball and didn’t hang out in the house much, but it was clean, simple, had enough room for all of us, and was centrally located. Super cute. A lot to do around the area.

Expectations Exceeded!!

This house exceeded expectations. Loved the perfect balance of minimalism while having everything necessary for our stay. Cleanest floors I’ve ever seen in a vacation rental. On-street parking was never an issue as there was always plenty to be had. House is located in an up and coming area with a nice brewery just down the street. Restaurants are within a short distance and if it hadn’t been so hot, we could have easily walked. Bats Baseball Stadium is nearby and we recommend going to a game. Louisville Slugger museum is pretty cool too. If you have a little dog, just be aware that there are smallish gaps in the fence out back. 10/10 would recommend.

KY Roadtrip - 4 adults - 4 kids - 2 dogs

Check in was ok. They requested that we let them know when we would be there. Did that. However, the code to the door would not work. Called the hosts, they fixed the problem ASAP. - Great communication with them. The house itself is very nice. Plenty of room for all of us to stretch out. The only tiny complaint was with kitchen. Everything in this house is geared towards grown-ups and drinking. Everything is glass, so we were walking on eggshells hoping the kids wouldn't drop anything. No mixing bowls or baking pans. We cook a lot. The fenced in back yard was the selling point for us and we were disappointed. There is a mulberry tree that covers the area and had dropped fruit everywhere. The porch had not been swept off or cleaned for what looked like a while so the fruit was squished and sticky all over, which tracked in the house. The outside furniture was nasty. The cushions had black mold all over them and were unusable. Kids weren't able to use the backyard and the dogs didn't want to either. Aside from the outside and the lack of pans/bowls, we were comfortable.

Great spot to experience Lousiville

Quick boys trip to experience downtown Louisville. Perfect spot to jump around - convenient parking right out front. Short walk to bars / restaurants, scooters a block away for farther destinations (all of downtown Louisville). Highly recommend as a place to put your foot up after a long day - and hop right back into it the next day.

Perfect location!

My husband and I came up from Texas for Bourbon, of course!! This location in Nulu was perfect for our day trips to the distilleries in Bardstown and Frankfurt. We walked to several breweries, restaurants and bars that were only a few blocks away. We highly recommend Emmy Squared for pizza…SO GOOD! The cute little home is decorated perfectly, the beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed for our morning coffee and evening wine. Although, I would imagine if you had several couples, the one bathroom might be an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be thrilled to go back next time!
