Birdnest Family Lake House - Spacious Lake McQueeney Home

Hello! Thank you for considering staying at the Birdnest Family Lake House. My husband, David, and I purchased the home in January 2021. The Birdnest Lake House has had a positive VRBO rental experience since 2016, and we look forward to the privilege of serving the same 5 star customer service as the previous owners.

The Birdnest Lake House is a spacious 4 Bed/3 Bath updated home on beautiful Lake McQueeney. Located on a quiet street with easy access to Interstate 10 and Hwy 46.

Our two story home has 2 bedrooms/1 full bath downstairs with a living area and kitchen. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms/2 full baths and large kitchen, dining and open living areas. The home can sleep 14 comfortably.

The main living space and newly updated kitchen is on the second floor. Entertaining is easy on the large granite island (seating 6) and family style table (seating 8). Relax and watch the big screen TV in the family room on comfortable leather couches or just enjoy the picturesque view of the lake.

The home was remodeled in 2011, and a second kitchen was created on the first floor with an additional dining and seating area. This area has recently been updated with new living area furniture and a dedicated work space area for those who may need to work (or school) remotely. We have upgraded WIFI and extenders for full home coverage.

The home is perfect for multiple families renting or when cooking for large groups. No problem with refrigerator space, we have 2 in addition, we have two wine refrigerators.

Plenty of parking underneath the car port (room for 6 cars). For those bringing a boat or jet skis, we have a fully enclosed boat house with an electric lift, and a kayak for use. Our neighborhood's private boat launch is available for guests as well. We have a large fenced backyard (great for pets) and the lake is just steps away from the backdoor.

There is a spacious dock over the water with table and chairs provided. Not a 'sun seeker'? No problem, our home has a wrap around porch on the 2nd level that provides shade most of day. Great for enjoying your morning coffee or for watching the sun go down! The wrap around porch railing has recently been updated to incorporate safety for children and pets to allow you to peacefully take time to take in the views!

Lots to do at our home whether it be boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, or just laying in the hammock. We are in close proximity to New Braunfels and Gruene, TX for daily excursions or to pick up last minute shopping needs.

NOTE: For smaller groups, we would consider renting out just the lower level (2 bedroom/1 bath) that can sleep up to 10 comfortably. Access to all of the same amenities but no access to upper level of the home. Inquire with the owner for pricing and info on this option.

4. Like to grill out? We have a propane/and charcoal grill, plus utensils ready for use.
5. Don't like to grill out? No worries, we have a large spacious fully stocked kitchen, spices included!
6. Got a Boat, or Jet Ski? Bring it! We have space for it. (up to 22' boats)
7. Don't have a boat? No Worries! - You can use our Kayak!
8. Have a pet? Pets are considered with a refundable pet deposit. Let's discuss!
9. Don't know what other entertainment may be in the area? No worries, we're 15 mins from New Braunfels, Tubing, 20 mins from Gruene, TX (Gruene Hall) and 30 mins from San Marcos shopping outlets. + there are wineries, public Golf course and dining available. We'll leave a list for you on the counter.
10. Can't get away from work (or school), or need to bring it with you? No problem, we have high-speed WIFI and plenty of room for you to set up. So, you can get your work done before you go jump in the lake!

Family vacation

We had a great stay. Our pontoon boat fit nicely into the boathouse entrance. I especially liked the separate climate controls for the two floors. Kitchen was beautiful and beds were very comfy.

Amazing getaway!

We had the most amazing stay here with our family! This place is truly a dream. The owners were so responsive and helpful and had everything we would ever need stocked at the house. Perfect for large family!

Beautiful home with two living and kitchen areas making it perfect for large families. Great porch and two docks for both shade and sun. Large upstairs living and dining room had plenty of space for our group of 9. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Such a beautiful home and location. Laid out perfectly for families; ideal for kids, grandkids, plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. The yard shaded with the huge cypress trees, dock for fishing and swimming..couldn't be more perfect! We are already thinking about our stay next summer :) Thank you for sharing your home.

