Catskill Mountains, Saugerties, Woodstock, HITS, Kingston, 50 Plus Acres
Fifty Acres of woods and meadows
The proverbial country farmhouse, tucked way back off the road on 50 plus acres of open meadow and mature forest complete with year round stream and walking trails. Secluded setting yet only a few minutes from the village of Saugerties and the NYS Thruway for easy access to NYC or Albany. One level living with a nice chefs kitchen, very comfy living room, two very sweet bedrooms with queen beds and a third laundry room with a futon. Excellent place to call home base while you explore the wonders of Ulster County. You're going to need some time to see the local sites like Minnewaska and Mohonk, not to mention the endless miles of hiking trails here in the Catskills. The eclectic villages of Saugerties and Woodstock are nearby and are full of side walk shops and yummy restaurants. Saugerties is well known for it's many events such as HITS, yearly car shows and the Garlic Festival. Two beautiful ski resorts are nearby called Hunter and Windham and the mighty Hudson River is just to our east. Try to find some time to explore the Walkway over the Hudson and the many mansions on the east side of the Hudson such as Vanderbuilt and Mills. Find time for a meal at the Culinary Institute or the Mohonk Mtn House. Bring your bikes and your walking shoes to explore the countless miles of re-claimed rail trails here. Plan on some long days out and about followed by some great meals and some r+r time at home base. Better add a couple days to the plans!!
Comfortable house and lovely yard. Great place for my puppies. Even had some entertainment watching the animals at the adjacent farm. Easy drive from HITS.
Had an amazing stay at this beautiful home in Saugerties. Everything was perfect for a comfortable get away from the city. Very clean home with open kitchen/living room, two beautifully decorated bedrooms and incredible spa bathroom! Will definitely visit again!
We (my husband and 3 small kids + dog) had an awesome stay at this house! It was a great getaway location, close proximity to some fun hikes! The house was very clean and up to date and had everything we needed. When we left my 5 year old son was already asking when we could return!
We loved staying at the Saugerties farmhouse while our daughters competed at the HITS horse show. The property was very quiet and private and it was an easy 10 minute drive to the horse show and downtown Saugerties. I loved the decor - the kitchen and bathroom have very nice high end appliances and finishes. Bruce was very helpful and checked in periodically to ask if we needed anything and to make sure everything was ok. We will definitely stay here again when we return to HITS!
To say that I loved my weekend stay at Ron's property feels like an understatement. The house was well-equipped (seriously, everything you need is there), spacious, comfortable, and CLEAN. It was an easy 5 min to town, and Woodstock, Kingston, and Hudson were in close proximity too. My dog loved sunning himself on the porch in the morning - something he just doesn't get to do in Brooklyn. Also, the property looked particularly beautiful as the trees and flowers had already started to bloom. I have already recommended Ron's place to friends. Thanks for having me, I'd come back in a heartbeat!
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The check in was easy, the kitchen has high end appliances and everything you need to cook. Saugerties downtown is close by and has a lot of nice restaurants and cute shops. The property manager is really responsive and accommodating. Even though there is only one bathroom, it's a spacious one. The shower was great. The bed in the second bedroom isn't very comfortable unfortunately. Also, the neighboring farm dogs barked a lot. Well into the evening (until midnight one night) and very early in the morning (at 430am one morning) which was pretty disruptive - an FYI for light sleepers.
My husband, two little dogs and I came from NYC to get away from the hustle and bustle and spend Thanksgiving in the country. This house and setup was perfect. It has a big beautiful kitchen that is stocked and a pleasure to cook in. The bedrooms were comfy and cozy with great bedding and weâre decorated really nicely. There is a âTV roomâ with Netflix built in - and this room has a futon and was fun to veg out in with blankets and pillows, which they provide a ton of. It was freezing while we were there so we didnât do much but hang in the house, less taking the dogs out and a few short walks, which was just fine bc the house was so comfortable. Weâd like to come back when itâs warmer to do some hiking. There seemed to be some trails behind the house up the mountain that weâre intriguing, but too wet from the recent snow to really enjoy this time. There is a little family farm down the hill from the house you see out the windows of the living room and bedrooms, and they have a couple cows, a chicken house as well as two sweet dogs who watch over the animals.. I loved this feature.
