Experience the Lowcountry feel and Southern Charm with beautiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. The cottages include all the amenities to help you feel right at home. A beautiful setting sitting on the porch on a rocking chair enjoying the breeze Hilton Head Island offers. Walking distance to the beach, a short drive from restaurants, shopping, tennis, golf and more. Ride your bike throughout the island from the cottages since Hilton Head Island offers over 80 miles of bike paths.
I enjoyed the historical neighborhood. The cottage sets back from the street adding to the quaintness. The place was spacious, however we were a bit disappointed that only one bedroom had a tv. A few minor updates would make it an excellent space.
Description of the house itself was pretty accurate. Big, beautiful home and shaded, protected location. Lots of cabinets and closets inside.
Communication before Check In didnât happen, but we were able to reach the owner about 30 minutes after 4 and get in the home. House needs minor attention- freezer and water line on the refrigerator was broken (owner provided a bag of ice, which was nice) and mildew has formed under caulk in the showers (which is fairly common in vacation rentals.) House was veery clean otherwise. Outside needs some minor repairs/ touch ups, but in good shape.
Weâre a pretty chill group and family, so we donât get bothered by much. The following would really irk more picky renters:
The home is in the direct flight path of the HH commercial airport. Planes come and go all day and sometime low enough to rattle the home- which can be nerve wracking at first, but after a while you donât notice as much.
There is no easy access (walking or otherwise) to the beach and the only option is to drive and park. Fish Haul Beach was the closest option and parking was free with nice facilities, but the sand beach itself is very narrow and at low tide becomes a 100 yard mud flat. Itâs a beautiful example of the low country ecosystem, however, not great for swimming. Not a lot of people there, which is great.
We opted to go to Driessen Beach, which was fantastic; $1 an hour shaded parking and a perfect beach. Loads of food/shopping nearby afforded a very nice vacation.
Convenient location, close to airport. This cottage was spacious and comfortable in a small neighborhood with similar cottages. JPGA camp students stay here. We loved everything about it. Neat and clean. Airplanes fly over during the day, but don't disrupt sleeping hours.
We rented this beach house for my Dadâs 60th birthday, and we all loved it! The house has a huge front porch with rocking chairs and we had coffee every morning out there looking at the beautiful oak trees covered in Spanish moss. I was pleasantly surprised that all three main bedrooms were on the first floor, and each had their own bathroom. They are all very spacious, and the master bedroom had a huge TV. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed using the grill on the side of the house. One fun feature not mentioned in the listing was the full size basketball court on the side of the house. We used that a few times. The house was very clean. I will say one unique thing about the location is that itâs super close to the airport. Itâs so close that the planes fly almost directly above the house and itâs very loud. We really only noticed it the first night though. It was close to several beaches with one secluded beach that had a lot of wildlife, and was less than a 5 minute drive away with plenty of parking. Restaurants and shops were only a 10 minute drive away too. Keith was very nice to accommodate our request for an extra hour checkout too. Overall, we loved our stay!
This house and host were both wonderful! Host was easy to communicate with me, and the house is a beautiful place to stay with such comfy amenities.
The only suggestion I can think of is to maybe explain a little more clearly how far it is to the public access beaches. The beach near the house is not what we expected. It is more of a lake beach. You will need to drive and park for public access beaches. Just be aware the beach near the house is not like being in an ocean beach... it is an interesting beach but not what you may be expecting for surf and waves. đ
Otherwise, all else is spot on! Would stay here again
The house was beautiful and clean with much more space than we expected. In a quiet neighborhood except for being near the airport, although the sound of planes was occasional and only lasted for seconds.
The property is near a historic park which was very interesting and a beautiful marsh. access to the beach is technically âwalkableâ but we found having to walk through an unmarked path, they a marsh, was not what we expected. Still, it was a very short drive to better beach access.
Would highly recommend this property and host.
Overall we liked it, itâs very nice house to stay in. Instructions did indicate not to lower the AC below 72 which is a problem for me since we like it really cold, and you guys probably should get monthly pest control service because we did see a few bugs there and here in our short 3 day stay. However I would recommend this place to anyone it was clean, roomy, and very well taken care of!
