Historic Bucher House with central location to Gettysburg and Lancaster Amish
Bucher House is located in downtown Hanover within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants, pubs, and boutique shops. Also, 30 minutes to Gettysburg, and an hour from Baltimore's inner harbor, Lancaster County Amish community, or Hershey PA. Bucher House was built in 1828 and contains many period antiques with modern amenities. Please note: This property is located in downtown Hanover and like many row houses, built very close to the main street through town. While this presents many advantages of being close to downtown activities and attractions, it also has some degree of regular street noise. If you are a rather light sleeper, this property may not be suitable. However, 93% of customer reviews do not find this an issue.
Beautiful historic home and outdoor space.
We were back in the Hanover area to visit family and friends; Rob and Penny were excellent hosts and made the stay easy and enjoyable.
We had a beautiful stay. The property is in a very convenient location. Walking distance of a few breweries, dinner locations and a nice little breakfast restaurant. We would definitely stay again.
The state park right down the road has a big lake with plenty of fishing.
Rob the owner was very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful historical home that made an ideal home base for visiting Gettysburg and Lancaster County. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
The house, grounds and parking lot were amazing! Beautifully furnished with period items and comfortable essentials. Within walking distance to the square in Old town Hanover. Will definitely stay again!
The Bucher house was a beautiful stay! We were so delighted by the size of the house as well as all of the historic paraphernalia around the place. A comfortable and very cool stay!
We enjoyed our 2 night stay during a cousins reunion in Gettysburg. Hanover is a quick drive and having a big home and a nice yard was a nice change from staying at a hotel. We invited our cousins to come visit in the afternoon following a guided tour of the battlefields. Our family enjoyed being in a historic home from the same era.
Clean, well appointed rental. We loved browsing through the old books in the library and learning about the history of the area. The hosts were prompt to respond to questions and made us feel very welcomed.
My family and I had a great time at the Bucher house in Hanover. The house has a lot of room and a great yard which was wonderful for our grandson. The kitchen is amazing so if you are there for an event it is perfect. The owner was extremely helpful and very responsive. I would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay at this well maintained historic home. It had a nice side yard with a covered patio and plenty of seats. There was a relaxing fountain going and the kids had fun playing shuffle board. A very nice master bedroom, cozy TV room and very clean bathrooms made us feel at home. The road noise is definitely the only drawback but it is acceptable. Would stay here again if we are back in the area.
The Bucher House worked out well for 7 of us... plenty of space and bathrooms! We went out and joined local family members for most meals but the kitchen is well appointed if needed. Rob was very accommodating.
Roy and Jess were great to work with and I fell in love with the house. I would definitely recommend this home for your family as well as for events. My family stayed here we were close to Gettysburg, shopping, dining, and family who lives in Hanover. I felt right at home!
We met my brother and nephew to have our Christmas and this house had us all mind blown! It was hugeâŠand the history was captivating! We loved exploring all the rooms and looking through all the books in the library. It was a great experience!
We loved staying at the Bucher House. The charm and history was wonderful. Rob was great to deal with and always got back right away to any questions I had and Jess was great. She met us at the house and walked us through explaining everything. The yard was very nice. I know the trees and plants would be even more pretty further into spring and summer. Overall we had a great time!
Super clean and conveniently located. The beds are comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to see hand soaps and towels at all the sinks and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the showers. Clean towels and washcloths were in each room. It was much more like staying at a bed and breakfast by yourself than it was like staying at a rental. Interesting Local decor can be found throughout the home. I enjoyed the library and the artwork. Lovely outdoor seating to relax. The conference room was great for my family members who had to get some work done. There is a convenience store next door if you need to purchase anything you may have forgotten. No ghosts or anything creepy in this home. Lots of good energy. I absolutely loved it and will be back.
We loved the house and grounds which are lovingly maintained and very pleasant. Our experience was marred by the loud road noise that was impossible to ignore. The house is located on a main thoroughfare that is used by semi-trucks, bikers and for some reason, a lot of gravel dump trucks. This made having conversations while enjoying the lovely courtyard difficult. It also interrupted sleep quite early every morning.
I know the owner cannot control the noise and made every attempt to provide a good experience, so I am giving a 4 star rating, but I think guests should know what to expect.
I cannot say enough good about this property. It is spacious, sparkling clean & well furnished. The back yard is beautiful & comfortable. Rob is a great host. He answered all our questions & gave us tips about the area. He is honest in his description of the property & location. The area is beautiful with enough history nearby to keep any civil war buff happy! We will stay again if ever in the area.
The property was gorgeous and very relaxing for our family of seven. We were happy that it was close to Gettysburg, which was the whole reason we were in the area. We had a hard time keeping our 13 month old entertained, he was drawn to literally everything that could have been problematic for him. Iâd plan to bring something to keep him corralled a bit more if we plan to return. Thatâs obviously not an issue with the property, itâs a new toddler issue haha We were so appreciative of the communication and the yard was wonderful to spend time in. We only stayed for one night but I could see this being a great property to spend a vacation at.