A great little vaca in the Catskills. Already looking forward to another visit!
First of all, Bruce is the best! He kept in touch with me, without being intrusive, from my first question about the rental through my last dayâs stay. I canât say enough about this wonderful, beautifully designed and decorated house. If you want privacy and beautiful views out of every window, this is the house for you. I realize this is starting to sound like someone paid me to write this. But, honestly, especially after being cooped up as we all have been since March, the house, the setting, the adorable town of Saugerties, was exactly what my husband and I needed. My son and his girlfriend arrived later in the week for 1 night, and the first thing she wanted to do was take a bath in the soaking tub! My son took the initiative to get a fire going in the fire pit set up away from the house at the foot of the mountains, our backyard. Again, please donât take this as one of those fake Yelp reviews. My name is Carrie and Iâm happy to respond to anyone that wants any recommendations about restaurants or hikes.
Bruce (the property manager) had let me know about this property before it was listed when another one of his properties that my wife and I had inquired about was booked. He mentioned that the owners were still finalizing some small things to make the house truly VRBO friendly, but I didn't even notice anything missing at the time. In the pictures posted, I now see a kitchen table and some additional wall art were added - makes the place feel even homier than it was when we stayed.
While the inside of the house was great - the kitchen and bathroom (that soaking tub is huge!) are really amazing and the pics don't do justice - the property is massive and you could spend a whole weekend just exploring without leaving the land. There are some really nice trails on the property that traverse through the wooded areas on the property and you're a quick drive to the many trails that the Catskills and State Forests have to offer. The property actually is right next to where a neighbor keeps a chicken coop and a cow or two, but you don't hear them throughout the night at all, and it's really nice (being from NYC), to be able to look our your window and see a cow. Pro Tip: You can walk down the driveway, buy a dozen of those chickens' eggs whenever you want to cook up some delicious breakfast and then sit on the front porch with your food and coffee watching the hummingbirds fly right up to the bushes that are next to you!
Don't be fooled when you're driving up the driveway to the house -- although you see a couple of homes on the dirt road/driveway up off the main road, once you arrive at this property, you can't see any others and feel as if you are really by yourself to explore all the land this property has to offer!
Fantastic property that enhanced an exciting family graduation celebration weekend! The house is very well cared for and updated, super clean, and in a great off main road location that makes it very relaxing. The kitchen is very well laid out, large, and stocked with everything you need to cook. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evenings and mornings. A really fantastic place for a family stay!
We had a wonderful stay at the property for a long weekend that was part business trip and part vacation. We even got to watch some wild turkeys roaming around while we were there.
This was a great house in a great location. It sits on a beautiful rural property but is 2 miles from town. From this spot, it is easy to get to great restaurants, boutique and gallery shopping, historical sights, or some awesome hiking trails.
The house was very clean, had an amazing kitchen and bathroom... and comfortable beds as well. From the bald eagles and hawks flying overhead to the chickens in the yard, it was wonderfully bucolic and relaxing. It was a great place to spend a week of vacation!
This is an immaculately maintained house on a very large property adjacent to a working farm. Our group (two couples and two toddlers) found the house particularly child-friendly - one floor, few corners or sharps to bump into, very little thatâs breakable, some toddler sized chairs and items on site.
The check in process was very smooth, and the owner was very accommodating as we adjusted our arrival and departure times.
The home is well situated for outings; we were able to get to parks in Saugerties, Woodstock and Kingston very quickly.
The only edit Iâd make to the listing - which was not noteworthy for us but might be for others - is that the watch dogs on the adjacent property are very dedicated to their work and sometimes bark well into the night/early morning. As a result, it might be useful to have a white noise machine available (we brought some by coincidence because of kiddos) or to note that guests should bring earplugs or a sound machine if they are light sleepers.
We would absolutely come back here. I imagine that itâs especially beautiful in the fall or late spring.
My partner and I came for a quick (2hr) trip from NYC and loved this property. The kitchen is immaculate and the soaking tub is to die for. The property is perfectly positioned between Saugrities, Kingston and Woodstock.
Our Frenchie had a blast too
