à propos de cet hébergement
Bees Knees - King Suite, Sauna & Cold Plunge
Hot tub, campfire & big mountain views from our garden-level king bed suite just 5-minutes from downtown Nelson. Play board games, book a wood fired sauna experience (+$50), or just relax and enjoy a beverage overlooking the mountains.
The self-contained suite caters to families & couples that are on an early-to-bed, early-to-rise program as our family lives above the space. If you're looking for something more secluded, check out our Bees Knees in the Trees Tiny Home. You'll love it here!
The space:
The Bees Knees in the Trees Suite is a private main-floor suite in our home. There is one luxurious Silk and Snow king bed and two fold-down full twin beds, suitable for kids & teenagers... or adults who don't mind reliving childhood!
The suite is approximately 500sqf and looks out over gardens, a large stone fire pit and the mountain valley beyond. You'll have lots of homey comforts including board games, books, comfy robes, an electric fireplace, and all the cookware and kitchen essentials you'll need to make meals. This includes a full fridge, stove, oven, kettle, French pressâbut no microwave or TV because it's Nelson! Or, try out some of Nelson's famous restaurants.
You're just 25 mins from Whitewater Ski Resort and mere minutes away from Morning Mountain during the mountain bike season, including the graded, family friendly "Fairly High" trail - 100% amazing ride, up or down.
After your mountain adventures, you can hop in the newly renovated rain shower, featuring hippie-friendly soap, shampoo and conditioners, and enjoy the heated slate bathroom floor.
Then, you can relax in to hot tub located around the corner off our deck - just let us know when and you'll have it all to yourselves to soak in the view.
For a unique, truly Kootenay spa experience, you can book our unforgettable wood fired sauna for just $50 per visit. There's even a built up natural creek cold plunge that runs November-June for the brave-hearted.
You'll get a travel guides of the local area, magazines and useful resources to help you make the most of your time here in Nelson. You're going to love it!
Guest access:
We are 5 minutes' drive (or a steep bike ride) from downtown Nelson.
Nelson is a mountain town, so you'll want 4WD and/or good winter tires from October to April as our driveway can be icy.
Our road is plowed and sanded (and is much less gnarly than a lot of driveways in Nelson), but it is fairly steep and can be very slippery in certain winter conditions.
The suite is accessible up three steps from our front garden.
We are just outside of the city limits nestled on Morning Mountain.
We love it as we're super close to everything, but we can still have camp fires... and our water is UV filtered directly from our mountain spring! (Fires are banned in town and their water tastes like chlorine, bleh). That said, you'll have to pretty badass to bike or walk home from town as we're uphill.
Other things to note:
We have two well-behaved kids (10&14) plus a cat upstairs who occasionally gets the zoomies.
We're rural, so occasionally the neighbours will start up a quad later in the morning or chop firewood, which can be noisy. You can hear the train once a day but it's way in the distance. There are helicopters around during ski and fire seasons but not when you'd want to be sleeping.
The suite isn't for those looking to party, boom loud music or movies after 10pm, and if you're affected by any sounds of footsteps, best to look for another space.
While the space is not primarily set up for infants or pets, we are open to inquiries! Frequent family visitors have pet allergies so there is an extra pet cleaning fee. Please confirm that you've read the description and house rules before booking with an infant or pet.
That said, we'll provide earplugs and the creek is an amazing natural white noise generator from Nov to June - 99% of the time it's super peaceful but we want to give you the heads up in case you're in the lucky 1%!
