- Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and snow tires are recommended in the winter months to access the property
- Your safety matters. Awesome place to stay near Sugarbush

We did a quick ski weekend trip with friends and stayed at Matt’s place. Everything was perfect from the hot tub, sitting by the wood stove and comfy beds. Such a unique house - can’t wait to come back!

Cozy VT home

We stayed at The Roxbury over Thanksgiving week. The house is cozy and rustic yet very well-appointed and not lacking in modern amenities. It comfortably slept all our family and provided ample space and a great kitchen for our Thanksgiving dinner. We had a great time.

Thank you guys for being great guests! You were unlucky enough to enjoy our place during a rare deep freeze in December! We usually see this kind of weather in January and usually not so sustained. I am actually at the house right now keeping the stove cranked and working on that master drain. You guys got the full VT experience! Thank you for being cool folks and for the nice review! great escape, wonderful place and beautiful setting

We just loved our time at the Roxbury. It is a very pretty yet comfortable house with all the amenities you could ask for. So quiet and peaceful. I recommend it 100%. Would love to go back some time.

Great house! Just what you think of when imaging a Vermont mountain vacation house.

The house was perfect for us - a group of three couples looking to get together for a long weekend. The house was very clean and had a great living room and kitchen. The owners were very helpful and prompt in answering our questions leading up to our trip. The house is nice and secluded, but just a short 20-minute ride to Sugarbush.

Didn’t want to leave!

Stayed here with a small group of friends for a short ski weekend at Sugarbush. The house was incredibly comfortable and the owners were very welcoming. The owners did have very specific care instructions for the house but everything was communicated clearly and was easy to follow. The house itself is beautiful, spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds with lots of linens. The hot tub is a lifesaver after a long day on the slopes and the wood burning stove is divine. Staying here was an absolute treat!

Awesome Property!

We had a group of 12 family & friends stay at this place for a wedding just down the street at the Tennis Camp. There's really only enough beds for 8, but we made do. The owners are super helpful and very easy to work with. They left us plenty of towels and stuff for our group. The kitchen and bar are well-stocked. It was the perfect place to have a large gathering. Some of us hadn't seen each in years so we really wanted to have a place where we could all sit around, drink wine, and catch up! If that's what you're looking for, this is an awesome place to stray!

cozy ski chalet

We LOVED our stay in Roxbury! Matthew and Rachel are terrific hosts and everything was wonderful! From the amazingly comfortable beds to the plentiful towels for the hot tub. Everything was in working order and couldn't have been easier. We had PLENTY of space to spread out and we didn't feel confined! There were 3 full bedrooms in addition to the sleeping loft, which our kids loved. AND we could bring our dog, which was priceless. We loved the Xbox and work-out room! There were plentiful supplies for cooking! We were very close to Sugarbush as well as close to great restaurants. We will surely be back!

If we could have designed the perfect guest these folks were them! They treated our house as if it was their own - which is all we ever ask any of our wonderful guests. They were even kind enough to help out with the laundry as we had a very quick turnaround due to a nice big snowstorm. We hope to have these folks back anytime they wish to come! Great experience!

What a place!

This house did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in the door it felt like home. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the space, including the library, kitchen, grill, video games, workout space, wood stove and of course, the hot tub. Our kids, 10 & 7, loved everything about this home as well. We especially loved the privacy and beautiful views from every window. We were also taken by the town of Roxbury and the Roxbury Country Store. The detailed and easy to follow instructions provided were spot on. Many thanks to the Brace family for sharing this special property. We fell in love with VT all over again and hope to have the opportunity to rent this one of a kind place once again.

Cozy and comfortable

This was our second trip for a family vacation/ski trip and the Roxbury did not disappoint. We absolutely love the home. It is well equipped with plenty of seating for everyone in the open living room. Kitchen is pleasantly spacious with a very nice bar area/peninsula to allow for easy conversation with your guests. We cooked breakfast and dinner daily with ease. The hottub is fabulous!!! Especially after a day of skiing. We even took a snow day off and thoroughly enjoyed watching Netflix and enjoying the home. It really makes you feel like you're on vacation when you watch someone clear the snow from the driveway while you are hanging in the hottub. No shoveling here :) There are plenty of linens and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. Matt is such a pleasant and responsive host and I'm looking forward to our next visit.

We really appreciate our repeat renters! These wonderful people came for a week of family fun at The Roxbury last year and decided to repeat it this year! We keep talking about the "vibe" at The Roxbury with all our guests and these people truly get the experience we are offering. Dirty and smelly

When we had looked at the pictures and the description of the rental property in Roxbury, we were very excited to add this experience to the list of USMC/Vietnam reunions. In the many years of staying at hotels and vacation rentals across the US, we have had the expectation that the unit will be at it's best condition and ready for a problem free stay. Unfortunately, that was not our experience in Roxbury. Upon entering the home, we immediately noticed a very bad musty smell that was in every room. We did leave the home for several hours and upon our return, the smell was still very strong. We got ready and went to bed. None of us slept. We got up at 11:30pm and found a hotel to stay in. Although the smell alone was a major deterrent to a comfortable stay, there are many other issues that made it impossible for anyone to stay in the home. The following issues are in addition to the odor problem: The entire home is dirty, and was obvious to all that is was not cleaned prior to our visit. The carpets were not vacuumed. The sheets on one of the guest beds was not clean. In the same bedroom, the closet had a one foot square of carpet that was cut out with rodent droppings on the wood sub-floor. The lighting in the master bathroom did not work and the lighting in the entire home is inadequate. In summary, we rented the home in good faith expecting a clean, comfortable and inviting None of these were apparent.

We have professional cleaners.The carpets were vacuumed and the bed linens were clean - as they always are.The entire home is not dirty and we do not agree with that statement at all. When these guests checked in it had been over 90 degrees for the previous three days.The house had been shut for a few weeks so it may have had a musty smell.This is not an unusual occurrence in any home that has been closed up for a period of time.These guests were upset that we did not have central air conditioning (we never said we did), complained that the house was "hot" and never mentioned a smell to our caretaker, Eric.They neglected to open any of the 4 sliding doors in the living room or the many windows we have to air or cool the place.Eric even suggested they open two different sliding doors to create a cross breeze and the house would cool down very nicely.He did not detect any odor. These folks are fixated on a small piece of sub-floor in a closet!We do get mice occasionally (it is VERMONT after all) and told them that if we (or Eric)had been notified that it would have been cleaned immediately.No one contacted us. The lighting in the master bathroom was indeed out as we discovered the following weekend.Light bulbs do burn out.Again, no one notified us of this. There are plenty of extra light bulbs in the house and if someone had contacted us that would have been rectified as well. We feel that there are many lights along with many windows for natural light and the lighting is just fine.It seems that it was bright enough for these guests to see on the inside of a bedroom closet with no problem? These guests were unhappy and notified us after they had supposedly left the property.We still had our cleaners go in and do all the linens and inspect the property as we could not verify this.They were given their deposit and half their stay back as per our rental agreement. They contacted their credit card company and told them the transaction "never happened" resulting in the ENTIRE STAY to be charged back to them. To date, they have received 1.5 TIMES the amount of the original stay. They have kept our refund AND the entire refund on their credit card. We rented to these individuals in good faith expecting honest individuals - obviously this was not the case. We have had NO complaints from anyone before or after this stay. We want our renters to enjoy our home. Some people forget that this is actually a home and not the Ritz.