Awesome lakehouse

This was a wonderful trip. The property is great. It has lots of room for parking vehicles. The house is very nice, clean, spacious, and well setup for big groups, very comfortable. The yard is a good size and fenced. The dock setup is also well done, we brought our boat and spent most of our time in the water. Every year we rent a lakehouse and this has been the best to date. This place is very well maintained all around and it shows the owner takes great pride in it. Thank you.

BIG, Beautiful home on the lake

This is a beautiful home. It was spotlessly clean and well-stocked. Our family of 6 had a wonderful time, with lots of room to spread out. The beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything you could imagine needing and we even got to bring our dogs! We spent a lot of time by the waterfront, watching all the boats and wakeboarders go by. There’s a big pit for an outdoor fire (bring your own wood!) and a super comfortable hammock, perfect for naps in the shade. Leah, the owner, was great. She responded immediately when I called or texted.

Woderful house for a family reunion

The Birdnest Lake House is beautiful. As you walk in and up the stairs it welcomes you with a smile and a very peaceful feeling. Fora family reunion it was perfect. A garden for kids to run around in and the dock to jump into the river. Well located for visitor attractions. A beautiful living area and wonderful well stocked kitchen. Sooo many cabinets - we were all very jealous!!!. Our family of 13 slept very comfortably after fun-filled days. This house has so many good points. Thank you Leah

Lovely, spacious lakehouse with responsive owners

The property is lovely. The home was clean, spacious and well-stocked with everything we needed and then some. The owners were very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. We especially liked that there are two common areas to gather, one upstairs and one downstairs, which was perfect for our group. The teenagers hung out downstairs playing games and watching t.v. late into the night while the adults were upstairs cooking, talking and napping. The wraparound porch is a great place to sit and read a book or just watch the world go by. I would highly recommend this property to anyone considering it for a family get away at the lake.

Unforgettable weekend at the Bird's nest lake house.

We truly enjoyed our "Mother's day" weekend in this lovely Lake house . This house is beautiful inside and outside ! So well maintained :). The kitchen, bedrooms , etc. is complete of everything we need . My 85 years old dad keeps on complementing the surroundings . My kids had a blast and doesn't wanna go home . They wanna stay more days ! This is my favorite of all the lake houses that I rented over the years! We are definitely going back . Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us !

Memorable Mother's Day Weekend

Of all the Lake houses that we rented over the years here in Texas, this house exceeds all my expectations! Beautiful inside and out! Very spacious, and comfortable rooms. Kitchen is complete of anything you need for cooking. Plenty of linens and towels. I couldn't ask for more! My girls had a blast at the back yard. They even jump in the lake! My 80 years old dad and mom enjoyed every minute outdoor. We had a truly relaxing weekend! Thank You so much for sharing your house! I would definitely recommend this place. Next time we come back , we'll stay longer !

Sister River trip

We were looking for a place on the water close to the Guadalupe to float the river with my sisters and their kids. This place was PERFECT. There were 12 of us 5 Adults and 7 kids, the sleeping arrangements were perfect, the kids all slept downstairs in the various sleeping quarters, the adults slept upstairs with one adult sleeping in the third bedroom downstairs. The kitchen is very spacious and well appointed, there is a beautiful wrap around porch on the second level where one could enjoy the view of the water first thing in the morning and sip on your coffee. the living room and dinning table were big enough for all of us to gather around and not feel crowded after dinner to talk, play board games and spend time together. The back yard is beautiful, clean, has beautiful grass and is big enough for the kids to run around and play. The kids (and adults) also jumped into the lake off the dock and swam, there is some boat traffic but not enough to keep you from swimming off the dock. We rented a Kayak and made use of the lake off the dock in that manner as well. We drove to the Guadalupe River on our second day to float the river, it was a short 20 minute drive, HEB is a short 15 minute drive as well. In all we had a great time, loved the house and the location. Leah was very attentive and answered all our questions in a timely manner. It was a great experience! We look forward to renting from Leah again to have another sister reunion on the Lake : )

The Bird Nest: Where relaxation isn't a choice, it just happens!

