Montville's PREMIER Wedding Accommodation
"Havana House" is a stunning, brand-new, luxurious retreat designed for families and small groups. This exceptional property has been purpose-built to provide the ultimate hinterland getaway for all!
Close to Montville, and next to Spicers Clovelly, it's perfect for a weekend escape, a memorable holiday, or to prepare for that special event.
With exceptional designer features, it boasts a host of fabulous indoor and outdoor areas for groups to enjoy, and intimate spaces for couples to reconnect.
THE PROPERTY:
'Havana House' is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom boutique retreat, set on half an acre of landscaped gardens, manicured lawns and terraced areas, beside a koala corridor and overlooking serene bushland featuring a permanent underground spring. It is conveniently located just 800m from Montville shops and restaurants, and next door to Spicers Clovelly wedding venue, and the award-winning Long Apron Restaurant.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The property has an array of "added-extras" to indulge families, groups, couples or wedding parties with a memorable hinterland experience.
SORRY NO PETS: Our close proximity next to a dedicated koala corridor and sensitive nature area, means that pets are unfortunately unable to stay at the premises.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY: Havana House luxury retreat is designed to accomodate up to 12 guests, across four Queen bedrooms and a specially designed bunk room.
BEDROOM FEATURES: Each of the 4 x Queen bedrooms has a dedicated make-up desk, with specialised lighting and a full-length mirror, so individuals can get dressed, do hair and make-up in the privacy of their room, without having to jostle for space in the bathroom. Each room also has direct access to the outdoors.
BUNK ROOM: This cosy space is a great place for kids and 'kids-at-heart!' With 4 single beds, it doubles as a chill-out zone with a tv, books and games to keep younger guests entertained for hours, or where adult guests can relax.
BATHROOMS: There are 3 full beautifully appointed bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotions provided for your convenience.
DINING and LIVING SPACES:
The hub of the home is the curved stone island bench in the large modern kitchen, that is fully-equipped with quality appliances and cooking facilities. Adjacent is a contemporary dining and conversation nook with integrated bench seating for casual gatherings.
The open plan living space incorporates a lounge area complete with stone encased fireplace and tv, as well as a dedicated dining area that is ideal to host a fancy dinner party.
OUTDOOR DINING: A large undercover outdoor verandah overlooking the terraced property is the perfect place for outdoor dining and gatherings. A patio setting and reclining chairs on the front verandah are ideal for a morning cuppa or afternoon wine.
AIR AND WATER QUALITY: The fresh air and cool creeks are a huge drawcard of the Hinterland region - but not many expect it inside their accommodation as well. We have installed a premium water filtration system throughout the house and across the property, utilising the very latest nano-technology for water purity; while the home's ducted heating and cooling system is highly-advanced to eliminate allergens, pollutants and odours, ensuring premium air quality within the home.
ENTERTAINMENT:
Fancy a game of boules, cricket or croquet on the manicured lawns? We have a host of outdoor games to create lasting memories with family and friends.
Or maybe you'd prefer to laze on a sunbed beanbag overlooking the property, under the umbrella with a good book?
The firepit is a great spot to warm up, toast marshmallows and share some tall stories with friends and family.
RESTAURANTS:
If you don't feel like cooking, award-winning restaurant "The Long Apron" is right next door, or head into nearby Montville for pizza, pub fare, or a coffee and cake. "Secrets on the Lake" is a fabulous hidden gem that's a short 5 min drive, and the nearby "Flame Hill Winery" is great for an afternoon tipple.
HISTORY:
Havana House is steeped in rich hinterland history.
The home is built upon the croquet lawn of the first guesthouse established in the Hinterland region.
'Elston' was a Grand Queenslander, built in the late 1800s, that became a popular destination for holiday-makers from the city, soldiers on leave from war, politicians and diplomats.
A tennis court, the croquet pitch and a swimming pool constructed at the base of waterfalls (at the rear of the property) were huge drawcards.
In the late 1950's, a fierce fire raged through the area, during which the Guesthouse sadly burnt to the ground.
All that remains is a small outhouse, pillars of the front fence - and a pecan tree that was planted especially for guests to enjoy it's produce whilst they played croquet on the lawn.
Today, the 130 year old tree majestically towers over the rear lawn of 'Havana House', adorned with lanterns that light up at night as a testament to the rich history of this beautiful property. Each Autumn the tree is amass with pecans, ready for for our guests to enjoy.

OUR STORY:
Hi, we’re John and Jo – and together with our four sons, live on the spectacular Sunshine Coast in Queensland. We share an intense passion for not only our family, but also bringing old character homes, brimming with charm and history, back to life. We have renovated and re-imagined 26 properties over the past three decades.
John a carpenter-by-trade, grew up on beautiful Magnetic Island, which influences many of our designs. Relaxed and tropical elements, like verandahs, fretwork and balustrades often feature prominently in our projects.
Jo, a tv news presenter and country girl at-heart, has an intense passion for interiors, architecture and landscapes. She conceptualises the home and garden design, drafts plans, and oversees the fit-out and furnishings.
Each of our sons have shared in our renovation journey and helped out along the way – whilst Flynn, our third son, works alongside us as an apprentice carpenter, honing his craft.

CREATING THE DREAM:
Havana House has been the collaboration of our family to bring what was an old dilapidated country cottage – back to life.
For 9 months, including three months of unrelenting downpours, we worked tirelessly to create our dream.
It is now such a special place, in a beautiful location, where our family and friends love to gather and create lasting memories and where guests can relax and enjoy all that the stunning Sunshine Coast has to offer.

AN ENDURING PAST ...
Havana House is rich in history, standing where the croquet lawn of the Hinterland’s very first guesthouse once lay.
The original guesthouse, ‘Elston,’ was a grand Queenslander built in the late 1800s. It quickly became a sought-after retreat for city holidaymakers, soldiers on leave, as well as politicians and diplomats.
With attractions like a tennis court, a croquet pitch, and a swimming pool built into rocks at the base of waterfalls (at the rear of the property), Elston drew visitors from far and wide.
Tragically, a fierce fire in the late 1950s destroyed the beloved guesthouse.
Today, Havana House stands proudly on that same croquet lawn, ready to create new memories for a fresh generation of guests.
MOVING INTO THE FUTURE...
All that remains of the iconic guesthouse is the posts of the front gate, a small outhouse and this magestic Pecan tree that was planted 130 years ago so guests could enjoy it’s produce whilst they played croquet on the lawn.
Today, the tree towers over the rear lawn of ‘Havana House’, and each Autumn it is amass with pecans, ready for the next generation of guests to enjoy.
