A ground-up modern home in Cherrywood where the living room opens to a resort-style deck, minutes from downtown Austin and Franklin Barbecue.



Some homes photograph well and live small. This one does the opposite. Dream On is a ground-up modern build on a quiet East-Central Austin street, and its best trick is how completely it opens up. Slide the great-room glass wall aside and the kitchen, the dining table for ten, and the covered pergola deck become one long, connected space, with a gas fire pit, a covered outdoor kitchen, and a hot tub waiting under a canopy of mature oaks. You are five minutes from Franklin Barbecue and downtown, and it still feels like a treehouse.



THE HOUSE



The main level is a single flowing room finished in stone floors, warm walnut, and white walls, lit by floor-to-ceiling glass on every side. The chef's kitchen sits at one end around a marble waterfall island that seats six, backed by a built-in stainless refrigerator, a gas cooktop, double wall ovens, and a wine refrigerator built into the island. A dining table for ten anchors the center under a linear chandelier, with a wet bar close at hand.



A second living room opens beneath floating walnut shelves and a wood-burning fireplace, with its own wet bar and a stone feature wall, giving the group a second place to gather. Upstairs, a loft lounge holds a Super Pac-Man arcade cabinet, a smart TV, and a sofa that folds out to sleep two. Four king suites are spread across both levels, each with its own bath, and the primary adds a rooftop terrace and a spa bath with a soaking tub, a walk-in shower, and a double vanity.



THE OUTDOOR LIVING COMPLEX

Downtown Austin is 10 minutes, the University of Texas and Moody Center are 7 to 8, and Lady Bird Lake, Rainey Street, and 6th Street are all within about 12. Barton Springs Pool is 15 minutes, Circuit of the Americas is 20, the Hancock Center HEB is 5, and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is 15 minutes out.