Life got you running in circles? Are you stressed out? Pandemic weary? Then this is your place! We spent an extended weekend here. It was a long overdue mini-vacation with our expanding family and was just what we needed. The Bird Nest is beautiful and feels like home, minus all those pesky projects screaming your name. There is so much to do here! Enjoy the docks for fishing or just sitting and watching boaters go by, or you can take a dip in the water and sit on the floating dock. We enjoyed time around the firepit roasting marshmallows and playing music, and we played many games of ping pong and cornhole. When the weather didn't cooperate, we moved our concert indoors and played board games. We spent a great deal of time on the covered wraparound deck just taking in the beautiful view and sounds of nature. Morning coffee and starting the day from this vantage point was especially relaxing. The large kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need and plenty of room for many helpers. Each bedroom has a white noise device and very comfortable bedding, creating a perfect sleep environment. The house is very spacious and the 2 large living areas providing enough room for everyone to spread out and do their own thing, have multiple group activities or come together as a large group. If you choose to leave and explore the area, there's plenty to do and see. We did venture out to Naegelin's bakery for kolaches and donuts one morning— it's worth the trip! Overall, everything was wonderful. Everyone destressed and relaxed, and enjoyed their time here. Our only regret was that our stay wasn't longer. That's why we will return next year for a full week! Great Stay!!

Birdnest was fantastic!! The home was clean, comfortable and so so cute! This home has everything you need, you simply just show up. The own is a great communicator and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The lake is very nice and relaxing! Everyone in our party was pleased with our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were washed in Tyler Candle co. diva detergent which is my personal favorite - smells so fresh and clean! We would stay here again and even bring the kids, it's definitely kid and adult friendly! Thanks for a great stay!!

Wonderful Lake House

The house was amazing. Exactly what we needed for our smoky reunion of 14 people. Plenty of room for a large group. All of the amenities we needed. And the kayak, paddle board and floats were an added bonus for water fun. The communication with the owner was helpful and they were always quick to respond if we needed anything. Highly recommend this rental.

Amazing Lakefront Property!

We recently stayed at Bird Nest Lake House. I would first like to say you will never find a property manager as helpful as Wendy. Although everything was perfect, and did not have any issues when we arrived, she was very accommodating prior to our arrival. The house was perfect, although I do not feel the pictures did it justice. It is two houses in one, each with it’s own kitchen and living area. We had two families, and this afforded each family a little privacy if they chose. I have rented many times from VRBO in the past, and have never seen a house so completely stocked as this one. It sits on a beautiful part of the lake with a great deck to watch all the lake activities. It has kayaks, floats and life jackets for personal use. Family lazy lake life vacation

Fantastic time, wonderful home. Property Owners were super, responded immediately to our questions or needs. Kids as well as adults enjoyed the lake life living. Definitely will return, already booked our next trip, and highly encourage others to book their next vacation at this property. We were sad to leave. 3. Got kids!? - we have a bunk room, port-a-crib and high chair for your ease - you can travel a little lighter.
4. Like to grill out? We have a propane/and charcoal grill, plus utensils ready for use.
5. Don't like to grill out? No worries, we have a large spacious fully stocked kitchen, spices included!
6. Got a Boat, or Jet Ski? Bring it! We have space for it. (up to 22' boats)
7. Don't have a boat? No Worries! - You can use our Kayak!
8. Have a pet? Pets are considered with a refundable pet deposit. Let's discuss!
9. Don't know what other entertainment may be in the area? No worries, we're 15 mins from New Braunfels, Tubing, 20 mins from Gruene, TX (Gruene Hall) and 30 mins from San Marcos shopping outlets. + there are wineries, public Golf course and dining available. We'll leave a list for you on the counter.
10. Can't get away from work (or school), or need to bring it with you? No problem, we have high-speed WIFI and plenty of room for you to set up. So, you can get your work done before you go jump in the lake!

We are conveniently located on Lake McQueeney, just outside of Seguin, Texas. We are in a quiet, private and relaxing area - yet, we are likely closer than you think!

From San Antonio - we are 38 miles, only 45 min drive.
From Austin - we are 49 miles (to downtown) and only a 60 min drive.
From Houston - we are 167 miles and a quick 2 hr and 20 min drive.
