**Detailed Description:**
Welcome to The Salty Dog — a brand new 2025 home nestled in the wild, unspoiled 4x4 section of Carova Beach on the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina. With four bedrooms, three and a half baths, a private swimming pool, and sweeping ocean views from two levels of wraparound decking, this is the Carova vacation your family has been dreaming of.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to reach The Salty Dog — and that's exactly what keeps this stretch of beach so special. No traffic, no crowds, just wide open Atlantic shoreline, star-filled skies, and the famous Corolla wild horses that frequently graze nearby. The Salty Dog sits approximately 6.5 miles up the 4x4 beach, as far from the hustle of everyday life as you can get.
**The Home**
Spread across three levels with 2,061 square feet, The Salty Dog sleeps up to 8 guests comfortably. The top floor king suite features an ensuite bath and private deck access — wake up to ocean views and the sound of the surf before heading up to the bright, open great room with incredible Atlantic vistas. The fully stocked kitchen with granite countertops and island seating is ready for multiple chefs, and the screened-in porch just off the kitchen is the perfect spot for morning coffee with the ocean breeze.
On the second level you'll find two queen bedrooms with deck access (one with ensuite bath), plus a fun bunk room with a triple twin set — great for kids. A full laundry room rounds out this level.
**Outside**
The private pool is open mid-May through end of September. Two levels of decking offer incredible Atlantic views, outdoor furniture, a charcoal BBQ grill, outdoor shower, and beach chairs for five. Two beach parking passes are included.
**Pets Welcome**
The Salty Dog welcomes up to two small/medium dogs (restrictions on age, weight, and breed apply). A per-pet fee and refundable security deposit are required. No cats please.
**Short Stays Available**
Three-night minimum stays are available in the spring and late fall — perfect for a quick beach escape that won't break the bank!
Linens and towels provided. No smoking. No graduation groups or events. Parking at the house is free and unlimited.

We had a wonderful stay at this beach house, The Salty Dog! The home was exceptionally clean and felt like it was in brand new condition, which made settling in easy and comfortable (which we haven't always experienced in the past at other beach house's). The kitchen was well-equipped with most of what we needed for preparing meals, which came in handy as my brother and sister-in-law cooked up some amazing dishes (I helped a little, too!).The location was ideal—close enough to the beach to hear the waves, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded. We especially loved the private pool, which we used almost every day. The screened-in section of the deck was our favorite hangout spot—it kept the bugs out and provided the perfect space to relax and enjoy the ocean air.One of the most memorable parts of our trip was seeing wild horses every single day. It added such a unique touch to our time there that you probably cannot experience anywhere else. Overall, this beach house was a perfect balance of comfort, nature, and relaxation. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet Outer Banks escape!

The location was amazing, and we immediately felt at home. Waking up each morning to watch the wild horses—and even seeing them on the beach a couple of days—was such a unique experience. This was our first trip to Carova, and it definitely won’t be our last.The power went out one morning, but we simply packed up and headed to the beach for the day. By the time we got back, everything was up and running again, so it didn’t affect our trip much at all.The pool was a huge bonus, especially on days when the ocean was too rough for the kids. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing Carova getaway. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this beach house! The listing was exactly as described, and honestly, even better in person. The house was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had plenty of space for our family to spread out and relax. The pool was a huge hit after long days at the beach, and being just a few rows back from the ocean gave us the perfect balance of easy beach access and a peaceful setting.One of the coolest parts of the trip was seeing the wild horses right in the yard several times throughout the week. That alone made the experience unforgettable! The views from the house were beautiful, and we loved spending mornings with coffee on the deck and evenings winding down after a day in the sand.The property management made everything easy, and check-in and check-out were seamless. We never had any issues during our stay.We spent our week exploring the 4x4 beaches, collecting sea glass and shells, visiting the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, and enjoying great local seafood. There was always something to do, but we also loved simply relaxing at the house.This was the perfect place for our annual family vacation, and we made so many memories that we'll be talking about for years. We would absolutely recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing Outer Banks getaway, and we'd love to come back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had the best stay here for our yearly family beach vacation! The house is beautiful and was very clean. Even being three rows back from the beach, the views were amazing. One of our favorite parts was seeing the wild horses come right through the yard a few different times during the week - it was such a cool experience! The pool was perfect for relaxing after the beach. We made so many great memories with our family here, and it's definitely a trip we'll always remember. We'd absolutely stay here again!
