This oceanfront luxury cottage is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a small family holiday. Salish Sunrise Cottage is situated in a mature forest and features views of Secretary Island to the southeast and the Olympic mountains to the south. For experienced kayakers or SUP enthusiasts with their own gear, the beach is easily accessed and offers a good place to launch and begin exploring. Chairs and lounges down on the beachside patio as well as the propane fireplace make the outdoors all that much more inviting.
This was the perfect getaway for our week long honeymoon! Gorgeous views, clean property, and great location on the island! (We were 7 minutes away from our fishing charter, 10 min from groceries, 25-30 min from our hiking spots, and 20-30 min from amazing beaches!!) 5 STARS!!! (This last comment I have is meant to be of help to anyone with mobility challenges: the driveway is loose gravel and slick sometimesâŠ. Guest parking for the VRBO is at the top of the driveway and the cottage is down below. My husband and I shared a good laugh carrying our heavy luggage down to the cottage on the steep gravel driveway on day 1, haha.) We would certainly go back to this property!
Pictures don't do this place justice. Such a beautiful setting, very relaxing, and comfortable. Close to town in case you need to grab groceries and close to hiking and beaches. Thank you for sharing with us.
Amazing stay! Property is one in a thousand! We are seasoned travellers and have seen many places. If I could give score above 10 I would gladly do it! Clean, equipped and peaceful. Landscape amazing. Spent last two days at the patios next to the ocean. Such a jewel! Thank you guys for everything! Will definitely return.
The view is excellent, but it's not as private as the pictures lead you to believe as the main house is quite close to the cottage. As other reviews have mentioned, the driveway is a real problem. Guests park at the top, walk down 3 stone steps to get to the steep gravel driveway. If you have any mobility issues at all, this is not the place for you. That said, we really enjoyed Sooke. All the locals were very nice. Since there isn't a binder or guide book in the cabin with local recommendations, here are some of the things we enjoyed doing while in Sooke:1) We rented peddle kayaks and saw a pod of orcas go through Sooke Harbor.2) We rented e-bikes and rode on the Galloping Goose trail. 3) We went for a hike in Sooke Potholes park.4) Our favorite restaurants were Route 14 and Stickleback Oceanfront Cider & Taphouse.5) We shopped for groceries at Village Food Market and bought beer, ciders, and wine at Castle Beer & Wine Store.
We stayed here for 4 days in July. The location is good, the view spectacular, the landscaping excellent, the house was stocked. However, getting to the cabin from you car is a task. You park your car at the top of the hill and are expected to drag your wheeled luggage down a steep hill (50% angle) on gravel to a path leading to the cabin- gravel again. So this applies to getting groceries and taking garbage out. Now we are 82 & 76 yrs which made it difficult for us as we didn't want to fall. If you are 20 no problem perhaps. As a result we only ate breakfast there- too much hassle getting groc. there. The driveway could be asphalted with drainage so it would be so much more accessible. A big tire wagon could be left for the guests to get their stuff down the hill. I called the owner and he did let us drive part way down the driveway to help get the luggage down.
Beautifully appointed cottage. Fully equipped kitchen & laundry. Amazing views of the Juan de Fuca/Salish Sea! Very peaceful and not too far from downtown Victoria. Only complaints: walking down the gravel driveway/stone steps which was steep and a little unstable to carry our luggage. And the bed seemed small for two but it was cozy.
Salish Sunrise Cottage was an amazing rental. Clean, private, the grounds/landscaping was beautiful! We especially loved sitting in the hot tub in the evenings looking out towards the strait and sitting in the patio chairs looking for wildlife in the mornings. We saw sea lions, bald eagles, and an otter while sitting on those chairs. Absolutely beautiful views! Close to town but far enough that you felt like you were in the in your own private space. Highly recommend this place.
The views from the unit are stunning. It was a joy to wake up every morning and open the sliding doors to hear the ocean. Couldnât have asked from a better stay!
This is our second time staying in Sooke. This property is beautifully landscaped, and the view is breathtaking. It is a little close to the main house, but, we really didn't see the other people and they ended up leaving a few days into our stay. The cottage is very nice and had everything that we needed. We couldn't get any local stations on the TV, but we were able to connect to Netflix which was perfectly fine. I knocked off a star on the cleanliness because a couple of the bath towels were not clean. Otherwise, the owner maintains a stunning property. We enjoyed the hot tub daily. The cover was super easy to maneuver. (which hasn't been our experience with other properties in the past). The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet both day and night. It was easy to adjust the temperature (A/C). The walk from the parking to the cottage is a little steep, but well maintained and graveled. Overall, this is a lovely beachfront cottage in a wonderful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.
Such a beautiful modern cottage with all the amenities and comfort you could ask for. Being right on the water provides a spectacular view for sunrises and wildlife spotting. Would love to have been able to stay for longer.
Beautiful property. Everything was great. Saw otters on the beach. The sounds and smells of the ocean with the patio door open is a special experience in itself.
My wife and I had a great getaway weekend at the cottage. Itâs in a great location, has an amazing view, and great amenities! We would come back again for sure!
This place was absolutely stunning. The view and surroundings were beautiful. Being so close to the ocean and watching the sea lions was just so lovely. The house was very clean, well stocked, and the bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed this 5 star place. If you have any mobility issues it may be difficult to get your suitcases up and down the hill.
