Family Tree- when you need that special space for the whole Family !
Sometimes you just need that extra space . The main level features : deluxe kitchen ,dining room , 2 balconies, 3 bedrooms & 2 full bathrooms. The top floor is more focused on game lounge: 2 bedrooms , separate living room w/pool table & 1.5 baths Highly desirable area of Myrtle Beach right next to family kingdom and 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. Located in a super cute building with family owned storefronts on ground level.
We originally booked Family Tree. However, a few days before our trip, we were notified that the unit had been double-booked and were offered alternative, âcomparableâ accommodations.
Unfortunately, for us we decided to take the host up on this offer. Let's just say based on both reviews of Family Tree and our own experience, these accommodations were far from comparable. The unit had a broken window shade, a dirty mattress, what appeared to be melted ice cream all over the outside sidewalk and entryway, and was generally not very clean throughout.
Family Tree has five reviews online. At the time of writing this review, three reviewers who actually stayed there gave it a 10/10. However, there are two VRBO reviewers of this property who had the exact same experience we did: the unit was double-booked. This makes me wonder why this unit was still available during peak summer season. Is there a bait-and-switch going on?
Furthermore, I felt unsafe. Most importantly, I was concerned for the group of 14-year-old girls I had with me. While the outside door did âlock,â it could be easily opened with a light push. On Friday night, I hardly slept due to the amount of yelling and confrontational arguments happening outside.
While the host was uber quick to respond to texts offering alternative accommodations, they have been unresponsive to my text outlining the above issues and asking for a partial refund.
At the check-in time of 5pm on Friday, I asked for codes, and the property manager then alerted me that this property was double booked. I booked it months ago. VRBO provided no solution, the property manager did not research the area to help find us a 2 night accommodation, and VRBO actually dropped the call and never called me back. Leaving me to start over at their phone tree. We ended up staying 25 miles away from this location, and 25 miles from where we booked all of our activities. Overall, this could have been a minor inconvenience, but due to a lack of effort by VRBO and the property manager, I was left to fend for myself. Nothing has been done to make this "right". No effort whatsoever has been made by VRBO or the property manager to develop a loyal patron for future trips. The cost of our vacation increased, we stayed in a house 25 miles from Myrtle Beach, and this negative survey will be the only reason VRBO or the property manager will reach out to me to try to make amends.
