The description is very deceiving. We arrived to the property around 10:30pm and the front door was ajar. Yes, that should have been our red flag to nope right out of there, but it was late and all other hotels were booked so we did a thorough sweep of the property and found nobody inside or around it. I contacted the host and she was very responsive, which was a plus. She indicated that the cleaning crew must have left it opened when they left earlier.
The home wasnât as clean as Iâd expect if the cleaning crew has just left. Baseboards were coated in layers of dust, walls had various stains, cobwebs(complete with tenants!) & random hairs on surfaces & bedding. The hall bathroom had holes in the wall where towel hangers appeared to have been yanked out. A window in the middle room had a cracked window with scotch tape over the cracks.
Another oddity was the hot water in the showers. It was a game of skill to find the hot water and if you turned it a smidge too far left it was cold and a smidge too far right it was scorching. Also of note was the absence of toilet paper and bath mats.
Yes, we stuck it out for 3 nights since we were literally only there to shower and sleep, but it was not the luxury accommodations as described in the listing.
This VRBO was advertised as a luxury property. It was more basic. The beds were comfortable and the layout worked well for four adults. However if you are planning to eat and or cook, there are some obstacles. There wasn't sufficient silverware for four people, there wasn't a hot mitt for the oven, and overall the kitchen was limited in accouterments.
